Most "metal" video games?

The Witcher series, the Metro series. A lot of disgusting, wicked shit in the former and a bazillion skulls in the latter.

I mean, one of Geralt's pseudonyms is the Butcher of Blaviken. I would post pics of some of the metal-as-hell creatures and other art but I consider that spoiling.

The winner is unanimously Brutal Legend. But if you remove Mai/Elphelt/Dizzy Guilty Gear is definitely up there.

167 replies and only one mention of Shadows of the Damned. The game is a heavy metal album incarnate.

Man Brutal Legend was fun as hell. Shame it didn't do well on the sales front :S Would have loved more games in that Metal World!

Blackthorne for the SNES

damn right.

but i think metal gear revengeance (sp?), shadows of the damned (akira yamoaka's soundtrack is amazing also), wet (a guilty pleasure of mine, great soundtrack), and dmc (i know, i know) are all pretty metal. oh, almost forgot, bayonetta baby.

edit: shit, how did i forget doom? all incarnations except maybe 3. yeah, why not, let's include 3.

I always wanted to try this game. Good thing it's available digitally on the PS store.

Road Rash on the Saturn, PS1, PC and 3DO! Awesome Rock soundtracks from the likes of Sound Garden, PAW, Hammerbox to name a few.

Awesome grunge like art work with exaggerated artwork representing the insane character cast in this game! And let's not forget live action FMV!!!

This version of Road Rash was all about Rock, Heavy Metal and all out carnage!

And...

Lightening Force on the Genesis.

Surprised it took so long to be mentioned, Thunder Force IV (Lightening Force) is the first game I thought of.

If we stretch 'videogames' to include pinball, then Metallica/Iron Maiden/AC/DC tables.

Old school fps is the answer for sure. DOOM, Quake, Wolfenstein, Shadow Warrior, etc. All scream metal to me.

Metal Slug is actually a pretty good answer, too. Those games definitely appeal to that same sort of metallic vibe that gets me listening to heavy music.

Nightmare Creatures?

Knew people were gonna be saying Brutal Legend, but Brutal Legend sucks, and metal doesn't suck, sooooo

every time someone calls MGR's soundtrack the most metal anything I die a little inside

In terms of attitude and presentation, I think Cavia games (Drakengard, Nier, etc) and the Souls games (and King's Field, etc etc) are the most metal games around. Themes of despair, nihilism, apocalypse, the folly of religion, overwhelming supernatural forces, occult imagery, explorations of death, etc etc. The soundtracks themselves aren't metal, but everything else sure as hell is.

Because she's metal! See Doro Pesch.
Excuse me, don't tell me wearing a bra isn't metal or that not wearing a bra is metal, thanks.

Can't speak for Nier but Soulsborne games, absolutely.

The game is pretty mediocre but it's metal as fuck. The art is great and the OST is comprised of a bunch of Japanese Thrash/Speed/Power/Death Metal bands.

Came to mention this, probably the most metal game ever. Game's soundtrack is so kick ass that you want to keep playing even though it's really a mediocre game.
