So the copier explodes, the glass next to it shatters, the filing cabinets explode, the potted plant gets annihilated, papers fly everywhere...

Destructible environments are a go!

Fuck yeah.. I've never been so hyped about a game ever before, and don't think I ever will be. Been dying for this vid to come out.

All I want is more now... oh yeah, and the game.

The radar was in the top left corner most of the time, it wasnt there for a few parts - it seems like a weird move for it to only show when you have a UAV up since it would take out the strategy of having to control your fire

I guess I only noticed it when it was gone.

Sigh. The exploding cars are still there. God damn IW, get your shit together. Based on that video, they showed some parts of most of the maps, that look exactly like the COD4 maps. I saw some Strike, I saw some Backlot, and I saw some some Downpour. Overall not impressed.

HAHA!!!

OMFG that looks insane. I truly hope we get a multiplayer beta.

I saw on a Discovery Channel program awhile ago bomb squads using a water bomb device as a controlled explosion on suspicious packages. It might be how bombs are taken care of in that mode.

no, that guy got hit by a gunship, you can see him on that kill list thingy and it has the AC130 symbol as the cause of death

To be fair a lot of games have smallish destructible environments. Then isn't really what most people think of when they use the term now that Red Faction or Battlefield exist ala blowing holes in walls and taking down buildings but it still adds a bit to the immersiveness so its all good even on that small scale. And they never promised full scale destruction so.

People think the game is casual friendly because the aim assist is over the top and any noob can run around with juggernaut, martyrdom, P-90 spraying and praying his way to a 3:1 kill streak that turns into a 10:1 kill streak because he gets grenade spam, radar, airstrikes, and a AI controlled helicopter for his mission of repeatedly running and gunning then respawning, rinse and repeat.

How much more assistance does one player need?

The hardcore mode is not bad however it does expose how weak a lot of the maps are when you actually have to employ strategy. also, the hardcore deathmatch is stupid because people who play hardcore are generally into objective based play and search and destroy gets old after awhile.

what autoaim?
Yes, there's lots of autoaim in the single player (which can be turned off by the way), but online there is very very little autoaim. If i played the game for 2 hours I might get 1 kill that was because of auto-aim.

I think we got a lot of people that are butt hurt playing online and are looking for excuses, which won't help with this new release. The game had a perfect fit of strategy and anti-strategy. You couldn't hide all the time and be safe. You couldn't run and gun all the time and be safe. Yes, juggernaut was a bit much, but it was easy to counter.
And if you couldn't handle that you could play hardcore with even less autoaim.

And no - hardcore deathmatch was the most popular hardcore game type by far according to numbers.

There is no difference between getting a 3 kill streak with COD4 as you do with any game. Everyone has the same opportunities.

Thanks for reassuring me about the skill level of the pc folk. I used to play some CS and Battlefield 2 on the PC, but when I tried Quake I got raped so I was anxious to play this. Seems I will be getting it after all :)

Oh dear god looked fun. Day fucking one.

IMO more innovative than most of the releases this gen.

I just fail to see the innovation beyond minor details at least from this footage. They have not even updated the engine significantly (which is probably difficult to do given their self imposed 60fps constraint).

looks like water?

All over my face? :lol

Will be rocking the MP day one SP a month or more after.
Here's hoping the PS3 version doesn't get the sticky end this time again.

About destructible environments, judging from the .gif, it seems more points are awarded to you the more destruction you cause in getting a kill.

The points counting towards the game are almost certainly the same but just as with COD 4 those extra points are probably put towards individual unlocks. Essentially COD 4 had that internal achievement system where you got extra points for completing certain goals. It's the same here almost certainly.

what? aim assist is all over the place in mp from what ive seen

Can't fucking wait for this. Pretty much the only game I'm REALLY looking forward to this fall.

Let's hope so. Seeing 720p E3 video made the engine look *exactly* like COD4.
Let's atleast hope they bumped the capabilities to a HD resolution (and not 600p like their previous effort).
What I'm gathering from this is that the COD4 engine couldn't run at 720p, if I'm wrong, please correct me. I know other games run at odd resolutions, but I always thought it was for a different look and not capabilities. Also, what would happen if a 600p game was scaled by a 360/PS3 or TV to 1080p? What would be the resolution then, and would it look better to just leave it at 720p(600p)?

Drop some knowledge and educate me.

Nice gif. My only request is for MW 2 to not become the Killzone 2 gif machine of Gaf. Nothing more annoying than that.

Why care man? Once the game comes out you wont be reading the forums that much anyway ;)

(although you and me are both one of the top posters in the COD4 thread, number wise)

Very excited about this.

Can't wait to find out more the custom killstreak options.

I'm sure the 3 from cod4. Maybe the dogs from waw?

Lack of recoil in that video is really jarring for me after playing some other online FPS games :/

I haven't played MW in ages, I forgot it was this arcadey! Still looks pretty good though.

I know they put the price up in the UK for this but golfham who can resist?

It looks amazing and you know everyone will be playing.

True ;)

Although it would be nice to set an example for once that you can be excited for a game without turning GAF into a viral marketing, trolling, embarrassing mess.

But maybe I'm hoping for too much...

The perspective differences still annoys me in these games, i.e only 402s head is visible from the players perspective but the player clearly has his weapon and arms above the filing machine. Player should be able to see 402s weapon right?

just noticed at about 0:29 when there is death raining down everything blows up and a fire hydrant or something starts spraying water in the air. looks like the water from that screen shot is also from something watery being blown up from above.

I know that i said that i was not going to buy Modern Warfare 2 .... yeah....
Im so buying it.

I'm shocked at how...positive...the reactions to this are. I was pretty sure that GAFpinion is pretty low of the prequel.

I personally loved it though.

COD 4 multiplayer was well received here for the most part. The single player portion is what most people had a problem with.

Yeah, if i buy COD(6?)MW2 its because the multiplayer.
COD4 SP was so so, but the MP was really good.

You could be right with the individual unlocks, but I don't want it to be that way. It's seems it would be a lot more fun if you get more points the more destruction you cause in getting a kill.

I'll be getting this game regardless.
