Man, I can't believe the Butz name ever stuck. Read the JP name and Bartz was the name you get unless you intentionally went for Butz from it -_-.

Is there a romanization of the name in any official materials or are people just latching on to the fan translation? There were some screenshots in another thread and I don't see how the name there could be read as Butz.

Actually, the japanese SNES version didn't have a default name. It was "Battsu" on the back of the box, but no default name in the game itself. And "Battsu" would be "Butz" "Ba-tsu" would be Bartz.

that already happened in FFT

Delita's sister is named Teta and Teta is boob in spanish.

well not exactly like how you want it but it's probably the closest you'll get

Not to mention that Mune (Of Masa and Mune) is breasts in japanese. :D

I like Lenna better than Riena used in FFAnth, it's the name used in the fan translation. Whixh I thought was a better translation than Square EA's. I never liked Bartz but teh literal translation of his name is Butz (used in the fan-trans.). I think I prefer Butz over Bartz, maybe not. They're both bad IMO.

For reasons that I cannot fully explain, I found it incredibly hilarious when my girlfriend added an "l" to his name to create "Butzl."

Yeah, I'm almost positive that it appears as "Butz" in some of the artbooks and such.

Either can be seen as Bartz. English names in Japanese isn't a hard and fast translation.

IMPROVED SOUND!? :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol

FFV was my firts japanese RPG back in 1994/1995. I have special love with it. I will buy it.

I hope they doesn't screw too much, but I know isn't gonna stay at the original level.

There are english screens? How does the text look? FF4 was horrible and practically unplayable on the GBMicro

I had to pull up a few screenshots of FFIV Advance to do a direct comparison, but yes, the font looks different. It's very similar, but the letters are... wider. I'm not sure how else to explain it. It definitely seems like an improvement.

I'm also a bit curious about the "improved sound" ...considering the SNES has the ability to play back higher bit rate audio samples, I believe... not to mention the SPC700 has 8 PCM channels whereas the GBA only has 2, in addition to the 4 analog synth channels. :lol

Probably like the GBA version of FFIV, where the music was slightly remixed (and for the most part, sounded better, IMHO).

FFIV was all kinds of awesome and readable on a GBMicro. I put around 80 hours into exclusively on that system, finishing the main quest, AND all of the sidequests and bonus content. Hell, I even got my main party up to level 99!
