Monitoring the situation in Iran

If US leaves Iran with Uranium, and Iran doesn't make a bomb, it will be terrible look.

They will have to bring uranium back. Cannot risk Iran be the bigger man and earn appreciation for that.

Something tells me Iran will make the most of it, the way their leaders are acting.

For rich countries like most of Europe, USA, Japan, etc. Food prices are going to increase and be a problem.
But for poor countries, it's going to be a disaster. We are talking about famine for 2027.
 
It's been said many times, but what a stupid fucking debacle this stupid ass war is. Lack of strategy, etc. I have no idea what they think has been achieved. They blew up some stuff and killed some people, but they haven't got the uranium, there has been no regime change, etc.
Oil companies are raking it in and people are making loads of money on insider trading, I guess. If you count those as victories.
 
I think what we need to recognize is the solution to this war has been right there the whole time: a ballroom. That'll get it done. World peace, oil flowing like the Amazon.

Earlier this week, Iran's embassy in London posted a statement on its Telegram channel that invited Iranians living in Britain to register for what it described as "Sacrifice for the Homeland" campaign.

The embassy encouraged "all proud sons and daughters of Iran" to "demonstrate unity, loyalty, and national pride in a unified framework," and ended: "Let us all stand together, ready to sacrifice our lives, for it is better than surrendering our country to the enemy."

I've enjoyed observing both the TDS and STD going on.

I think Trump knows he has leverage with Iran right now with the blockade. But should be careful not prolonging for too long imo...the standard of living is lower in Iran, I still think they could hold out longer if needed once they get over the oil revenues going away. Will be much harder for western societies to lower standard of living even a little bit.

They endured seven years of bloody war with Iraq with hundreds of thousands of deaths, Trump really thinks they will not endure a few months of hardship while fighting against the Great Satan?
Unbelievable how Americans keep on making the same mistake. They have zero capability or seemingly interest of seeing the world from their enemy's perspective.
When stock markets crash again, gas reaches $5 and Trump's popularity is in the gutter, he will lift the blockade.

They are so intelligent they settled millions of muslims in their own countries and segregated their towns. This will turn out well, just wait and see. We just need a little more poverty, rape, death, and crime and things will be great. The left had the right idea all along.

Are experts to be trusted even, what about how the hunters/gatherers lived? Find a more 'equal' or 'lower' level to blame like some random hatian and muslim, and pretend inherited billionaires are your friend and the struggle of taxes for them is the same as you. I cant think of a worse scenario for the wellbeing of a country than billionaires selling their companies assets to pay taxes so the welfare leeches can continue being lazy.

Investors lose money, people working on those companies get laid off, people wanting to start companies lose their motivation and endless more third-order consequences.

For example I've put a lot of my hard earned on SpaceX and Tesla and forcing Elon to sell his companies to pay taxes for the government army of bureaucrats to waste and mismanage is a nightmare scenario.

Billionaires and their lifestyles have zero effect on your life or happiness. The government's taxation burden on the other hand directly hurts you and your family.

Sure, particularly the last point. Maybe they put something like DOGE out for a while or something (what happened to that?) to appease population for a bit. Plant an idea in the head, inception style, to make indigenous population believe their forefathers once had wealth, riches, lifestyle that the migrants took away. Distract from the real looting going on in the background where the upper crust continue to slowly take away assets of the previous middle class.

Nostalgia…even based on fantasy, is dangerous. Alas, in this world you either die with TDS, or live long enough to see yourself STD.

The economy is not a zero-sum game. That's basic economics.

Not this retarded commie speak where billionaires are the problem and waves of people who get paid to not work and get free hosing are the "backbone" of society.

Oil is currently at $120 a barrel. Trump needs to change course to find a much more immediate solution. A blockade lasting weeks to months is very hard to sustain with oil creeping steadily past $120, it will bring widespread economic misery.

And I have doubts this blockade alone will ultimately be successful. Iran is huge, it borders about a dozen countries, and it borders more than that if you include maritime borders like the Caspian Sea and Persian Gulf. They can smuggle with their shadow fleet, they have some small pipelines, and Pakistan is opening its borders to Iran to move goods. They've been under sanctions for years and years, so they have experience moving product in this way.

 
My armchair general speculation of the situation (may as well post it here so it forces me to crystallize my thoughts):

  • Trump has, time and again, used his public media apparatus to confuse his enemies. (Whether or not it actually works is a separate debate)
  • Trump now promoting the idea of an indefinite blockade until Iran is ready to make a deal makes no sense. Literally the only thing this achieves is sending oil prices higher. If he has actually decided to do this, there is zero value in saying so publicly.
  • Why would he say this publicly? Because he has privately decided to do the opposite: resume attacks.
  • What is he waiting for? Boxer ARG is still about 10 days away from the Iran theatre. These are the amphibious vehicles needed to physically secure an island or beachhead.
  • Why does he have to act now (instead of indefinite blockade)? Midterms are in November and the US economy cannot sustain $100+ WTI oil prices until then without entering a recession. It is going to take months to normalize oil supply. He needs oil prices to get back to some semblance of normality by Sept/Oct or the midterms are over and he is guaranteed to be impeached again.

At what point in a week, month, year is the President scrutized on their perforamce/decision making?

Parlimentray democracies hold leaders to account, there's no way Trump could get away with his antics in an institution like the British Parliment. Trump wouldnt last 5 minutes in PMQs.
