Most impressive last minute homework assignment completions?

Wrote my entire senior project paper first draft the night before it was due. I had already made my outline and had all the information, but the fact I wrote a paper in 8 hours that I had a couple of months time to work on AND managed to get an A was impressive. Dat ADHD hyperfocus

Damn guys lol.

I am stressing the hell out over a 20 page paper due in two weeks and I am half way done with it. Scared as fuck.

Not sure if this counts but I managed to get a 4 on the AP US history exam in high school by memorizing almost every single bullet point in the crash course book a month before the exam. The teacher did not teach at all, he would honestly tell stories in class every single day. The year before mine only three people passed the exam, so I was scared into studying for it lol.

I managed to do the same with Psychology the following year with less time.

Managing to get the college credit for those classes really saved me later on!

I remember I needed an upper division humanities class to graduate, so I took History of the Beatles. It was an online class and you could do all the assignments and tests at your own pace as long as it was before the class ended.

Well, I ended up doing literally everything the last day. Took about 8 hours, but I got it all done and got an A in the class.

I started and finished a 9 page (10 if you count the bibliography) research paper within a roughly 24 hour period. Easily the most troublesome assignment of the semester so far. Still not out of the woods yet (it was only a rough draft) but at least I got it out.

Before this, the last major feat I had was many years ago in an anthropology class with another research paper that, unlike this one, I actually started, but still had to knock out six pages within a day. Not only did I get an A, but the professor said it was one of the best papers he'd ever read.

What are some of your procrastination milestones?

I did something similar with roughly the same amount of pages a good two to three hours prior to the paper being due. Although, it was in H.S. and I only got a B+. It was still kind of nice.

25 page 'white paper' on nuclear power done within a 24 hour period at the end of spring break. I wasn't going to let it ruin my vacation so I started working on it Sunday and had to turn it in at 9am Monday. Got an A I believe.

finished the first draft of my bachelor thesis 10 am the day it was due.
pulled an all nighter.
proof-read it my self.

got a 2.5, which is a "good".

Nothing too bad, but a 10-page research paper the day before it was due. The only all nighter I have ever pulled for college and it got me a 100%. Professor was so impressed he is using it as an example for future semesters.

Some of ya'll have to be bullshitting, some impossible shit in here

I always thought I was someone who starts his assignments way too late all the time, but compared to some of you I start pretty early lol

The most stress inducing 15 pages I have ever had to write was a research paper for a Linguistics course. I started it 3 days before we had to turn it in and worked 8 hours per day. My only preparation was taking home like 6 books I needed for citations and research for the paper a few weeks before writing it. Of course I never even opened them until those 3 stressfull days, so I had to read the relevant chapters at lightspeed, think about a bullshit title and how to structure my paper all at the same time. Turned that paper in on the last day and thought I fucked up, because it was utter shit imo.

A few weeks later my professor (dude was known to be tough and give bad grades) finishes grading the papers. So I visit him in his office hours at 8am in morning after finishing a graveyard shift at my summerjob and looking like I just stayed up 48 hours. I was tired and nervous as fuck because I thought I was gonna fail this course so hard. Dude hands me the paper and tells me that it was really good, he could easily see what I was going for and that I did my research lmao.

Got an A on my paper and walked out there like a boss

Wrote my "Facharbeit" (a 12-site scientific research paper you have to write in German High School to get your Abitur) in the evening the day before I had to turn in it.

Not only did my teacher say it was one of the best papers he ever read and that not even many of his doctorate students (he teached at uni as well) wrote so coherently and cleverly, but before that he also firmly believed I had plagiarized the whole thing but of course couldn't prove it. Got an A and a huge boost to my self-esteem.

Some of my best work has come from procrastination. When the pressure to finish is there and you don't have time to second guess yourself, things just tend to flow.

(Not that I'd ever condone procrastinating of course, but it's worked for me in the past. I wouldn't rely on it as a technique to get anything serious done.)

Some of you guys stories lol

I started and completed my PhD in 24 hours. My teacher said it was the best PhD he'd ever seen

You jest but the thing about getting a PhD is you spend years becoming an expert in a narrow topic. If you can't get something written in a short period -- disregarding editing -- you probably aren't ready to defend.

Also, most dissertations are heavily made up of repackaged papers that have already been vetted and submitted.

