Why don't you just google? It was the first fucking link I came to.

Sorry to get pissy, but just don't lie and say that "you looked". Clearly, you didn't.

Worldwide Hardware Sales (End of 2005)
PS2 - 101.37 million
Xbox - 24 million
GameCube - 20.61 million
Xbox 360 - 1.5 million
Game Boy Advance - 74.25 million
PSP - 15.03 million
Nintendo DS - 14.43 million

Yes, as usual, these are all official manufacturer shipment figures
.

I thought the gap between the Cube and the Xbox was larger? This means the GC could possibly outsell the Xbox before its all said and done?

The gap actually increased this past quarter between the Xbox & GCN. I don't see it being likely that the GCN will catch it, even if another Xbox isn't shipped again. The GCN is just about dead in all regions and with only Zelda being the driver in Q4, it should get a boost, but given their shipments over the past year, it's clearly a big downward trend.

I suppose it depends on how long they try to keep it at retail, but I think it will dissapear quickly like the N64 did. It's tough to try and be the 2nd "budget" system and the PS2 will drop within the next 90 days guaranteed.

Bah: PS2 and PSP are NOT sales but shipment.

Xbox, Gamecube, 360, Nintendo DS and GBA are real sales.

I think that Sony must stop to say that PSP is 15 millions or something, because we are still at 9.5 millions in the world if we trust Media Create, NDP, Elspa, Gfk.

In fact we have:

Sony PSP:

Japan: 3 millions;

USA: 3.6 millions (DECEMBER) + 180k (JANUAR) = 3.8 millions;

Europe: 2.35 millions 20 days ago (and now ? Probably 2.5 millions;

Total: 9.1 millions (with other regions like South Korea & co. probably 9.5 millions).

That's what the reality says. All rest is pure speculation.

UPDATE: Nintendo DS sales.

Japan: 6.1 millions;

USA: 4 millions;

Europe: 3.5 millions 20 days ago (now ? Probably 4 millions);

Total: 14.1 millions (with other regions, we have what Nintendo says: 14.4 millions).

Sony has shipped 15 million PSPs? There's gotta be like, 13 million on store shelves out there ;)

Seriously though, I'm really surprised the PSP has even SHIPPED more than the DS.

And just for completists sake, I'd like to see DC final numbers. Something round 8 or 9 million, am I right?

No, they most assuredly are not. But feel free to believe what you'd like.
Why do they match with what we have for sales numbers then? Sony's don't match but MS and Nintendo's do.

Well, DS, 260 and Gamecube numbers are sold surely, but GBA & Xbox not so sure.
Anyways, OK for the precisation.

They aren't. They are all from the financial reports of Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony and as there is only a direct connection between shipments and the financial situation of a company companies always give out shipments in their financial reports.

Seriously, people have to understand that when numbers come from Nintendo's financial statements they represent SHIPPED UNITS. The only time Nintendo ever comments on the number of units sold is when they're crediting NPD or Media Create. I don't think they even credit Chart Track in the UK since Nintendo have said that they've sold more than Chart Track shows.

Nintendo_Sales_December31.jpg

US = sold through the end of January
WW= SHIPPED through the end of December

Nintendo refers to their shipment figures as sales which is where the confusion (for some) comes from

That's because they're sales to distributors/retailers, where Nintendo actually gets their money. :)
