If you’re already missing the baseball season, we’ve got news to cheer you up: today we announced the North American release of MLB 13 The Show, the latest installment of the number-one selling and rated Major League Baseball video game franchise. Available for PlayStation 3 and PS Vita, MLB 13 The Show is due to arrive in stores on March 5, 2013, just in time for MLB Spring Training.
Nothing compares to Postseason baseball. That’s why The Show offers an All-New Playoff Mode, which includes an in-stadium atmosphere that replicates the excitement and tension of October baseball. The experience is unrivalled by anything The Show has ever exhibited.

Other new features include a completely new beginner mode and instructional enhancements that make The Show the best pick-up and play baseball experience available. In addition, the improved Play Now mode streamlines gameplay, for faster and simpler games. San Diego Studios has also revamped The Show’s Franchise and Road To The Show modes with expanded options and new gameplay experiences.

Taking The Show on the road? The PS Vita version of The Show features the same list of upgrades and new features as the PS3 version. As with last year, you can sync your Season, Franchise and Road to the Show saves between platforms to continue the action anywhere. MLB The Show also offers the opportunity to play with friends around the world at no extra cost on PlayStation Network.

Is it wishful thinking for this to be Cross buy? It IS Sony first party, but I'm sure there is some licensing issue with doing that

I will refuse to buy this game if the people decide to vote a Yankee on the cover.

Would rather import the Canadian version.

So, the Astros are in the AL, and a bunch of other stuff.

This game will only be a real sim if the CPU can reliably simulate 140-loss seasons for the Marlins.

no reason to think it wont be cross buy. MLB 12 was.

edit: now that I think about it.. MLB 12 was actually cross buy from retailers, so I'm not sure if that was a Sony thing or a retailer thing. either way, I do specifically remember getting the Vita version of MLB 12 for free from Amazon.

OH FUCK!

The mere mention of it gets me all tingly!! I guess this might be the last one I play on current gen.

Can't wait for the long list of features. I always love reading that.

This will be the first year I'll pass on picking this up. Their handling of the Vita version and not patching any of the issues really soured me towards them.

Last years version pretty much took a giant dump on this franchise. Really interested to see if they can figure it out and bring it back from the brink.

And no 2k game this year right?

Wow. 360 baseball fans get fucked this year. That sucks. If 2k isn't going to use the license that should give other 3rd parties the right to make a game.

Loved MLB 12. Used Frankman's sliders and had great games daily. I'll be looking to Frankman for more sliders this year.

With Cross-Buy: Day 1.

Also, I'd strangely love a World Baseball Classic DLC option, it'd be kinda fun.

...Baseball season can't start soon enough now...

I'm going to skip this season...I've bought 08/09/10/12.

12 will suffice this year, I doubt that they will be adding much.

I'll see what they do on the PS4.

I'm not sure, but 2K previously had the rights to the WBC I believe. I know they had it in one of their games.

Yeah, I kinda remember that. Still, it'd be a fun option if Sony was able to get it. I'd prefer to play WBC with the Show's polish versus 2k's efforts.

hope vita one is better. but the psp games never really improved...

just make the loading shorter. they are awful for portable. And some tv presentation replays would be nice (skippable of course).

2K's license ran out this year, if I'm not mistaken. Considering how much MLB has embraced new media, I'd be really surprised if they didn't have something in place by opening day 2014, at the very least.

Also, this year's version of The Show wasn't quite Cross Buy, just bundled together for a cheaper price if you wanted both versions -- it was something like $69.99 if you bought both games together?

I'm surprised Konami hasn't stepped in. They have a supposedly great baseball game in Pro Baseball Spirits but are keeping it Japan-only. Why not reskin it with the MLB license and release it in the US? If that works they could try Power Pros again as well ...

Nice, another title for Vita next year

Indeed. But the Vita version needs some work. It's a baseball game. A solid framerate would be good.. No concessions, all walks ups and cut-scenes. I understand it's a handheld. But those little touches add to the experience.

I guess they would still have to release it through 2K. They might consider it once 2k's 3rd party exclusivity agreement is up.

Cant wait....and always enjoyed konami sports games also. Spirits baseball game is great. Hope vita version has more than quickplay feature this time.

To be fair, 360 baseball fans have been getting fucked with each effort from 2k, it's about time they stopped. They're not missing out on much, it's pretty well known if you care at all about baseball games you should own a PS3 by now.

Pro Baseball/Yakyuu Spirits is so good on Vita, that it's got me keen on baseball games in general, so i'll be keeping an eye on this. I haven't played The Show yet, but have been watching quite a bit on YouTube.. i really enjoy the american presentation so i hope they deliver the gameplay goods!

In the meantime, you can't go wrong with Konami's PBS.
Only bad thing is the price to import, and the fact that it's own yearly update is most likely just around the corner too (assuming they keep supporting Vita...)
