Mobile Suit Gundam Extreme Vs Full Boost coming to PS3 in 2014

I wish NB would really localize this series. Out of all the gundam games we get, this would be the one TO get.

Finally.

Do we have an exact date yet though?

Guess not... After skimming the source article I didn't really see anything about that, and the price is undecided too...

90+ playable suits sounds amazing though...

The next Gundam Extreme game after this will probably be F2P. They could make so much money off of this it's not even funny.

HELL YEAH! Finally the pattern of Gundam Musou and Gundam Vs. taking "years" is over!

Will they do a ps4 port later?

Likely only if they think it would be worth their while. Otherwise, the next game in the series will be on Namco's next-gen arcade board (which is comparable to the PS4's performance), so it would stand to reason that Namco will just wait to port that future version when the time is right.

Haven't they already gone down the F2P model for Gundam games?

For one game, yes. Gundam Battle Operations. In the later levels it is extremely pay to win... Higher level stuff can only be purchased with real money, not in game money. Well, thats how it was a year ago. I've been dropped that game.

That said, pretty excited for this! Maybe I'll have enough money to import it once it comes out.

The bastards could atleast release for the PS4 as well, hopefully it arrives later on down the road.

Points of interest:
Original bgm and a Premium G Sound Edition that has the arcade bgm

Damn bandai did not expect this. But it would be okay if they change the current custom soundtrack in EXVS to allow them for online use then it would be okay.

How big of an update is this, exactly?

Single Player will probably either be really sparse, or get a huge revamp from how it was in EXVS (probably more missions, bosses, scenarios).

Outside of that, Full Boost operates more like a rebalancing on steroids. Lots of new units, every unit gets a EX Burst Attack where most didn't in the original, major rebalancing of a lot of units (talking new attacks or mechanics, or just flat out Unit Cost changes), new music, and did I say a lot of new units? (although, some of those new units were sold as DLC for EXVS over the past year). Basically, it's something that renders EXVS obsolete in every possible respect.

What would be the point, when the majority of the audience still goes to play the games in arcades, though?

I mean, unless Bamco has any aspirations to localize this game in the near future...

Bandai took their Gundam Ball and ran home with it after realizing that North America isn't as fond of their fabled series as those in Japan are.

Hooray for region-free consoles.

Exactly. Which is more or less the reason why I question why a F2P Gundam Vs. game would at all make sense.

Pay to play at home...or go back and pay to play in arcades? For most Japanese players, the choice would be clear.

Pretty telling when the only Gundam games that get localized are Musou games. All the standard Gundam games? UC 0081? Gundam Breaker? Gundam Unicorn? Japan-only. Please understand.

Shit, all the licensed Musou games get localized.

Also, most of Bandai Entertainment's old anime catalog has been licesned by other North American companies. The big hold out? GUNDAM.

In Bandai's defense, they did give an effort, at least for a little bit, when they were trying to market the original Gundam. I mean, yeah, it failed spectacularly and a lot of the games they did localize were shit and sold like shit, but it's something.

In their defense, unlike Gundam, Musou games actually sell in the west.

Yeah. And it doesn't help that the last Gundam Vs. game we got was Gundam vs. Zeta Gundam, which, compared to the games of today, was horribly slow and clunky in comparison and got largely panned by everyone.

Alright, I haven't been in the scene with the VS series since I was finally done with Next + since it launched. I skipped out on Extreme vs since the importing costs from playasia were too ridiculous for me to handle. $110 retail game? Puh-leaze.

Was hoping Namco would consider localizing it given they localized the trashy Dynasty warrior games I was never interested in. But the good thing about VS is that you don't need to know any Japanese to have fun with it.

I kind of regret skipping out on Extreme VS. I'm down for Full Boost, as much as I was for Next +, the OG Gundam VS Gundam (still better than Next +), and Rengou VS Zaft.

I was only turned off by the series by the addition of the Next Dash. Really ruined my game with side stepping and basically gave everyone a get out of jail card for virtually any situation if they weren't retarded with their boosting. Just delays matches further, and side-stepping turned into a joke.

I am still honestly down for a localization petition to Bandai. I know everyone is going to blame the OST and licensing nightmare but its still worth a shot. Extreme VS deserved a shot over here, especially for those ignorant to the series. Change.com anyone?
