Originally these guys were just to be "decoration". I decided to make them an actual enemy.

I don't really find spiders scary in any instance, but I feel video game devs need to look to the real world for ideas more often.
Like look at the assassin spider. This thing is way more eerie-looking than any video game spider.

Metro Last Light was the only game that made me question if I had arachnophobia.
Yup, UK for the win!Not saying I'd pet a tarantula or anything but spiders have always been cool to me and I've never been afraid of them even as a young kid.
I always thought spiders were man's best friend of the insect world, they prey on annoying flies and creatively and industriously spin awesome webs, they're just impressive and resourceful little creatures to me. Then again I'm in the UK with no poisonous or huge spiders around.
The lack of Metro: Last Light in here is concerning.

Pleasant dreams.
The talk of spiders has made me want to play Metro Last Light.
This week I'm moving in with my girlfriend, however, who is less fond of 10 hours of spider horror on the TV.

Earth Defense Force
I figure someone's probably made a vg spider thread already, so let's discuss which game not only has the scariest spiders, but the scariest usage of spiders
for example, a realistically modeled black widow spider would be kind of funny as a playable character in Speedrunners, so it wouldn't be all that scary (webm stolen from a nameless GAFer):

However, even a low-poly black window spider would be terrifying in a first-person oculus rift game that involves a powlingball sized black window spider that chases you through an old borded up, abandoned house that kills you by latching onto your face.
Post images with your examples please
My man. The Souls game that seems to get left behind in the "dark". This fella had been shut away in my memory until you had to wake him up again. This fucker

He's armored, breathes fire, and you fight him in a narrow corridor that forces you to run to him.

And all you can do is run.
Oddly enough, I find daddy long legs far more revolting than normal spiders. I imagine them plunging their spindly little legs into my pores, Borg-style, and injecting all kinds of nastiness. Conversely, I find spiders with fat, furry legs (tarantulas) almost adorable.![]()

Ugh, those hairs. Pikmin.![]()
these things disgusted me more than any spider I ever fought in a game
Accurate and realistic? Did... did you miss the part where the tarantula can do like piledrivers and stuff? Unless that's the joke.
I have no idea why you'd want a shot of this, but here you go...

Hmm...the last one looks likefrom Dark Souls II, if it were done up in a cartoony style. Or are those purple thingies friendly?the Duke's Dear Freya boss fight
