I gladly purchased Mario Maker 3DS the moment it was available, depite already owning the Wii U version. Most of my free time is during commutes, so even though this version is clearly weaker, it is still my only option for playing Mario Maker to the extent that I would like. Also I am a sucker.
That being said, this move was pretty stupid. Nintendo is actually pushing people towards hacking their units in order to gain (regain?) functionality that is, quite frankly a no-brainer and should have been there in the first place. In an attempt to save money on the port, I wonder how much they lost in sales. Does the general public really care? I guess only time will tell.
