More Remakes Like Metroid II 3DS Please!!

I love how Nintendo took a key game like Metroid II and completely remade it for the 3DS. I always wanted to buy this game to complete my Metroid collection. However, I didn't want to go back to that game's dated design. This remake is perfect for me and I thought why not suggest a few more like this? I'd buy ground up remakes of games such as:

01. Super Mario Bros. 2 HD

Design new, more colorful levels and expand concepts.

02. Zelda II: The Adventure of Link HD

Remake the gameplay with a modern metroidvania style, no overworld.

03. Zelda: Link's Awakening HD

Use a Link to The Past style graphics.

04. Super Mario Bros. Deluxe HD

The GBC game but with the full screen view of the original, with full backwards level movement like Mario Maker has show us on its "remakes", and perhaps a new power up with another 50 levels that use it.

05. Super Mario 64 HD

Simply remake the DS version with better graphics and analog controls. Half-way done already.

06. Donkey Kong (Gameboy)

In this case stay very faithful to the original but with some kick ass 2D sprites and animation.

I'd totally buy all of these. Sure, I want new games, and I get why some people dislike remakes for that reason. That said, I'm also extremely happy that Nintendo slowed down enough to remake some older, classic games like Star Fox 64, Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, and Metroid II. Ports like this would keep the 3DS more relevant and the Switch free of dry spells.

No HD remake will be like Metroid 2 on 3DS lol. I wouldn't mind Link's Awakening DX and Link to the Past made with the ALBW engine as the final couple of Zeldas on the system.

I'm actually impressed why haven't seen any 2D Zelda remake (in before people call Link between Worlds a remake).

OP I applaud you for SMB2, would buy it day one.

Still waiting for a proper remake of SM64.

Zelda II would probably be the most interesting one to me, since man, trying to go back to that now...it's really impossible for me. I find it unplayable.

I'd love to see remakes of the following games:

Commodore 64
Bruce Lee
Skool Daze
International Karate +
Last Ninja 1-3
Street Hassle
Turrican 1-2

Master System
Wonder Boy In Monsterland
Alex Kidd In Miracle World
Sonic 1-2
Kung Fu Kid

Gameboy
Gargoyle's Quest
Super Mario Land
Metal Gear Solid
Shantae

Game Gear
GG Shinobi 1-2
Sonic Drift 1-2
The Lucky Dime Caper

Saturn
Fighters Megamix
Panzer Dragoon 1-Zwei-Saga
Doe Hard Arcade
Nights

Not every single game out there needs a remake.

Metroid 1 & 2 were in dire need of updates due to how rudimentary and archaic they were to play by modern standards, far more than the original SMB and Legend of Zelda.

You are making a lot of assumptions that the Metroid 2 Remake no longer has a dated design, or even is good at all, considering it isn’t out yet and you haven’t played it. Let’s not forget how excited everyone was about a new hybrid 2D/3D Metroid game made by a collaboration between the original Metroid designer and Team Ninja...

Having said that, track down AM2R, it is amazing, and if nothing else is visually superior to this new remake.

Samus Returns is the second in a series of Metroid remakes. Surely Super Metroid is the next logical step?

gilding the lily. super metroid as it is was basically an expanded remake/reimagining of metroid nes. remaking it would really send us into snake eating its own tail territory.

besides, the game is too polished and good to remake.

Samus Returns marks the first time 2D Metroid is innovating on its mechanics since Super Metroid. You don't think Nintendo are planning on implementing them into a fully reimagined Super Metroid?

I think Super Metroid i like it alot but i wish it had the speed gameplay wise like the modern remakes and Fusion.

Hopefully someday:)

I hope so!

I also hope it doesn't take another 13 years.

All you need is a dedicated fan collaborative to receive a cease and a desist for Nintendo to remake Super Metroid.

Post some fake articles on here about a fan remake, Kotaku will run with them because Kotaku, Nintendo will develop Super Metroid Remastered for Switch.

I believe ALBW started off as a ALttP remake do I'm pretty sure ALBW is the closest thing we'll get for a long time.

I always thought a remade trilogy of the first three donkey Kong country games with a hand drawn art style would be amazing

3DS really feels like a missed opportunity when Nintendo shodul have recreated games liek Super Mario Bros 3 and Zelda with 3D effects. Yet they only did it with some of their games.

I'll always champion remakes of 20+ year old titles that need the work.

Ports and remasters of games that are barely a half-decade old can get fucked.

I'll leave this here:

"Then I heard of MercurySteam and they were looking to take on the challenge of remaking a Metroid game. It wasn’t Metroid II, but again I’d heard about this desire from the MercurySteam team."

It's reasonable to believe Metroid 2 isn't the final remake planned for Metroid. We've had Zero Mission, we're about to have Samus Returns and I believe Super Metroid is next.

Yeah, but hopefully they are for the Switch. Metroid 2 remake had to be for the Switch, but Nintendo is being hesitant to discontinue the 3DS in order to make way for Switch success. I think that if they don't abandon the 3DS sooner than later, it's going to bite them in the ass.

Either way, I would think that Metroid 2 remake will eventualy release for the Switch.