Never did this. I am the complete opposite of a procrastinator, even now in my career. I love getting shit done as early as possible. Probably has something to do with my axniety issues. Which sucks because most people do procrastinate.

I wrote most of my papers the night before they were due with a whiskey in hand and would mostly just stream-of-conscious them and re-read/edit the next morning. I didn't do too bad all things considered.

Goddamn, I'm blown away by what some people are capable of lol. I'm personally not able to stay up all night working on something, don't have that kind of stamina.

I have anxiety & actually need to start working on stuff immediately until it's finished. This doesn't mean that it's quality work, just that I crap out the work as fast as possible so I don't have to worry about it ever again. I can't chill if I know that I have something due.

For my senior English class I had to write a paper on Sherlock Holmes, don't remember the exact subject regarding him but it had to be 10 pages minimum. Finished it the night before.

To my credit when I start writing I turn into a machine and don't really stop.

High school English class, there was a 2-page homework assignment where we had to fill in the blanks to show that we read the chapters in question, I finished it in the 4-minute gap between classes. Probably my most impressive achievement.

30 page Geography coursework, i lost the USB it was on the night before it was due.s tayed up all night redoing it. found USB in my shoe the next day.

If this had happened to me I would've drunk myself close to death. lol

Shot a short film on 16mm. Found out someone at the lab light leaked our canister. Had to reshoot 90% of the film the day it was due. Ended up turning out even better because the city was shrouded in this awesome looking fog, but holy shit it was stressful.

I think it was eighth grade. I had one of those classes that teaches you how to write checks and balance check books. They gave us this 200-page assignment book that needed to be completed by the end of the year, but for some reason they didn't ask for the assignments to be turned in on a weekly basis. So yeah, I did 200 assignments in a weekend and passed the class.

Not exactly homework but I had a university paper due at 5 o clock that I started at 9 in the morning with no research. I ended up fettin an A-. Fuckin proud of that one.

Back in December of 2009 I was invited out to a club by a beautiful girl that I was actively pursuing. I thought this was going to be the night of magic, but after I spent tons of money on food and drink for her friends and my friends, she decided to go out on the dance floor, find a six foot eight musclebound brute, grind against him for three straights songs, culminating with Lady Gaga's Poker Face.

All of this was done right in front of our table, and she made eye contact with me several times during it.

Of course, I was devastated. I got up from the table, wished everyone a good night and left. My friends got up with me for support, but I told them it was fine and not to worry. Besides, I had a 20 page paper on film noir to complete.

I went home immediately and balled my eyes out. I was incredibly hurt and humiliated. Regardless, I still managed to complete one of the finest college papers I have ever written. I still consider this one of my better moments of personal resiliency.

I completed a 24 page research paper for Psych in HS in one night. Probably 6 to 8 hours? I was even asked if I plagiarized it it was so good. Got an A, of course.

The topic was Self-esteem in the elderly. Don't ask me how I managed to write that much on that topic, cause I don't know.

How many words are in a 10 page paper?

For my degree's dissertation I did 25,000 words in two days. Got 80% (1st) for it.

I call some bullshit numbers. None of you guys can probably type even that fast while thinking and formulating a comprehensive paper.

I was forced into a regional speech contest by a community organization I volunteered with.

I made up the whole speech on stage and won 2nd place out of a pool of 30 contestants.

Till this day I still have no idea what words (bullshit) flew out of my mouth.

night before papers are like this :

"In his study about TOPIC, Jon Doe stated that ..." (500 words rewriting someone's idea).

"While this was accepted as a possible explanation through most of the last five decades, Jane Doe's..." (1000 words of paraphrasing).

And on and on. May even paste verbatim in quotes if you are lazy as shit, the right citation lets you.

Not really impressive as it was a short paper (two pages) but in highschool I had an English paper due. The class actually started and the teacher asked me if I had the paper (I was already late but she gave me a week's extension) but I haven't even started it.

I said yes but didn't hand it in, and a few minutes later asked to be excused to use the toilet. She let me go and I quickly ran, jumped the school fence and ran home (it was only about a five minutes walk away from school). I quickly did the paper at home, put it under my jumper and ran back to class.

The teacher was furious at being gone for so long (must have been about 20-25 minutes), but students occasionally did that so she let it slide. Eventually I took the paper out and handed it in. I think I got something like 80.

