KH3 released on PC when the mainline titles have only been on Playstation consoles.

Yeah, sorry man. I just would really like to read about his thoughts on the game, since I can't seem to find anything on it, anymore. Let me know, if you ever find something!EDIT: oh, wait, you were asking about the liking FFXII part. I'll try to find that...
I think he's mainly referring to FFXV.KH3 released on PC when the mainline titles have only been on Playstation consoles.
I believe the cinematic trailer was kind of a touched up "we think we can hit these kinds of graphics once we're finished" thing, most of it was probably real on some level (as in, it's not all just pre-rendered BS footage that they haven't even started working on), but with an added layer of polish & maybe some added effects that were not yet in a playable build. The combat vid should all be from a playable build and was probably along the lines of what the playable build of the game looked like around the time they made the trailer. There is definitely at least a mix in builds. For instance, some of the stuff looks as good as anything we have seen revealed for next gen, for instance: indoor fight scene and the leviathon fight. Other stuff, such as the close up of the protags looks like it has a lot of PS3/X360 level assets...
Makes as much sense as KHIII on Xbone, which is: a lot.KH3 released on PC when the mainline titles have only been on Playstation consoles.

How many of the XIII/LR team are working on XV, right now? Or is it safe to say that those guys are already working on the next big project like XVI or even VIIR (who knows )?
I mean, it's known that Kitase left XV for a new project recently. Maybe it's really X-3, despite SE denying it a while ago^^
That's exceedingly optimistic, but I can't knock your candor, Perfo.I guess Kitase & Toriyama's core team is starting a new project (that liek you said is probably going to be FF16, 7r or 10-3) while most of the staff involved with XIII, ARR and other major games are now speeding up 15's development. I guess they'll be realising one major FF every year starting from 15 if they handle development well this time.
You do realize that Japan is a country, with many diverse companies in it, and not a single, homogeneous entity, right?Eh, on one hand the drought this gen really was brought around by, among other factors, FFXIV 1.0 exploding spectacularly.
On the other, Japan really isn't in any position to pump out yearly installments of a franchise the way Activision or Ubisoft do. (and even those have multiple teams working on the same franchise) Not even a giant like Square Enix. Not unless they start outsourcing to their non-Japanese studios as well, and I'm not sure if that's a route they want to take with their flagship franchise.

Nope, not at all. Saying that "Japan" as an entity is not in a shape to deliver yearly installments of AAA franchises is just plain silly. Certainly, Square-Enix could output a Final Fantasy with the level of content found in AC games every year, if they wanted to. The quality would suffer, sure, but doesn't AC's quality suffer under its tight schedule? And you do realize when I said "Japan" I was referring to the myriad developers from the region, right?
Because that has been true the entire gen. Games developed on an AAA scale are beyond scarce in Japan.
(Which is okay because Tales series, etc)
edit: reading it again is your post for real lol
i feel like i'm getting baited
If SE didn't insist on making each FF over with a new mythology and gameplay system every time, and dedicated all of their teams to the effort, sure, I think they could. Actually, didn't they do just that those past couple of years with the FF: XIII sequels and FF: XIV ARR(which was pretty much a new game)? How many of those franchises listed have had a yearly release or close to it in anything past the PSX era? Which is my entire point, when things started ballooning out of control as far as dev costs/resources went, you couldn't find many, if any Japanese company who had the resources to pull it off year after year.
And no, saying Square Enix could release a game every year on the scope of Assassin's Creed is utter bollocks.
edit: Actually, here's a rather simple (albeit flawed, but ignore this for now because it's besides the point I'm getting at) way to highlight the difference. Check out the credits roll for the Assassin's Creed games or Call of Duty games and compare that to the credits roll of, say, FFXIII, XIII-2 and Lightning Returns. And then factor that in with the development cycle of each game.
I have confidence that these games will come out, especially now that Versus has the pressures and expectations associated with a mainline title. But this year? Nope.

