MLB The Show 17 Has Gone GOLD!!

That 1440p mode is interesting. 4K always looks better than these 1080p enriched modes we've seen on Pro so far but that might be the sweet spot right there.

They just announced the Pro features on stream
The three different modes
1. 4k
2. High Detail (1440p)
3. High Framerate (1080p)

HDR is also supported for everyone

Very nice, looking forward to the DF analysis to see which I prefer.

I know absolutely nothing about baseball but I keep meaning to pick one of these games up if not knowing anything about baseball isn't an issue.

Do they ever do sales od the older titles when a newer version launches?

Just pick the newest one up, all show games are great for new comers to the game. It even has a retro mode to play the game SNES style if you feel like throwing aside the simulation gameplay for some easy fun.

Last year's game is $20 right now, probably won't drop lower than that anytime soon.

This game in 4K + HDR will look ridiculous. If only I had a 4K TV :(

It's not a problem really, I don't watch baseball (as it is the absolute worst) but the kinda turn based nature of the sport translates really well to video games.

It's pretty easy to pick up the general idea relatively quickly, as opposed to something like Madden which would be a nightmare for a complete newcomer. If you jump into the Road to the Show career mode, which is stupidly addictive, then it's even easier to familiarise yourself with baseball.

Will there be an online retro mode? Or will that only be available offline vs cpu?

Sorry for the semi off topic question, didn't really know where else to ask.

Edit - the thread needs more JR photos.

I just wouldn;t get my money's worth out of the newer game, even though both versions are the same price at ÂŁ39.99 in the UK, which is really cheap for a new sports game. I'm not saying the new isn't worth the full price, I just don't think it's worth it for me.

However, $20 seems to be a pretty good price for this game for me. I don't know anything about the players so I'm not going to miss any team changes at all.

I do keep looking at them on YouTube and they always pretty accessible. I actually really like the Madden games, possibly because I play rugby which really isn't the same thing even though it does share some things on a tactical level.

Every year, people complain about the netcode. But I play exclusively online and played over 1000 games just in last years version and the online is not bad. It's closer to good than it is bad. Most of the time it works.

Yes but is online finally fixed?

Make sense. Did the fix the online netcode?

I guess that is that...i will wait for a sale lol

^This. I played hundreds of Diamond Dynasty games online in 15 and 16 and both ran really well online from my experience. Pre MLB 15 online was straight up broken though.

Target is 60 but the Show's framerate on PS4 has never been what I call steady. I'm guessing 1080p will be locked at 60 while the other two have the usual fluctuations.

This is all that matters. I was hoping for non pro support so we could use boost mode but if they can finally lock it at 60 thats fine by me.

This sucker in 4K with HDR (or even the 1440p with enhanced visuals and HDR) may make me buy day 1. Nice Pro support!

Can someone tell me if The Show 14 for vita is any good? It looks pretty good on YouTube. I don't know anything about baseball and just want a sports game on the vita, my choices are basically this and FIFA.

Yeah. The Vita games are fine. It obviously won't be up to date and I'm not sure what the server status is.

Never played The Show on Vita, but the last NCAA Football game released on PSP is available for sale on the PS Store, playable on Vita, and holds up well.

Edit: Baseball Stars 2 is also on Vita, but it is fucking hard.

The last version I had was '11 so is love to get a new version, but right now my new game money is going towards Persona 5. Maybe if it goes on sale in the summer time. Plus retro mode looks awesome kinda like baseball stars.

I played a whole 162 game season on the Vita is 2012. It was pretty solid. It was the first iteration so I am sure the newer ones are even better.

As for this, I was going to skip this year after buying every year since 07, but as a Pro owner and a KS8000 owner I have to buy it now.

Got a review copy of MLB 17 from Sony. Will stream when embargo lift tomorrow after 9AM PST. Thanks to Sony for this opportunity.
