Modern Warfare 3 coming to 3DS...

Jokers aside, So many ignorant people here. CoD games on the DS were actually good. Screw 3DS. the DS is here for the staying.

Can't say I enjoyed CoD4 on the DS much. It's graphical capabilities simply don't render "realistic" graphics very well, hence why I loved the look of Metroid Prime Hunters so much more. Gameplay was also fairly generic.

Not surprising in the least...

I'd assume these versions are pretty crap right?

Anybody played them?
Obviously you're not getting anything close to the console experience, but they're actually pretty decent DS games. N-Space has had four cracks at the series on the DS, so it's come a long way since MW. The AI is horrible in the installments I've tried, but everything else works pretty well. Black Ops even managed to squeeze online Zombies in there. Pretty neat.

It would be nice if better textures, etc were unlocked if it detects it's in a 3DS instead of a DS. This is one up port I'd like to see since it might be a while before a full 3DS version of a Call of Duty is made.

Handheld port of console game = bad.

Be it DS, 3DS, iPhone, Vita. All bad.

And why does Wario hate Nintendo so much. Stop with all these troll posts.

Does anyone know the actual numbers the series pushed on DS?

Call of Duties on DS have surely not had a fraction of the success of the HD versions, but they must have been quite profitable if this is the fifth entry.

How did they play? How was the controls and features? any online component in any those?

It's weird that there are 4 COD titles for the DS, with a fifth on the way, and I've heard and seen 0 media for them.

Heh. Activision apparently doesn't like releasing assets for non-HD Call of Duty. I remember World at War had a Wii-specific TV ad back at release, but since then we usually have to wait for people to take blurry pictures of the boxart for some idea of what the game looks like :/

The graphics were good enough to be compared to a military shooter. Keep in mind it had bigger areas which it had to be rendered as opposed to corridor design of MPH. Also, comparing between those are dumb because COD on DS is an FPS while MPS never felt like one.

they are not ports. You stop with the troll post.

N-Space already has a well-oiled DS CoD making machine, so this was completely expected. The 3DS will get it's own versions when it gets enough userbase, most likely done by Treyarch using Wii assets/engines.

BTW, is Black Ops DSi-enhanced for WPA support? I heard the game had various online modes, but going online with plain DS games (which only support WEP) is a chore.

n-Space is also doing Heroes of Ruin for the 3DS which has been receiving a good amount of praise around, so would be nice to see them giving a try to CoD on the 3DS; seeing how they're getting experience in working on it.

Eh, happened all the time in the early days of the DS. There's probably at least a dozen GBA titles that should have been on the DS instead.
The reverse is also true. Lots of early (and even late) DS games are just GBA ports with a map or logo on the second screen.

DS games cost a Less than half a million to make, 3DS games with the increase in horsepower will cost a lot more.

While not a big earner for acti COD DS will give a good return for very little invested.

Maybe they're working on a 3DS version, but haven't announced it yet. The same report of the DS/Wii versions of MW3 says that they're aiming to have the releases of the Wii version be on the same date as the other "HD versions"...but no promises.

The plan is to bring MW3 out on Wii on the same day as the other versions being developed by Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games, but it’s a different platform with different capabilities, so this is not confirmed yet — there’s still work to do. I’ll update you when I know more.

Kinda gives the impression that development of this version(s) was recent, and were officially announced probably because of the team(s) reaching a milestone; and therefore expecting the games to be finished on time.

If anyone is curious as to what these games look like I came across this video of Black Ops DS on youtube.

Leg movements are horrible but it seems solid when you remember this is a FPS DS game. It's easy I think to imagine how much better a 3DS version would look like considering the power of the 3DS and that you have the circle pad

CoD MW DS actually sold 500k just in the US.

Don't understand it though. They could easily port the Wii version to 3DS.
Actually, a 3DS version could look closer to the HD twins than the Wii version.

Who say teh 3DS hab no gams?
No one.

For what it's worth, I feel like mentioning that n-Space's Modern Warfare games on DS are very well done. These games play great, look great, and the on-line is smooth and well-populated. Getting a third MW game on DS is then hardly a surprise, and a welcome announcement at the same time.

There's a Wii version? I guess Infinity Ward really is a shell of its former self.
Treyarch's doing it. Infinity Ward isn't capable of Wii ports, they think it's impossible so Activision got the A team to lend a hand.

I would have loved to have been in the room when IW first saw and heard about Modern Warfare Reflex. Treyarch just straight up proved them to be liars with that game and continued to do so with Black Ops and now once again with Modern Warfare 3 (hopefully).

n-Space discusses lack of 3DS version
You guys all need to understand that we make the games we are hired to make. It is not our call to decide which platforms to support. Obviously we are big 3DS fans and supporters as we have 3 titles in development. If it were as simple as us choosing what products and platforms to develop for I would get a lot more sleep.
