Money making thread $$$

This is all it comes down to. I buy and resell a little bit too but I never scalp even though it would be easy money. It's not that scalping is immoral, but it is a shitty thing to do. It's profiting by making things worse for other people. It's something I wouldn't want done to me, so I don't do it to others.

Jesus
Things you wouldn't want done to you? We are talking about things that are wanted, but needed in life. You make it sound like I am buying out all the beef from Walmart.

I'm not making it sound that way. There are lots of things you could do that are in no way immoral but are still annoying and frustrating to other people. Scalping is a disservice. Shouldn't be surprised when people get upset about it.

I am currently starting an affiliate marketing site since it's something I have been looking into for awhile. I think it gets a bad rep because of all the people selling questionable info in an attempt to make a quick buck off of gullible people who are in turn just looking for a way to make easy money from home. The reality is that it is a TON of work at the start and a very slow process to begin making any money at all with not guarantee of success...but I wanted to give it a shot anyway.

If I have any luck I'll post about it one day. That said, the "Just Start" subreddit is a goldmine of honest and useful information on the topic with lots of helpful folks.

I feel a bit better knowing my side "job"isn't anywhere near as controversial as some of the others.

And semi-on topic, I made a spiced apple butter last night. It tastes so incredible.

when the switch came out my friend bought like 10 of them from walmart and scalped them to ppl on craigslist. it's scummy but he's a businessman so that's just how he thinks, buy low sell high. he made enough $$ to get a "free" switch plus more

i personally don't care enough to do that

I took advantage of the gamestop trade in 6 games deal this summer to turn $140 into $410. Saw some people taking it to the point ofhitting $2000 in trades, that shit was crazy. I feel 0 regret. If anybody was ripped off, it was a massive corporation that put themselves in that situation.

Otherwise I just trade rare old games, but I just use the extra money to get more games.

It all depends on perspective.
If I ever thought I was an asshole I wouldn't ever do it. I find it a more assholish thing to label other people based on their moral code.

That's what an asshole would say.

I am actually thinking to pick up garage sales business...I have heard there's good business there to resell on the Bay. Kind of a dirty job though being most garage sale items most likely needing some dusting off and cleaning.
There is. I know people pay crazy money for unique or rare clothes, cups and other knickknacks. Since it is garage/yard sell folks are always down to barter to get their stuff sold. Books can also be a crazy money maker btw, but like everything it is easy to buy useless crap. I find that it is better to stick to a few things, and become an expert on them. For example I would only buy video games, some electronics, and ikea furniture since I knew what those things go for on ebay and craigslist.

If I wasnt so lazy I could have made more money then I did. I was usually content with 200-300 profit. That was for a full week worth of; buying the stuff, cleaning/fixing it, posting it, mailing it, and in the case of furniture driving it to the buyers home.

No, I get it, I can see why someone would be upset. But instead of discussing it in civil manner some people just start attacking.

I suppose it does become a lot easier to focus on a few category items. Videogames definitely an easy one and they can go for very good prices...it sucks I don't have the equipment/retro console to test cartridge games.

Only thing that's a problem for me would be listing on eBay since each listing tends to have its own unique details.

Blogging has become a side hustle for me. While I do have a day job (all hail the day job!), blogging has made me some extra income every month. A few hundred dollars right now but I hope to do more marketing next year so I can start earning thousands.

I had to create a website first on hPage: https://www.hpage.com which has been a very reliable website builder (perfect for those who don't know how to code). Their features allowed me to customize my blog the way I wanted it. I eventually monetized my blog and also I earn through affiliate links.

What are you blogging about to make even any money? I'm amazed small time bloggers can make any money these days considering how the big sites gobble up content and often repackage bloggers content as their own. And then there's Youtube...

Presumably he's viral marketing that hpage site he linked and the rest of the anecdote is just scaffolding for the link drop. Note the necrobump involved and the new account etc. I thought it was fairly subtle though, clearly written specifically for the thread posted in and not a straight copy+paste, and the original discussion was mostly about hustling, so I gave him a pass on this one out of respect for the hustle. :messenger_smiling:

Completely agree. Never knock another mans hustle.

Unless he's blatantly ripping someone else, I understand him.
As someone who's into the street wear world, I have found myself attaining limited items that have increased exponentially in price. Yeezy's, limited jordans, supreme, you name it. First time I got a pair of yeezy's, before leaving the store, I had offers of 500, 700, 800. The original price was 200. Is me selling it for 800 ripping the person off (I actually didn't sell it for 800, I gauged the market and found out it was selling for close to 2 grands online, though I severely under priced it and sold it for 1K)? Is it considered malicious in any way? The market determines the price not me.

Now, if I buy a microphone for 25 dollars, and I sell it in the streets for 200 when that same person could've just gotten to Walmart and gotten it for 25 (basically a con artist), now that's a complete different situation.
Blame the companies making these limited edition street wear items. People ultimately make the decision what they want to pay in the end.

I design things and put them on shirts and other apparel and sell them online, I don't make enough to quit my 9-5 yet, but it brings in additional spending money.
And I'm working on a game right now, but that's in its beginning stages and it brings me no money. yet.

How much does that make you in profit a month?

