Most aesthetically appealing console of all time?

I don't think any Reach 360s are actually browngrey, I think there's just awkward lighting on that one. Mine is clearly silver but I can see how some bad lighting might make it look like that.

Wow, the Neo Geo has a very appealing look; too bad about all those ugly blunders that were made with it though.

Was about to say, it's a pretty smart looking console, shame I've heard just enough bad things to not want it. Heard the stick does'nt work on PC either.

Nothing compares to the WonderMega. It's a Genesis/Sega CD console, and the cartridges go into that horizontal line on the left of the console.

Agreed and there it is. You saved the thread. Wondermega's design is on another level on its own. No other console looks this damn cool.

I was 13 when this console was released. Already a huge fan of PlayStation after the PS1, this was the first time I owned a console from day 1 of release. The blue logo, the blue power light, heck, even the DVDs were blue! It just looked like the future. I can look at that console today and the nostalgia hit is so damn powerful I still think this console looks like the future. So, obviously I'm in the minority here (maybe even alone), but that's why this console's form resonates so much with me. Pure nostalgia, and some of the best games I've ever played.

Completely agreed. I'm in love with that console.

I may be alone, but I LOVE the Xillia PS3.

Also, it doesn't really come across well in pictures, but the last generation of ps2's were adorable and had perfect form. Actually, I like every generation of PS2.

And there's just something about blue consoles...may have to pick one of these up:

For me it's always going to be the Gamecube but I admit I probably wear nostalgia goggles. Wii and WiiU got nothin' on GC though of that I'm sure

I think I'm in the minority who loved the PS3 Phat as well.

Although there was a tangible sense of awe aboard the Enterprise when media and gadget guru George Takei presented the ship Playstation to the crew.

First post nails it. The Super Famicom and PAL SNES also come to mind. The NTSC SNES looks like shit.

As far as Sony boxes go, PS2 Slim > PS3 Slim > PS2 Phat > PS1 > PS3 George Foreman Edition > PS3 Super Slim > PS4 > PSOne. PS4 is a nice machine, but the eraser-shaped design is butt ugly IMO (especially so when horizontally placed, like all my electronics).

I initially thought I would put my vote on the Dreamcast, but seeing it now I really don't like it as much as I used to.

For me it's a toss-up between the DSi, GB Micro, and the white Vita.

Probably the ps4 I guess.

Literally every other one (sans black wii) looked like an ugly electronic product from the 80s/90s. Some have an excuse of being from that era, some are even worse because they should have known better

Anyone remember this madness..?

Commodore_Amiga_CD32_002.jpg

remember? I bought that day one, along with trolls or whatever the fuck they had at launch.

Any time I'm wondering whether I should buy a modern console at launch, I remember that I bought *that* and I realise anything would be better.

Objectively it's the White PS4, kind of regretted not waiting for this one after it was announced, i feel like next gen really starts at the end of 2014 anyway so i didn't gain much from buying at launch, this thing is a Beauty.

But if we involve nostalgia as well i have to give it to PS2, i don't know if it's Sony's brilliant marketing at the time but it had "Future" written all over it, you really felt like you just purchased a crazy beast that can launch a nuke from Iraq :)

Surprised this wasn't posted yet, Atari 2600jr, I have one and it looks really cool in real life, very small and futuristic.

I agree with the NeoGeo, PS3 Slim, PS2 Slim, GB Micro, Atari Lynx II, DSi, MegaDrive and some others as well.

well, the only console i ever bought for looks alone is the PSP (and Vita), so there's that.

also, just saw this a few days ago

it's A LITTLE derivative, but it doesn't look bad although design for pad and console don't match (how could they..)

Don't see any pics of the PSP GO posted yet. While perhaps not my absolute favorite, it manages to pack so much awesome inside its tiny frame while still being damn fine looking. To me, it's Sony's GBA Micro.

While I don't think it's particularly great esthethically speaking, the form factor is amazing for a handheld. So thin, light and extremely portable.

Turd machine, but one that would make the most sense in my front room.

With this in second place:

The less they look like consoles, the happier I am.

I agree with this. I love the electronics stack/VHS look alot of the older machines have, and some are returning to. They still look quite attractive, to me.

Still my favorite to this day.

Yes.

Wow. That's a beauty.

I've always been quite fond of the way the Sega Mark III and Master System look.

These are IMO the most attractive game systems of their era. Easily.

If it released, this would have been a top contender in the aesthetic appeal department.

Also, these two.