I once had 10 weeks to make a "Pipe Dream" game clone in Java for my Intro to Programming II course in college. I waited until the morning it was due to start working on it. I was working on it from 8am to 6pm with only an hour break for lunch when I realized that what I was doing was wrong and not going to work. I had to scrap the entire thing an start over. I managed to finish it around 11:30 that night for the midnight deadline and I got a 100%.

I was so stressed out from the pressure that I promptly switched my major to international business. I knew then and there that this wasn't a career that I wanted.

Senior year of HS, ended up as editor on a film project in History class. My groupmates didn't get the footage to me until the night before it was due, so I pulled an all-nighter cutting together clips and recording introductory narration for each segment. Previously, I'd never stayed up as long as I did that night, so I was barely holding together by the time I walked into my (luckily 1st-period) class to help present the film.

Ended up getting an A and several peer-voted class awards including Best Editing and Best Narration. In retrospect, not terribly surprising considering we went after a film that starred a student in blackface.

I did a 15-page research proposal for one of my university classes the night before it was due. I was up all night, but I fucking did it. I have no idea how. Got a B+ at that.

My best is probably a 10-page Literature coursework over a weekend. Not impressive I know, but as a 16 year old, I felt pretty good about it (especially since I was one of only two people in the class to submit the following Monday).

Edit: Also got full marks in it. Boom.

That's nuts if true.

Wrote a 20 page political science page the night before it was due. Submitted the first draft I had, only proofread the spelling mistakes.

Got an A.

Back in college I stayed up for 2 days straight putting together and making a bunch of artwork for my final portfolio presentation.

I ended up getting best of show.

Thanks Adderal!!

6th Grade Thanksgiving Day report that I forgot to do until the morning of the class. The teacher thought it would be a fun idea to have some students go up front and read their reports out loud so I urged my friend to read his; knowing that his was called "100 ways to cook a turkey for Thanksgiving".

He spent the next 30 minutes reading every single one of them while I wrote a quick essay about what Thanksgiving meant to me. His combined with a few other students delayed the teacher from collecting the papers until the end of class, which by then I had finished my shitty essay. Got a B- on it. Thanks Tim!

In college I drank a bunch of vodka and wrote a 10 page short story in an hour and a half the night before it was due.

Got 85% on it.

I took an incomplete in American Lit and had like 90 days to finish the final paper to pass. Wrote it at work the day before it was due, got an A. Was pretty proud.

Wrote around 14 pages (including pictures so probably less written words and much about the history) comparing J- and WRPGs. Started it the day before it was due. Told that I haven't finished it, I'mn not satisfied with it and I'm ready to make a new one about another topic. Was so sure I would fail. Got a 2,0.

The worst part is when you get an A and the prof says "You must have spent a lot of time writing it" etc, and you need to fight back the urge to say "Actually, I started last night at 1am and finished 10 mins ago."

When I was a freshman in college, I totally forgot about a 10 page paper due on Great Expectations. The day before it was due I read the first page and the last page and wrote the whole paper. The best part is that I scored a B+.

I had a college final research paper marked on the wrong day on my calendar so I thought I had at least a week and a half left to finish it. Walked into class that day and it was due.

I was like "SHITFUCK I'm screwed." I had all of these books I didn't read, and not a word written, no research done.

I quietly walked out of there, I knew his last class ended in four hours. Beelined straight toward the library, pulled out my laptop, plugged it into one of the outdoor outlets that could be found along the edge of the planters that we had right outside our library. Sat down on a bench that backed up against a planter with the laptop in my lap. Started writing the body, flipping to random pages on the books I had and made use of a bunch of paranthetical citations and wrote my content around them, finishing at 10 pages with the intro and conclusion last. Then quickly put together a reference page. I had about 20 mins left, still needed to print.

Went into the library, there was a long ass line. I waited anxiously, took about ten mins, then I had to use this stupid student ID system, load it with money, load the file onto the computer, get it to print, then rushed by to class with 3 mins to spare. Tried to calm myself down, faked casually walking into his room, turned it in.

Got an A.

This is the true stuff of nightmares. I've never been this close to the fire.

My best one is slaughtering two papers, anthropology and english, 10 pgs each in one night. A- and A+. Citations completely bullshitted.
