Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate ships 4 million units

GOTY for me after 300 hours of hunting. I've never spent as long playing a game online before, not even MH Tri which hooked me on the series.

If it was MH5 you wouldn't find many people to say otherwise.

With MHX being a spin-off of sorts, that throws the pattern off. I mean, do we even know if MHX has a G-Rank or not?

Nope. Sure hope it does though, I always find the games without a bit lacking in terms of endgame motivation for whatever reason.
 
Great game that I'm still playing to this day. Very well deserved. I just hope I can put more of a dent in it before Monster Hunter X comes out in NA.

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate shipped 2.7 million units in Japan as of December 31, 2014.

Western sales should be around 1.2 million since it is likely that it has shipped another 100,000 units in Japan since then. Budget version was released some months ago there and these sales are never included so now all shipment increases will belong to the western version.
 
Great news. I just started playing recently and while I'm still mostly lost on all the nuances of the game's mechanics, I've loved every moment of the 30 odd hours I've put into the game.

Im 300 hours in. Just got my G2 permit. I still have a lot to do in this game.
 
i will gladly buy mon hun stories. but iam not sure about mon hun x since iam only 100h into mh4u and i still feel like a beginner(only rank7)....
 
Still not expecting them to bring over X. It seems that their plan is to space out the releases in the west and only put out the G versions. While I personally would buy every MH game on day one, I could see why they might think we'd get sick of the games fast if they did yearly releases like Japan. This way they also maintain an image of the games having fuck-tons of content and avoid another 'Tri' backlash.

It does seem likely that we'll get Stories at least.

Then again Capcom makes business decisions via dartboard so who the hell knows what they will do. I just wish the series finally becoming successful over here meant they would stop dragging their heels/trolling with localization announcements.

here's hoping in the next months for an announcement of MHX for the west.

Ultimate is the localized version. Japan got MH4G.
 
Well-deserved, for as good as the game was and how Capcom took very good care of the game post-launch with all that free DLC.

Of course, now, my eyes on MHX... *whetstone grinding intensifies*

I honestly think MH3U and MH4U are flukes and we wont see another MH game prob for another 4-5 titles. So we will get Monster Hunter 7U or something like that.
 
I'm glad to hear that. It's a fantastic and huge game, it deserves to be successfull.
I've played it for more than 80 hours and i haven't seen half of what it has to offer yet.
 
I want the series to exapnd now, X is in the right direction. More monsters, more locations. More weapons.
However, I would love an area you could personalise that other players can come and visit, kind of like phantasy star universe player shops.

Either way, WII u or NX or whatever, I want MH to scale higher and higher.
Best series by far been around since ps2 online.

So true. It's a tough position for MH clones. They typically "don't feel right" coming from MH, and if they end up being too similar then why not just play MH?
