Most progress you've ever lost in a game?

Played through Super Mario Sunshine without saving. Right before the last boss, had to go to school, so I left the game on for the second day straight. Come back, notice someone took my memory card out. Put memory card in after I discover sister took it. Beat Bowser, try and save. WELP. Beat it again even faster.

Zelda II: The Adventure of Link

Got the game for Christmas. Dedicated all my energy in the weeks that followed to get to the final boss. The game locked up right as he appeared. I reset the game upset that I had to redo the final dungeon. The games boots and my save file is gone. A part of my childhood died that day.

Pokemon silver self erased my all lvl 90+ party... As a 11 year old it was pretty devastating

Also Pokemon red was at 149 Pokedex let a friend play it after he promised not to save... He ignored me, don't think I talked to him ever again lol

And then Pokemon ruby save got corrupted a few years later. At that point I just said "Fuck Pokemon and haven't played a Pokemon game since

PS3 died when I was at the last save point before the finale in Eternal Sonata... Also lost full completion of MK, 8 hours of Fallout 3, at least 20 hours of Demons Souls, and all the other games I played at the time. Getting the blinking yellow light of death sucks...

When I was young, I loaned my copy of Banjo Kazooie to my best friend in the neighborhood. I was balls deep into the game with over 24 hours playtime, and close to beating Gruntilda for the final time.

Get the game back... It's all fucking gone.

PSO v2 on dreamcast - 100ish level character mostly soloed. Had trouble with the final boss second form so I bought a subscription only to get save corrupted :(

Recently I lost about 8 hours of a Mass Effect 1 long play on PS3 due to hard drive corruption. Not a whole lot but enough to keep me from restarting haha

I was in the middle of making my Voltron level on LittleBigPlanet when my ps3 died. I made Voltron which took about 2 weeks to get it where it would form and about another week to make the blazing sword form. I quit making levels for good after that.

my entire ps2 memory card got corrupt, basically i stopped caring after that and just got through till the ps3. At the time i was playing guitar hero i had the highest stars of whatever it was on every song up to medium and 90% of hard. After i lost it i just stopped playing, i tried to play but just couldnt do it anymore. Then there was the info for all my other games ugh, was terrible. Happy that i have PS+ now so if something happens most of my saves are safe.

The battery in my No Mercy game was faulty and the 1st time it crapped out, i lost hundeds of hour character creations and unlocks. after that, i was never the same

Hitman crashed as the epilogue was just gonna start, so I was probably > 95% in. 20 or so hours. The next time I got a message about corrupt save. Starting over is fun though. I'm a much better assassin this time around

I had a 100% complete arkham asylum save game that I was still occasionally playing that I lost when installing arkham city.

GFWL for whatever reason couldn't install it's update correctly and in the process, not only did it erase my arkham asylum save game, I never managed to get it updated to play arkham city ಠ_ಠ

so not only did I have to find a way to bypass GFWL, I also had to find a way to manually patch the game up to get the catwoman content.

Since then, I've vowed never again to purchase a game that uses GFWL.

Zelda: Wind Waker. Managed to get the last 2 hearts (including the one from the sword teacher on Outset), and wound up going through Ganondorf's fortress and beat the game. I was so disappointed to go back to my file and see only 18 hearts.

Demon's Souls. Completed all the levels except for two. Yellow Light of Death. I was able to turn the system back on and back up most of my saves, (including my almost complete Final Fantasy XIII Platinum play through of around 70 hours.) but Demon's Souls had copy protection.
Started from scratch anyway and managed to beat it.

Bioshock. I was doing a complete play-through, finding absolutely everything. Got to the Farmer's Market and decided to show my friend how cool the opening was. The new game saved over my only save. I returned it that day and bought Fallout 3 instead.
Only just went back and beat Bioshock last month, in preparation for Infinite..

118 hours in Tales of Vesperia because my third party harddisk decided to die. I was finally approaching the end

felt bad man

My Wii corrupted my Gamecube memory card that had my Melee save with everything unlocked.

I also stopped playing Fire Emblem 7 on the second to last fight, and when I came back a year or two later my saves were gone. Ended up eventually playing through the game from scratch and actually finishing it that time.

My brother is an amazingly selfish cunt. After deleting some data before on the PS2 Memory card, I bought my own memory card to use. Had all my saves on it, 100% Vice City, San Andreas, FFX-2, Devil May Cry 3 SE, Dynasty Warriors 2-4, Samurai Warriors(All characters unlocked, mains maxed, etc). I mean years worth of progress. Completed saves for games like Digital Devil, Tales of the Abyss, and Persona III. Incomplete saves for Nocturne, Star Ocean III, and others.

Do you know why he deleted everything? So he could make more NCAA or Madden profiles(One of the two). Shit titled after sexual or racial comments.

And how did he respond when I got angry? He blamed me for having my own.......

I'm sitting here playing Demon's Souls and I just lost about 10,000 souls. Feels pretty bad. I'd equate that to about an hour or so of playing, but this isn't the most progress I've ever lost.

2 days ago I lost a 99 active humanity 500,000+ soul stain in Dark souls due to some weird glitch :|

Most progress though? Every save of every game I played in the first 2 years for my xbox360 thanks to a corrupted HDD. Lost about 700+ hours of Oblivion. Countless Halo 3 clips, massive Forza and Forza 2 save games and countless others.

I was cry :'(

It was roughly 600-700 hours on Monster Hunter Freedom Unite on the PSP.

I was mid-save and dropped my PSP on the ground. Booted it back up to find my save file was corrupted and gone.

