Modern Warfare 3 - Gameplay Trailer HD

Why do the haters always come into these threads? I don't go into BF threads and say oh look shitty infantry combat that still tries but horribly fails at copying the masterful combat perfected by IW in COD 4. I don't understand the people saying I am so disappointed in the trailer for COD 8 it looks like COD.

Some things may look dated, but the animations look good and it will run at 60fps. Getting the game at 1280x720 finally would be nice, though. (Playing it on 360)

I just want a solid, fun experience. The graphics are good enough until I get Microsoft's next gen Xbox.

So are thdy dropping the "Call of Duty" from the title again?

I hope not.
It shows and says COD at the end of the trailer.

I'll be there day one. As long as the set pieces are tight and the multiplayer is as good as CoD4 and MW2, I'll be one happy dude.

Anyone waiting for Respawn's FPS instead? I am. I hate stories that continue with completely different people involved. It does not feel right, and the single players of MW1 and 2 are some of my favorites.

I'm going to rent.

I'm still holding out hope that maybe they can hit the pacing of CoD4 or CoD1, and hopefully can improve the guns and audio of the game. The multiplayer is most likely going to be a chaotic mess.

This, I will rent it because I actually do enjoy the campaign and all the crazy moments that happen in it. Makes for a good action movie but I will stay away from the multiplayer.

The end of the trailer shows:

Call of Duty
MW3

they might be dropping the "Modern Warfare" name (replacing it with "MW3" instead of "Modern Warfare 3"), but not Call of Duty.

Oh, c'mon... not the "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all" argument. Call of Duty or not, we're allowed to be critical. We're the consumers after all -- so if we're a little concerned about spending our money on a redundant looking game (based off the trailer), I don't see why we can't comment on that.

I can't get over the complaints from people saying it looks like MW 2.5. WTF were you expecting? They're not going to reinvent the series at this point in the generation.

*shrug* I'm resigned to just "not getting" CoD then. I saw a bunch of grey cities being blown up, and barely ten seconds of actual gameplay in the entire trailer. I just don't see how it looks awesome. Whats awesome about it?

People like the arcadey shooting and action sequences that make them feel like they're in an action movie. Plus it's easy to pick up and play. All that, and the shooting mechanics really aren't that bad.

Harp on the game all you want, but the mechanics of it really aren't terrible.

It's impossible for you to be skeptical or hesitant! You must be trolling!

Why not? Halo Reach did it.

Oh look, the king of predictable AI and ridiculous set pieces returns for yet another scripted rollercoaster ride. Except this time, I've been on the ride so many times that I'm likely to doze off in the middle of it.

WW3? So no country without an "E" in its name participating?
Day 1 buy though. Would have gone Battlefield 3's way had it not been gimped on the consoles.

We're probably seeing the peak of COD graphically. They wanna target 60fps and that's very hard to do on current consoles as it is. To have all that going onscreen (with obvious frame rate dips) is kinda impressive on its own

No but they should update their engine after all these years, the game still looks the same except for a few minimal details.

I think it's an honest and well deserved complaint, especially after all this time and so many games released.

I doubt it'll look much better than MW2.

Seriously?

What would you have preferred they done? Dumb down the PC version just to make it look like consoles aren't woefully outdated and holding games back at this point?

The graphical difference will hurt a little bit, but I wasn't reasonably expecting the console versions to match the PC version anyway.

Sure the engine is showing its age but damn that was one of the coolest trailers I've ever seen. I could care less about MP, it's all about the SP campaign for me. I also pretty much disliked Black Ops and loved CoD4: MW and MW2 so this will be an insta buy for me. As long as it's 60fps on 360, count me in. I don't see how BF3 is going to look so much better on *consoles* than MW3. Sure, on PC BF3 will wipe the floor with MW3 but on consoles it's gonna be a somewhat more even playing field. Well I dunno, I could be proven wrong. We'll see.

BTW the WW3 --> MW3 at the end was brilliant.

The year I will start thinking about not buying COD is the one when Respawn's game is being launched. I still think Skedgehammer could really surprise people they have a lot of talent. I'm not too bothered about the plot, but it will be nice to see things sure tied up.

Looks like a MW game.

