I love how Nintendo took a key game like Metroid II and completely remade it for the 3DS. I always wanted to buy this game to complete my Metroid collection. However, I didn't want to go back to that game's dated design. This remake is perfect for me and I thought why not suggest a few more like this? I'd buy ground up remakes of games such as:
01. Super Mario Bros. 2 HD
Design new, more colorful levels and expand concepts.
02. Zelda II: The Adventure of Link HD
Remake the gameplay with a modern metroidvania style, no overworld.
03. Zelda: Link's Awakening HD
Use a Link to The Past style graphics.
04. Super Mario Bros. Deluxe HD
The GBC game but with the full screen view of the original, with full backwards level movement like Mario Maker has show us on its "remakes", and perhaps a new power up with another 50 levels that use it.
05. Super Mario 64 HD
Simply remake the DS version with better graphics and analog controls. Half-way done already.
06. Donkey Kong (Gameboy)
In this case stay very faithful to the original but with some kick ass 2D sprites and animation.
I'd totally buy all of these. Sure, I want new games, and I get why some people dislike remakes for that reason. That said, I'm also extremely happy that Nintendo slowed down enough to remake some older, classic games like Star Fox 64, Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, and Metroid II. Ports like this would keep the 3DS more relevant and the Switch free of dry spells.