:'(

Upgraded to a 60 gig hard drive from the 20 and was transferring over my mass effect 1 save over. Loaded the game up and save was corrupted, about 35 hours in. Deleted the game, traded it away and said no way. About a year later I started again all over and am glad I don't give up on the game.

All my ps3 progress when it formatted after a *corruption*(lol??)...thousands of hours

So fucking painful

And about 1k hours on 360 profile AND items delete *facepalm*

Not my fault/corruption? My bro deleted my fire emblem radiant dawn save at the end. I didnt replay and sold cause i wasnt gonna...

Rogue Galaxy. ~80 Hours. Right before final boss cleaning up sidequests.

I cried.

I had played through all of Tales of Symphonia and loved it. I think I must have put at least 60 hours into the game. I was liking it so much that I wanted to play the New Game + mode after I beat the final boss. So after the final boss, the ending movie was playing before the game would save and let me start NG+ mode, and it had a disk read error. Something was wrong with my disk and it never could get past that last movie, even after I tried to repair any scratches (I couldn't see any but they might have been there). So, even though I've beaten the game, I have not officially beaten the game and never will.

Pokemon Sapphire when I was a kid. Let some kid borrow it and he saved right over my save data, which was at least 50 hours in. Since then I've been very careful about save data.

I've actually never lost a huge amount of progress due to glitches or corrupted saves in recent years, thank goodness.

But the worst that ever happened was when I was a kid, I was playing Mega Man 4 and had just made it to Wily's Castle for the first time ever and was at the second boss in the castle and paused the game to go get a snack or something. When I came back, my dad had unplugged my Nintendo to vacuum. I was so upset.

I had the PC version of FF VII, bought it from Costco and was so psyched to play it. Got to the final battle with Jenova in the crater, and stupid young me thought I should start a new game, just for the heck of it. WHERE DO I SAVE? Right over my lone save file.

From then on every RPG I've ever played, I've always made 3 save files. Never again, FFVII, never again.

I had a gamecube memory card destroyed ....

It had a COMPLETE smash bros meele save and an F-Zero save with most story mode misssions on hard

Guess wich one I STILL didn't remade ? =/

Pokemon Yellow. Was up to Victory Road then one of my family members decided they wanted to play while I was sleeping.

Opened up my gameboy colour the next day and saw nothing in my party except for pidgey and pikachu. Cried for a good 30minutes (was 7 or 8 at the time).

Only stopped when my parents promised me they'll get pokemon silver for me when it came out.

59 Hours of Arkham City. I had finished the campaign and was working on the battle trophies when the save just up and disappeared. And there was no way to recover the save. Haven't gone back to it.

I lost many of my gamecube files because I had a super big but finicky 3rd party memory card.

Bye near complete Mario Sunshine run.

Bye Resident Evil Zero file.

Bye sooo much more.

30 hours on ff xiii-2 on my ps3 fat

Fucking yellow light, the sad thing is that I had a new ps3, but I don't had the will to start the game again

27 hours in Final Fantasy VII due to a corrupted save. Last Nyko product I ever purchased.

Exactly the same thing happened to me! I don't remember how many hours I lost though. Probably around the same amount. I never completed he game because of the lost save.

Around 8 hours on FF VII due to losing my memory card.
Mass Effect 2 on PS3, I don't remember how many hours but I had to start over because of a dumb decision I read about too late.
Wrex

About 300 Hours of PSO due to 3 corruptions on Gamecube.

If that happened now a days, i doubt i would go back again and again like i did then. It somewhat helped that the game was hacked pretty deep then and if you asked nicely or got lucky, someone would invite you to a room and drop a shit load of rare stuff.

Was right at the end of FF6 on my GBA, after I recruited every character and just had to go to Kefka's tower. I decided I wanted all my characters to be at level 99 and to have learned every spell, and I managed to get 8 characters this far when my game crashed and everything deleted. ;_________;

3 months of time in Animal Crossing DS because I never saved and just put my DS into sleep mode.

Don't know if I would call that "progress" though.

For me it was FF9. I was literally right at the end of the game where you climb a bunch of stairs and then go and fight the Final Boss and my save data got corrupted and sadly never went back to finish it lol.

I was really pissed about it bc it was a fantastic game, but i saw the ending when my friend beat it. But still i played that a lot and just all of a sudden it was corrupted T_T

Also another bad one was back in the day when WoW was popular and the lvl cap was 60 i played hrs and hrs and got all the high end raid gear and my acct got hacked. After that i stopped for a couple yrs and was like F this since blizz customer service we're a bunch of assholes and refused to give me back the "exact" gear i had for my class they would only give back that lvl of gear but its stats were random which is super f'd up imo, but thats why i stopped for a while lol

Lost my FFVII save twice, each time around 30 hours in as a result of using in of those Nyko memory cards that used compression to fit many more slots on a card.

You'd think I would've learned my lesson after the first time but my early teenage self was too cheap to buy a Sony brand card.

As a result I've still never beat FFVII...

Somewhere between 47-53 hours of Skyrim. Wasn't that bad though because I just started a new character and focused on the stuff I would of been doing in my old playthrough and skipped that stuff I had already done. My "complete" Skyrim playthrough is fractured between two characters.

Also Batman Arkham City, I was spending small chunks of time trying to 100% that game and I was probably about 75-80% of the way into collecting all the little trophies and side missions when my HDD died, it was the same HDD that took out my Skyrim save. That one sucked way worse, but at least it didn't happen until I was already done with the story. I still have it in the back of my brain that I will go back and collect all that shit and see the Riddler thing. I know there is no way it is worth the effort, but I really like that game and I was enjoying my small bursts of collecting things.