I do some stocks and I forage mushrooms when it rains. But all of that goes towards my student loans. I do have one big idea, that's in crazy demand now, but it's hard to do. So I toil with that everyday after work.

I know this is a year old thread, but I'm looking for a side hustle to make some extra money before I have a child. Just to dump into a savings account to make sure we have enough extra for any unknown quantities.

I am severely hampered by living in a country where I have only a rudimentary understanding of the language, and having a 50-60 hour work week.
I've looked into some writing jobs, but the internet ones all seem super shady. I also offered myself as a proof reader for scientific text books/articles/theses but the company wanted me to spend a month in a training "camp" which I just couldn't do.

I'm also not business minded at all.

It like nobody understands how a free market works. Too many people crying out for the "children", on limited luxury items. Haha fuck em man, you do you.

There are many ways to make business online, what I mean is: If you have Product, Service, making good creative content or learned how to invest, all of those are available in the internet or offline and you can learn more after reading books about them, its all about what skill you can use for doing that well.
I saw a video about someone having a case using youtube to make money online from just league of legends game

I'm trying to work as a freelancer in Upwork for low rate and its extremely difficult to have a good job and long-term, maybe cause I'm from Egypt, but i think people who work in USA and Europe may have a better chance than me, my income didn't reach 100$ per month.

As a dad of a kid who didn't get what she wanted on Xmas the last two years because of sold-out stock, here's a nice fat đź–• to anybody who buys up high-demand toys just to turn around and scalp them.

May karma shit generously upon you.

Im a videographer, and I sell "Luts", which is like, color profiles but for video. Its quite a profitable way of making quite some money, but it ties in with what I do. I figured its a nice passive way of income, everytime I share a video or work, some people will buy them, so I get extra revenue.

Not sure if can share the link here, if not then I ask for a mod to remove it? To those interested in having a look at what it is, its here - www.vellichor-luts.myshopify.com

Im also invested in Bitcoin and other cryptos, but its a long term thing, and even though i've invested in it since last year, im about break-even, so its not really bringing any money.

I just budget accordingly and don't have kids sucking on my financial teet. I'm lazy and hate hustling after my 9-5.

Landscaping lawns, newspaper delivery routes, security, eBay, YouTube ads, Uber, Facebook/Craigslist/Garage sales etc. to name a few.

Im not making any money at this time but im certainly trying to get my name out there for comic illustration.

Though i could use my art for vlogging too...

i've got nothing against scalpers. in a lot of way scalpers are heavily involved in every industry. you even see Ticketmaster running their own scalper competition sites.

back in 2001, Bjork was just coming out with a new album and tour, and i had just been let off a job. i had some money saved up so i ended up buying a bunch of tickets and selling half of them on ebay. ended up recouping my cost, plus having money left over. i had a ton of money left, i ended up buying plane tickets for two of my friends and we flew up to Boston to see the show. it was pretty amazing.

more recently i used to sell bootleg DVDs on ebay. this was before the Batman '66 series was on disc so there was no way to buy these legally. i sold a couple of sets for ~$100 or so. I had downloaded all the episodes, encoded them, authored menus, created original artwork, etc. i had blank DVD cases, label print-outs, the whole thing was a DIY pirate operation. of course i stopped before i got into trouble.

on the other hand, i've known a few friends that sold drugs (weed, molly) to make money. they did really really well. at least the ones that weren't stupid. making a couple thousand in a weekend must be nice. not for me tho...

do what you got to do to make the money, OP. as long as you aren't hurting somebody else, go for it.

I know people running Meetup groups who charge 500yen a pop and can get 30-100 people turn up to their events, which they hold multiple times a week. Especially in Tokyo. So on a good day they're making 50,000 yen + and just using some public space like a park so they don't have to pay any rental fee. That's a good hustle.

People don't understand, I spent 3 days/nights out there driving my ass off and people look down on someone doing this...well some of you may not like it too but I don't care.

First : I get it, I made over $500 and hundreds of positive rating eBay feedback through reselling a free guide on how to put movies on the PSP at launch for $3 each, and at one point I stole most me Xbox 360 games paying roughly $2 in materials for each game; That was many years ago and today I wouldn't steal a plastic cup (that we break or throw out a dozen of a day) from work.

We all have our lines, and similar to the documentary I watched yesterday about small towns who pay thousands of dollars to unlock data that pirates lock, the entire practice hurts everyone : Accepting deals with terrorists encourages more threats, and reselling hurts everyone eventually - For me personally it was when I realized how f****ed up it is trying to see ANY real concert/comedian/etc. If you support reselling as you read this post then I dare you to try and see any stand up act, band or musician you care about live.

If we all acted better the world would be better for everyone.

as long as you aren't hurting somebody else, go for it.
Yea, keyword.
My piracy made me hundreds in my teens...... which was still less than when I tried to buy tickets to see a comedian i liked for a friend and I.
If you're doing harmful s*** I hope you're on top and it doesnt bite you when you want to have some fun in life and find someone bigger than you on the other side.

I think a monero donation address could be quite a good source of income, if you have good content. It cannot be censored or blocked, irregardless of your views or comments.

I'm awful at making money. My job doesn't pay well and I have no energy to do anything outside my working hours anymore.

Good on them but find it ridiculous that people pay money to catch up with others, especially something so bare bones. Other countries do exactly the same thing for free.
