Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate to be released on February 13 + Limited edition bundle

Now fight him solo. You can't comment on the difficulty of a monster if you've only fought it with a full group. Everything is easy with 4 hunters.

Iwata must hate us for some reason. I wonder why the hell Capcom agreed to this BS.

Completely agree, hunters today are soft and don't know the real challenge of this series.

There, I said it!

I will likely try multiplayer to see what all the craze is about, but I'm from the old monster hunter school, where you soloed everything. You don't know a monster's difficulty until you've went one on one with him.

My most memorable moment in this series was killing a high ranked plesioth with 3 seconds left on the clock, solo.

So im playing the demo know. How do you jump and ride the monsters. A cutscene did it for me, but then the tutorial said I could do it for myself.

Tried every button and nothing.

When you jump off a ledge, attack. You'll have a chance to floor them and hop on them. With the Insect Glaive, you can also choose to pole vault and attack in mid air that way. With the Lance, you can choose to jump at the end of a charge.

Only the Lance and Insect Glaive can jump on their own. Other weapons need to jump off of a ledge to do it.

Ah, you need a ledge. Thanks guys.

The game is a lot different but still kind of the same. It will probably feel much easier to you. Much less 'Plesioth hitbox the size of a planet' bullshit.

A lot of weapons have been totally revamped and everything got new moves. Depending on what weapon(s) you use, the game might feel very different - LS and hunting horns especially.

My god. Plesioth was some real bull.. The green plesioth was the worst, that thing never died no matter how many attempts I try, even knowing all of its attack patterns. That side thrust attack was the worst. So I'm glad.

I try to master all of the weapons, but LS and Hunting Horns weren't my strong ones. So relearning shouldn't be a problem. Sword and Shield, Hammer, and Great Swords were my choices.

Alright, I ordered the MH New 3DS XL from Gamestop. I think if the Majora one was purple, I would have tried to get one, but I've had the gold 3DS XL for a bit and I think it's time to change away from gold. I wish they would have allowed for ship to store, though. I paid for 1 day shipping and I imagine I still won't get it until the Monday after release.

I tried the demo. The game DOES look terrible and I'm not even one of those people that complain over graphics. I'm still going to get this considering the content of the game but I'm still disappointed. I hoped that it wouldn't look like that. The differences with the Wii U version is just way too big.

I'm sorry if this sounds like ranting or port begging or whatever but honestly this is the first thing I thought when I played it. I'm still excited about the title but I can't hide my disappointments with the visuals...

Yeah, can't help but agree with that. Visually, it looks very, very muddled.

3 Ultimate looks vastly clearer to me on the 3DS.

Agreed. Co-op completely kills any challenge the game have.

Debatable. Tri's 4x the power with four players online was noticeable at times and did leave some mega challenge, but nothing does beat the 1v1 50 minute matches where you escape with barely a slither of health and time!

I'm not sure about the state of SnS since I hear it got some changes in MH4. But hammer and GS should feel familiar.

I stepped out of my comfort zone with 3U and intentionally picked a weapon I'd never used before - ended up LOVING hunting horns. They are an awesome alternative to hammers for certain monsters since they have so much more vertical reach. I was mainly a hammer user before and only picked up other weapons out of necessity - in Tri, I was able to hammer 100% of the time. But I'm glad I branched out a bit in 3U.

I'm considering going full gunner in 4U. I started playing HBG almost all the time in 3U at some point. It would probably be too much of a pain to do village quests with guns though, you really need a decent stockpile of ammunition and certain armor skills to support them. Like evade distance increase is a MUST for HBG. If I can get that in low rank I'll give it a shot.

plus the c-stick-nub-thingy

some say the framerate is higher on the NN3ds? Is this confirmed ?

I was told that the N3DS solves the online framerate issues, and it has faster loadtimes.

If I pre-ordered it on Gamestop, how fast is their lowest/free shipping?

Also, the lowest shipping on their site is $9.50... fuck off...

Oh god yes! Even a nice variety of small monsters to go along with them, not that that's a huge deal to me. I was expecting it to be bigger, but not THAT much bigger!

Well I was initially not going to buy the n3DS but a friend of mine just offer to take my 3DS XL off my hands for a very tempting price so I have a question:

Does the game that comes with this system pre loaded on the card OR is it a physical copy?

I ended up walking away from per-ordering the MH bundle. Yes, you need to pay it in full in store. No, There is not in store pick up. Also sounds like trading in your old 3DS would be a pain in the ass for these bundles. Sounds like you would have to return the bundle in store then trade in your old one to purchase your new one.

It's preloaded sadly. The JP version seemed to have a pack-in cart....... :(

I guess this is only "sadly" if you're a collector..... but I can see how having it pre-installed would be awesome since it'll be the game I play the most.

I never played MH before, but from the looks of it, it seems to have a following. Is this anything like Pokemon?

It's amazing how often I see the series compared to Pokemon considering how hilariously unlike Pokemon it is. I guess it gets confused with Monster Rancher.

But no, it's basically an action game focused on large boss fights. Its RPG elements involve upgrading your weapons and armor with stuff you get from monsters you hunt. It's loved and hated for its 'deliberate' feeling combat system and unforgiving difficulty - I'd like to note that MH fans are often also Demon's/Dark Souls fans.

Its popularity in Japan is mostly due to multiplayer, it never caught on nearly as much in NA but it has a niche following.
