More than 100 PS4 games planned for 2014

I'm going to get a list started:

N++
Rogue Legacy
Binding of Isaac Rebirth
Infamous Second Son
Watch Dogs
Strider
Rayman Legends
Stealth Inc Ultimate Edition
1001 Spikes
Secret Ponchos
Driveclub
The Order 1886
Daylight
Mercenary Kings
Thief
FF XIV
The Witness
Planetside 2
Oddworld New 'N Tasty
Galak-Z
Alien Isolation

That leaves room for The Last Guardian!

It's a legitimate counter argument to it.
It's not. A game is a game. Indies can be just as meaty, deep & complex (or lack content, superficial and simple) as the best (or worst) of non-indies. Just because they are often 2d or the 3d is simpler doesn't change that unarguable fact.

P.s.: Y'all are just asking for a massive Amirox post that smacks everyone that's belittling indie releases in the face :p

Kingdom Under Fire 2
(Likely) Deep Down in Q 3/4
Dragon Age: Whatever Its Called
Witcher 3
Lords of the Fallen

Lots of RPGs I'll be grabbing, looks like.

I don't think that's an important distinction to many people any more.

It's still a distinction that should be considered though, especially when a lot of those indies are multiplat as well.

In the middle of a game drought, the last thing I want to be told is, "Now on PS4! This game you already own on PC!"

That being said, where is Transistor at?

who buys a next gen system to play indie games?

they need some blockbuster titles IMO.
I buy systems to play games, I don't divide games based on silly, inane reasons. Something like having Hyper Light Drifter on the go is just as much a reason to own a Vita for me as Gravity Rush is.

what are you trying to say? i'm confused. 100 ps4 games is a counter argument to the existence of indie games?

No I'm saying using indie games to up the numbers is something I don't think they should do.

I can see why my comment would be jumped on but it's the perception of the quality/timeof indie games vs retail games.

It's difficult to quantify this indie game vs retail game without totally spoiling the thread, so I'll just say I don't really have an interest in indie games other than an inquisitive look through the shop window. So tell me what the retail games are.

But how many of those will be AAA retail exclusive games published by SCE releasing during the November/December Holiday season?! We all know that's what really matters....

maybe they should uh, start releasing them now

That's not how game development works.

Why?

This board makes me so sad sometimes.

He forgot about "The Order", "Drive Club" "Infamous SS", multiplatform next-gen only games, etc.

Also, I've been playing indie games more than AAA, after "Don't Starve" and "Outlast" I haven't even bothered touching AC4

100 games is fantastic. Hopefully one of them is "The Last Guardian," a holiday release would be icing on the cake for this year

Are we talking an Earthly year or a Biblical year or the solar revolution of some planet we have yet to discover?

Because I'm lacking faith here.

The two aren't mutually exclusive. The Order 1886 and Infamous are coming out for example, as first party showcase titles, plus whatever else the 3rd parties bring for both platforms.

Me... I do. I have played more Don't Starve then I will most blockbuster games. Multiplayer rarely ever keeps my interest and most "blockbuster" games are a one and done SP campaign.

Bring me new and different and I will be a happy gamer.

Gotta put an asterisk on those 100 games, a lot of them are gonna be digital titles. We'll be lucky if even 15 of them are internal Sony studio games from SCEA, ND, and SCEJ.

JUST ANNOUNCE THE LAST GUARDIAN ALREADY DAMN IT!

End of 2014 will no doubt have

Fifa 15
Madden 15, or is it 26?
NHL 15
New COD
UFC 15
NBA live 15
NBA 2k15
WWE 2K15
GTA V (maybe)
Miami Hotline 2
New Need For Speed
Another lego game
And another lego game
Maybe a third lego game? (Star wars, dc and marvel?)
Amazing Spiderman 2

Ah there it is. Well, I kind of feel sorry for you because there are a lot of great games out there made by small teams without $200 million budgets, but to each their own I guess.

A lot of indie games are of higher quality and offer the same amount of content or even more for a smaller amount of money than retail games. It's a misguided, ignorant perception that indies are somehow of lower quality that some people have because, you know, stupid reasons.

Also, an indie dev can put just as much effort into getting a game done as an AAA studio, especially relatively speaking. Of course team sizes are smaller, but indie devs have to put up just as many crazy hours (if not even more, if they have to try to get the game out before they are homeless and starving) to develop their games as AAA devs.

It's your loss. Indie games have been some of the most fun & best games of recent years, offering much better value, clever new ideas and more polished & deeper gameplay than a lot of the biggest yearly retail releases. There have been stories/narratives as deserving (or even more) of best writing rewards as Last of Us and games that offer as fun (or even more fun) a multiplayer as bigger games.
