The new issue of Game Informer has the first pics and info on the follow up to Deception. The big news is that there will be over 60 playable characters. Every character in the series will be in. There will also be a create-a-character mode, custom fatalities and a new Konquest mode based on Shaolin Monks. Apparently the theme of the game is finality, this will be a big finale to the current genration and the end of the current story.

Game Informer are Mortal Kombat fanboys total.

So it's not next-gen then?

No, Ps2 and Xbox. Out in October.

I am VERY unhappy with it using the MKDA engine. All the new features and characters will not matter if the gameplay is still slow, sluggish and missing basic features that have been standard since like Tekken 2.

In that issue, Ed boon says he wants to make one last MK on current-gen consoles so he can close the circle. Wiping the slate clean for next gen. so you might as well just forget about this game.

I always thought the MK games were pretty shitty, but Shaolin Monks was a good rental. Too short though. So yeah, Shaolin Monks sequel for next-gen plz. I agree with those people.

Hopefully they'll fix up the fighting engine so it'll resemble a playable game.

That being said, I loved Deception for everything BUT the fighting game. But the game IS a fighting game. Its so funny how all the mini-games and extras are more fleshed out than what the game is supposed to be.

Never looked into it. Was shaolin monks any good?

Fun game, biggest issue are IMO that it's short, some levels it's easy to run around and forget which way you're suppose to be heading to advance the story(or what to do to advance the story), and the AI difficulty level doesn't ramp up evenly again IMO.

This sounds great. Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks was one of the most surprising games of last year, their online modes for Deception were pretty decent and the create-a-character could be interesting.

Yet, all of this won't matter if the game is still as slugish as freakin' War Gods.

If they can just speed this up and make it play like a Mortal Kombat game, this could be great. . but they said they did that with Deception so forgive me if I lack faith.

ERMAC AND RAIN PLAYABLE....HOLY SHIT IM EXCITED
Ermac was already playable in Deception.

Anyway, without an engine change I have no hope that this'll actually play well, so I may just skip it completely and wait for the "next-gen" MK. The fact that it contains every character from the series is tempting however.

Listen to this man!

I hope it's their first game before releasing the next-gen fighter.
