MLB 2k6: First video

Boo...the pitching and hitting still looks so unnatural to me compared to MVP and MLB on PS2. I don't know how to explain it but the way the ball releases from the pitcher's hand and way the ball contacts the bat have always bothered me about the series, the animation is weak and they don't look like they've fixed it much.

It's really kind of sad that this will likely be the only baseball game available to 360 owners this Spring. :(

Has anyone else been secretly hoping Microsoft would just pull a cat out of it's ass with a surprise baseball game this Spring? I know I have and i've been praying that somehow they licensed the MVP engine from EA to develop this secret game.

Hey, a guy can dream. ;)

I've had the same thoughts many, many times.

I wish EA would be the sneaky bitches they are and make a deal with Microsoft to become a 1st party developer in the baseball realm.

I really hope this comes together. As others have said, 2K5 just felt...off, somehow. MVP was so good, and was poised to be the ultimate baseball game this year. But I just don't see the point of playing a realistic baseball game without the MLB license.

It's the same story every year with that game--looks great before it's released, but never quite lives up to expectations.

I can't help but be hopeful. The Show concept is very cool. But last years game basically butt raped the public with bugs and never offered any sort of solution or explanation.

The big thing MVPNCAA for me is the fact that my school is in it, stadium and everything. (St. John's)

I don't know what people see in the 2K baseball franchise, it's really not a sound baseball experience.

Wow...this looks pretty damn bad at the moment. The players dont look like their into the game at all in some cases. And the swinging animations are still a mess. Fielding looks a bit better though, so theres a plus.

If it makes any of you feel better I did read about the new MVP NCAA having completely changed controls for various parts of the gameplay. :|

Those morons went and screwed with things just because.....

If you buy MVP 06 NCAA you can look forward to analog swings and analog throwing. yeah...

They left the original controls in the game too.

What's sad is people judging a game before it even comes out.

That said, the animation is as bad as ever.

I think we all know this game hasn't evolved much over the years. So, I feel very safe making assumptions that this game won't be much different than last years version.

2K5 evolved over the previous versions but the problem was it went the opposite way. It devolved into a pile of crap from the previously excellent game, even w/ the previous one having cursor batting (which I loved) and simplistic pitching. The only problems w/ the older games were superficial things like graphics and animations, the gameplay was fundamentally excellent.

microsoft bought high heat a year or two ago....what are they doing with it??

I loved High Heat, so the fact that MS is doing nothing with it makes me sad. Luckily MVP 2005 made me forget about High Heat... but now it's gone too. Dammit.

showing that they have enough money to pay for things they have no intent on using? (rare... up until recently :D )

No Bull. I forgot about that series.

Ugh just ugh :|

WSB for Xbox (2002) had awesome animations back when Triple Play was still using keyframing. Sadly, they seemed to stagnate or even get worse the next two years...although WSB2K3 and the first ESPN rivaled High Heat in realism.

Alas, it's not possible. Take Two's non-exclusive exclusive Major League Baseball license prevents first party publishers from working with third party publishers.

Wow. Well that explains it. I guess someone else thought of my idea before and made sure it was mentioned in the contract too. :lol

really? that is the first I heard of that... how does that work?

Curt Feldman said:
In addition, Take-Two and MLB have put all other third-party publishers on notice that no wiggle room exists for their entry into the MLB-licensed space. The deal allows only the major console manufacturers, Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft, the "right to enter into development agreements for MLB games specific to their particular platforms."

Earlier, many industry observers saw an opportunity for publishers, such as Electronic Arts, to collaborate with the manufacturers, possibly to cobrand MLB-licensed games. The agreement effectively closes that opening.

"All other third-party publishers and developers are precluded from publishing officially licensed MLB simulation, arcade, and manager-style games, either directly or in affiliation with a hardware manufacturer, during the length of the exclusives," the groups said.

In a statement, Take-Two execs call that move "consistent with Take-Two's desire for continued consumer choice."

WRONG. As someone else said, it went the wrong way. 2 Years ago it was top shelf gameplay wise(with bad graphics)

Can we get a 2k apologist tag for shanty? :P

I'm not though, so don't be rash. It's just to balance out everything else. :P

I only said it was good 2 years ago. I really liked that game. I believe those on the board who say it was bad.

The last 2k game I bought was NFL, whatever the last version was. I bought Madden too that year (and this year of course). :)