That being said, still looks entertaining. Also, I spotted the Freedom Tower. Shit better not get knocked down, or else!

You and everyone else are still going to buy it regardless of what it looks like, so why would they spend the time and money on upgrading anything? It's the Madden-effect.

gimped? other than the player count and resolution, whats gimped

There are some jaded motherfuckers here....

I'm pleasantly intrigued... It will take my strong hatred of Activision to stop me from playing this.

I don't know about everyone else but I can tell you right now I will not be buying this game, CoD greatness era ended a long time with CoD4 for me, after that everything started going downhill including the graphics, but you are correct about why upgrading and wasting money, etc, since most people will always buy it.

Like I said before... it's CoD, no matter what the developers throw to the people they will always buy and be excited for it.

I'm not talking about those guys. There is just a few people who just come in and say it looks like COD why does it sell? Why are people hyped? etc. It is starting to get boring this is the 8th COD game if you didn't like the previous 7 there is a good chance you won't like the sequel. The series continues to break records you won't be seeing a drastic change until a proper challenger arrives which is probably going to be Respawn's next game.

Couldn't even make it all he way through the trailer. So many fucking half second clips flashing, it's impossible to tell what's going on. Terrible trailer.

I skipped out on MW2 and Black Ops because I played both and hated all the added bullshit that broke the game. Multiplayer was ridiculously unbalanced, and I hate the scripted singleplayer BS. I really want to like COD again because COD4 is one of my favorite multiplayer games of all time, but this trailer didn't do it for me. Will wait for multiplayer footage/info.

For me to care about COD again they need to 1. stop tailoring all the maps to run and gunners and make maps that are balanced for all the classes, 2. get rid of noob tubes/rockets or at least only let you have like 1 round maximum, 3. Really balance the perks/extra bullshit so that one particular class doesn't reign supreme all the time.

E3 will be the big decider for me this year it seems. I'm waiting for multiplayer footage of both Battlefield 3 and MW3 before I decide what'll be the main FPS for me. Something tells me MW3 will just add a bunch of more useless shit into MP without balancing any of it and it'll just be a huge safe haven for machine gun 1-shot-kill noobs. We'll see what happens though because Battlefield 3 may disappoint and adopt the same bullshit.
I think Blops nails all those 3 requirementS

Thought this would be the best place for it. Saw it on N4G. Linkage

Bowling:
Call of Duty doesn't have cut scenes, every second of that was taken from playable moments in the game. #MW3

He later commented on the frames-per-seconds:
Absolutely, locked at 60 Frames Per Second. That is a core design principle for us and especially for #MW3.

Can't wait for MW3 to completely & utter destroy the new BF game this winter.

Let's be friends here.

It is possible to enjoy both games.

Bull shit, consoles will only hold you back if you let them. If MAG manages 256players how hard can it be to at least go 32 player MP on consoles even if not 64? DICE wants to serve PC crowd like CoD/MW serves the console crowd.

Hmmm....so not much actual 'gameplay' in that video at all. Mostly just cutscenes and whatnot.

Frankly, I dont care one bit about all this stuff. The series has been a multiplayer focused-series since MW1, and I dont think thats going to change now. Give me some great multiplayer footage/information and I *might* get excited, otherwise, this all means nothing to me.

And believe me, I'm not a CoD hater at all. In fact, I still think that the series is untouchable in terms of controls and gunplay for FPS', but I've gotta see more than just this to get me excited.

lololol

I play both series a lot, but Call of Duty is hardly what I would call "100 times better than its competitors".

There are plenty of online shooters that are as good as, and in many cases, better than, Call of Duty.

Call of Duty 4 was fucking fantastic, and could easily stand with the best of them, but it's been a very steep downhill ride from there.

You can't be fucking serious.

BF3 will be a better game but will sell 4x fewer than this.

Provided they removed the bionic man 30 foot commando knife leap through your shotgun blasts, I'm in.

Did I just click on GameFAQs by accident?

Seriously dude, it's not that serious. Some people are more excited for BF3 this year. Big deal. It isn't like MW3 is going to completely suck -- I don't think anyone feels like it's going to be a BAD game... just a little too much of the same old thing; for better or worse.

Looks pretty damn good I must say. It's good to fight in more modern urban environments.

CoD marketing has always been quite good.
