Most breathtaking post-rock songs of all time

This is a great thread. I'd heard some explosions in the sky and sigur ros, but look at all this stuff to check out. Good times ahead!

You might recognise this duo from the last Olympics opening ceremony.

Fuck Buttons - "The Lisbon Maru"

Fuck Buttons - "Surf Solar"

Fuck Buttons - "Olympians"

Fuck Buttons really doesn't use much, if any guitars, and is largely an electronic outfit. The difference comes through when you listen to post rock and noise/drone/idm epics, and is a bit hard to explain via posting.

That having been said, they're pretty good.

As for me, something I always go back to is Mono's The Kidnapper Bell. I feel like it's harder to dig deeper into post rock sometimes; all the tracks are too damn long.

Caspian - Cigarette

Do May Say Think - Executioner Blues

Someone on /pol/ linked this a couple of days ago. Hadn't heard of the band earlier:

Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra - What We Loved Was Not Enough (part 2)

All our children gonna die

The fuck, i've listened to all their albums a million times, but i've never heard of this EP.
Granted in the last 2 years i've kind of neglected them...

Anyway ASMZ are one of my favorite bands, so allow me to post my favorite pieces from them:

'Piphany Rambler - from Kollaps Tradixionales.

Black Waters Blowed / Engine Broke Blues - from 13 blues for 13 moons

Microphones in the trees - from Pretty little lightning paw

1,000,000 died to make this sound - from 13 blues for 13 moons

More action! Less tears! - from Pretty little lightning paw

Could've moved mountains - from Born into trouble as the sparks fly upward

I built myself a metal bird - from Kollaps Tradixionales

Bury 3 dynamos - from Kollaps Tradixionales

Anyway, i don't know if they qualify as post rock (i always thought of them as more prog rock, but you know, whatever) GY!BE are my top band, by far.
I love all of their albums, so not much sense in posting one or two songs.

However i saw that a lot of God is an Astronaut has been posted, and still Remembrance Day is missing, which is their best piece, imo.

I'm not saying post rock doesn't exist I'm saying it is under the rock banner ._.'

That's silly.

I realize sometimes genre names get kind of silly, but the people that rage so hard against them confuse me. How else would you like to differentiate music? For people that like stuff like Godspeed or Sigur Ros would it really help to have it just labeled rock? It's not at all similar to AC/DC, so why should we label them the same? I want to know what I'm getting into when someone tells me about a band, and genres help with that. It's not a perfect system, obviously, and even within genres there will be a wide variation (like Godspeed and Sigur Ros!), but still... better than just calling nearly everything rock.

Here's their website's musical offerings:
http://www.kammerflimmer.com/jukebox/ - I suggest 'Time is the Fire in Which We Burn', but also 'In Translation' if one can find it

"From monuments to masses" was new to me. Wonderful stuff, thanks!