That's most likely the absolute worst case scenario, as it would basically mean Square Enix Japan wouldn't release anything too big & internally developed in (over) two years outside of a HD remake (or two) and FFXIV & DQX Expansions. I think we can assume that FFXV is probably the furthest along from their announced & unannounced PS4Bone games, so anything they might announce in 2014 & 2015 for PS4Bone would not be out before FFXV unless they were in huge trouble with the game, but they CAN'T go 2014 & most/all of 2015 without a game as big as FFXV. That FFXIII struggled was somewhat okay because they had a very strong handheld market to fall back on, a market that was still relatively cheap & quick to develop games for. Now Vita is a bust and even 3DS games aren't that cheap or quick to produce with the level of hardware it has.I think the best we can hope for is late 2015 / early 2016.
But no release dates. Excited for new trailers/info, but expectations kept firmly in check.

Something like December 25th, 2014 isn't completely impossible but it would probably have to mean SQEX would have to put huge focus on FFXV (kinda like they had everyone and their mother working on XIV2.0 at some point), that like FFXIII, XIII-2 & Lightning Returns, they'd focus on just finishing the game and getting it out in Japan first (and then finish localizing for NA & PAL in 2-4 months) and that the development advances without any hiccups or late additions. Late Q1/Q2 2015 is somewhat possible even without a huge push like that, mid-to-late Summer is already a bit far away considering the work on the PS4Bone versions started in 2011. Late 2015 or early 2016 would mean Square Enix is royally screwed forever, since that would mean that no matter what they try to do and how much they try to improve their development pipelines, it still takes them forever to develop anything bigger, which of course isn't any kind of sustainable development practice for a big publisher They need to be able to push a game of the level of FFXV within 1,5+ years after XIV 2.0's completion freed resources, especially when work started somewhat properly in 2010 and they entered full development in 2011 already.
FFXV to release in 20XV.
Bank on it.

This is a good point. They have to be able to keep things moving through the pipeline. E3 will probably give is indication as to whether we see late 2014, or early 2015. I'm thinking that later potentially, release it when people are looking to replenish themselves with games after the holiday craze. I don't think they can really afford to put heads with so much competition after spending a decade on XV.
Can't remember where I heard it, but it seemed like they had over 50% of the over world completed. So really another year of asset creation/polish and level scripting will probably finish up the games development.
So you guys think early 2015? I would love to think that, but I dont know. Seems like it should but release early 2015. I just can't see it.
I have a big feeling that if FFXV is shown it will be in a private theater.
Same for TGS.
I'm expecting at the very end of the generation we will get a new trailer with a transformed logo as the game is announced for Playstation 5.
In the meantime At TGS this year Final Fantasy XIII-4 will be announced.
I'd say Winter 2014 in Japan and Spring 2015 Worlwide.
I dunno, seems pretty reasonable, it must be pretty advanced by now (even if they don't release any info).
Said everyone for the past 10 years.TGS, at the very, very, very earliest.
90% of FFXV and KH3 threads, are news of news instead of news....just give us a new trailer for for god sakes a screenshot once every few months
Unless they've run into some big problems in FFXV's actual development, yeah, I don't think it would be completely impossible for it to be released in, say, March 2015. At that point, they would have been working on the "next-gen only" version for about 3 years, in addition to the maybe (over) half a year they worked on a cross-gen versio and ~1,5 years they developed it for PS3 with a smaller team (+ all the pre-production before that). So you guys think early 2015? I would love to think that, but I dont know. Seems like it should but release early 2015. I just can't see it.
SQEX doesn't do "secret mega theaters" anymore or even in the case that they do show something a bit more privately, nowadays they usually release the trailers for the public pretty soon (case in point, KHIII's early gameplay (test) footage was shown at that Disney event and it didn't take too long for it to be put online for all to see, IIRC it might've been just a few hours or so).I have a big feeling that if FFXV is shown it will be in a private theater.
It will be a world wide release. They are doing all the localisations and VA for the regions alongside development.
Japan has especially learned as of late that WW releases greatly benefit their ability to move titles in the west before people become jaded or invested in something newer.
