most awkward moments at minecon 2013

Kids can be vicious little pricks to those who stand out in a bad way (unfortunately, I was one of those pricks when I was young. To this day, I still regret it...).

It's great to see these children have an outlet to express their creativity and mingle with like-minded fans. God knows they probably have enough bullying as it is.

You guys need to head to OT more often, that thread had everything. People making fun of autistic kids, people making fun of the OP for being a 26yo virgin. Shit was emotional.

That autism question. Even if it was a joke it's cringe worthy.

A lot of these kids will get in the industry if they keep at it. Good for them. Parents are cool for taking them as well.

It's alright to laugh at the awkwardness. Hell, I'm awkward all the time I have plenty to laugh about already.

Just don't go any father, obviously, and keep it clean.

superkai64 is a genius. I think we should all wear our names on headbands like that. It would certainly help people like me who are terrible at remembering names.

Had family that almost went, tickets were like over $150 per person for minecon..... wtf, it costs less to go to Comic con and pretty much every other major con out there.

i just randomly scrubbed through and goddamn.

lol at the dude who asked a legitimate question that the panelists couldn't hear

I don't see the appeal of minecraft.

Just play with LEGOs mang.

Lego is damn expensive. Minecraft is like having an infinite amount of Lego.

But yeah, I love Lego too. We all love Lego.

On topic... Though I think some of these kids are just socially awkward nerds -like a lot of us, sure- I do think there are a number of them there that are clearly special needs and shouldn't be ridiculed.

They're all so young...

I was playing basketball and throwing ice cream truck smokebombs in open car windows when I was their age.

Based on his later question it looks as though he just wanted to be a dick.

Of course he was being a smart-ass dick. He probably doesn't even really know what autism is, he just heard it used as an insult on the internet once and thought it would be funny to "troll" the panel.

Yeah he probably thought the crowd would erupt in laughter after he asked the autism question. But it was just stupid. He'll look back on this in a few years and cringe at himself.

You would like to think so, but he'll actually just be posting on 4chan, if he doesn't already, and he probably does.

Wow. That was something.

And I don't think the autism question was a joke, I'm pretty sure that kid had autism as well.

The top guy is pretty much me though!

Same haircut
Love me some suits
Smoke my Lord of the Rings pipe when I'm hunting

Only difference is, that guy needs a beard.

A beard?

Is it perhaps lower than the chin?

I'm kidding.

what is this? geek squad con or something? every question is all about, "how should i fix this" or "this doesn't work". and the guy asking about the engine rofl. "what will you do in the future if people forget mods?" this video is such a goldmine. oh and that prick kid. so young yet so disrespectful.

Uh...that was a pretty harmless video. A collection of nerdy kids with probably no experience in public speaking asking Minecraft related questions to people who themselves don't exactly radiate social grace. I expected something that was painful to watch, but the entire thing had an awkward charm to it.

In my eyes, it's the shitting on them that is painful and embarrassing. These kids step out of their comfort zones to be participants in something they're passionate about, and we make fun of them whenever they stumble out of the gate. It's sad. I don't consider speech impediments funny, either. I seriously applaud that kid (superkai64 or whatever) for not letting his difficulty with Rs get in the way of him asking that question.
