Mobile Phone games that feel AAA

If you are like me and come across fountains of shovelware, what hidden gems have you come across on the App or Play store?

I searched fighting games and came across this dev called Nekki games
They have 2 really solid franchises that stand out above a typical mobile. For once I felt like controls and gameplay were solved for these type of games. Check out Vector and Shadow Fight.

Final Fantasy XV: A New Empire. It's amazing and probably better than the main game.

When it comes to amount of content, none. When it comes to just polish, things like Monument Valley stand out to me.

Mario Run and ports of console games like Max Payne, Xcom, Tomb Raider, ecc... Anyway I can't play on smartphone because I hate touch controls on 3D games. I tried with a pad, but I never want to take it to play and I also hate how hot the phone become when you play and also the battery that drain pretty quick and then I've to recharge before evening.

Only game I play regulary in my phone is Pokémon GO when I've to go out.

Yup.

GTA San Andreas is the first mobile port that came to mind

Well...some people out there classify Granblue Fantasy as a "mobage" out there, but really, it's a browser game that can be played with both your phone and computer...and there's really a lot of depth that's packed into it, along with lots of frequent events with lovely art by Hideo Minaba and soundtrack by Nobou Uematsu.

Some might even say that with the depth that the game possesses, level 1~101 are basically the tutorial stages and it's from 101 onwards that the real stuff actually unlock

After all, what other company out there other than Cygames (Granblue Fantasy company) would bother splashing out 300 million yen just for a newspaper ad to celebrate the 3rd anniversary of the game?

All the ports are basically AAA.

Baldur's Gate
Neverwinter Nights
Bully
Grand Theft Auto
Max Payne
Hearthstone

It's a question if one likes the controls or not.

Implosion - Nerver Lose Hope (yes, it says "nerver")
Was free some time ago, nice little game.

Adventures of Mana, came out before the Vita version and plays like the original Final Fantasy Adventure

A lot of ports, like KOTOR, Baldurs Gate or Titan Quest. The Lego games.

There are a lot of great smartphone games, you just have to find them. And cope with worse controls.

There are tons of great mobile games, for example I loved this one called Sara is Missing

Is an horror game which emulates a cell phone interface perfectly, is jump scarey but a very very good example of enviormental story telling, is free and also there's a desktop version

Houkai Impact maybe.

Uh the company that runs a gacha based smartphone game, not a normal AAA developer?

And that awful performance as AAA, loool.

Depends on what qualify as AAA. Is it the number of copies sold? The metacritic rating?
The credit score of the company? Seems meaningless to me either way. If by "AAA" you mean a game that tries too hard to be a soul-less console game then you could still check out Gameloft's catalog. If it's money then go check Japanese gacha games or Candy Crush Saga and Clash of Clans.

Otherwise, if it's a lengthy, well polished, exciting game that you're looking for then that list is quite good and Don't Starve can rank among them.

AAA usually means a game with big budget in every category. It doesn't matter how good or popular it is. Hearthstone is not AAA, since it doesn't require big budget to develop (it might have AAA budget for marketing and make more money than most AAA games though). Don't starve is an indie in every way.

Mario Run, Fire Emblem Heroes and Miitomo
Came here to say that. Never had so much fun with a mobile game in forever. Fire Emblem and Mario Run have really stepped up the standards. Can't say the same for miitomo however, I feel out of that fast.

If you ignore the changes that made the game worse and more pay to play, then Real Racing 3 is a top tier racing game on mobile and it came out a few years back, still holds up completely.

Everything to do with budget. None of them come close to AAA. And if you're self-published, whether you're Titan Souls or The The Witness, you're indie.

I love Mercenary Kings. It's objectively not a AAA game. Same reason why Dark Knight is a blockbuster but not The Social Network.

what is the definition of AAA on mobile? In context of other games on the platform or the same standards like consoles and PC?

If second, then everyone who posts ports like Hearthstone, Xcom, Dont Starve and Sunless sea is wrong, because they are not AAA on their main platform.
