The beloved VR puzzle-platforming franchise Moss is finally coming to PC and consoles and your flatscreen, non-VR display. Moss: The Forgotten Relic combines both Moss games into a single, unified experience designed for screens rather than VR headsets. It's due out this summer for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 1 and 2.

Heard good things about these, not sure how interesting they would be outside of the VR space though. Maybe worth checking out for the right price.

Without the VR perspective I wonder if they have right-stick 'peeking' mapped.

Assuming it's well optimised for Switch/Switch 2 it's probably a game I'd rather play on a small display.

I absolutely adored both games on PlayStation VR and VR2. If the Switch 2 port is solid, I'll pick it up and replay it. My larger hope is it gets a physical release on a proper game card (not a key), but one step at a time.

Folks who never got into VR are in for a treat with these games!

For a moment I was excited that we were finally getting a new Moss game. Color me disappointed. Good for people without VR, I guess. Personally this would feel like playing Tearaway on the PS4 instead of the Vita like intended.

I really hope this version makes people want to play in VR afterwards. Being in a living diorama is a completely different experience.

as a non vr fan this is excellent news definitely be picking this one up.
and I really do hope if it's possible more VR games go this route

VR is the %80 of the novelty these titles have and where they shine, itll be a pretty basic puzzle-action franchise without that.

I enjoyed Moss as a VR title (haven't played Moss 2 yet), but it's an extremely basic game that heavily relies on being a VR diorama. As yet another flat game, I wouldn't have enjoyed it that much - far too basic and repetitive puzzles/combat.

Polyarc Dev Update - 0.1

Reflections on adapting Moss for PC and consoles

Hey all, it's Danny from Polyarc.

We've been reading all the reactions to the announcements this week, and I wanted to say thank you. It's encouraging to see all the excitement, questions, debates, and curiosity coming from both new and familiar fans alike. I wanted to take a moment to share a little more about why we are making Moss: The Forgotten Relic.

Why We Are Making This Game

For a long time, we've wanted more people to have the chance to experience Quill's story. Over the years, many players connected with Quill, were drawn to her world, and expressed a desire to experience the adventure for themselves, but for a number of various reasons were unable to play in VR. Bringing Moss: The Forgotten Relic to PC and consoles is our way of finally opening that door, and we are looking forward to welcoming all the new players about to embark on their own journey with Quill for the first time.

Small Team, Big Adventure

So much of the original experience was built around player perspective, physical presence, and the relationship between the Reader and Quill. Reimagining that for PC and consoles meant adapting everything — from controls, combat, and pacing to authoring entirely new camera systems that will guide players through gameplay while preserving the emotional moments at the heart of Quill's adventure. Our goal with every change was to create an experience that feels at home on every platform.

Uniting Moss, Moss: Book II and Twilight Garden DLC into one adventure and adapting the experience for PC, handheld, and console took years of work from our team. All of that effort was so that Moss: The Forgotten Relic would still feel like Moss wherever it's played.

Questions, Speculation, and VR

Another question we've seen come up a lot this week is whether bringing Moss to PC and consoles means Polyarc is "moving away" from VR. Expanding to include platforms beyond VR is both a way for us to share Quill's story with more players and to help ensure we can keep making games for years to come.

VR is an important part of Polyarc's story, and that hasn't changed. It's where Moss was born, it's where many players first connected with Quill, and it remains a medium with great potential. Today, our focus is on making Moss: The Forgotten Relic the best experience it can be and giving this magical world a chance to reach more people than ever before.

What We're Excited About Next

We're planning to drop more developer posts, live sessions, and FAQ across Steam and in our official Discord server. Keep an eye on our social channels, too.

We're so grateful to everyone who's supported our tiny hero from the beginning. The reason Quill's story has the opportunity to reach new players is because this community believed in her first, and one of the most exciting parts of this release for us is knowing that longtime Moss players now get to introduce Quill to people who've never had the chance to meet her before.

Thanks for reading our first Developer Update! More to come, and stay tuned for IGN Live where we'll have more Moss: The Forgotten Relic news to share.

I played the 1st game in VR. Have not gotten around to finishing the 2nd.

1st game starts off really nice with the forest and village, but then the game quickly takes you inside dark brick dungeons for the rest of the game. It's really an ugly game for most of it's length.
VR is it's main selling point. Otherwise it's a really dull game where you have to tank bugs over and over.

Damn. Sorry to hear that. I didn't make it that far as my VR headset was so uncomfortable to wear.
