Most replayable non-multiplayer games

I'm looking for games that are super replayable, but aren't multiplayer. Something that you can keep coming back to over and over again without having to deal with other *gasp* people. Sort of like animal crossing, but with more... I dunno... gameplay? Explosions? Nah, there doesn't have to be explosions.

I know this game exists somewhere, but I haven't found it. Find it for me please, GAF.

Fallout and Elder Scrolls games are great single-player games.

They do involve combat, but also exploration. Lots of replayability and lots to see and do.

I replayed mass effect 2 maybe 10 times.

I would go through it on insanity using different classes and weapon setups, and that awesome lore etc. had me coming back for a good while.

Also the borderlands games are fairly soloable.

I solod 100% to max level 3 times in BL2 and solod most of raid bosses on PT4, however it does take a few gimmicks to do so.

The original Dead Rising demo. I never finished the full game, but I played the demo dozens of times with my roommates in college.

This is why I'm in love with the idea of procedurally generated content. The concept of having a game that always manages to be exciting and fresh because each playthrough is substantially different from the last is somewhat of a holy grail for me.

As for a specific example, Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup. An accessible, deep, content-rich roguelike that has a user-friendly tile version and still receives updates to this day.

Metal Gear Solid series is one of the better ones. There are multiple ways of approaching encounters, tons of secrets and easter eggs, you can try to get a good rank depending on your skills ect.

Especially 3 I would imagine.

Also Resident Evil Remake, 2, 3, 4. Earlier games for rank hunting and speedrunning are tons of fun and 4 is just a great game to replay.

RE4

I've replayed that game at least 7 times, 4-5 times on the same GC account. It's so awesome keeping your gear and slowly maxing out weapons.

The game you seek doesn't exist. Just get a roguelike and call it a day.

Mega Man games.

I can replay them until the end of time. Never get old.

I feel like I say this in every applicable thread, but yep. Mega Man. I've spent more time playing Megaman 2 than I have in any JRPG, and a full run through of the game only takes an hour on a bad day. That's a lot of playthroughs.

Look to Bioware. Also Persona. Also Devil Survivor. Also Nocturne. Hell any SMT game.

Also Escape Velocity Nova. This has got to be the most replayable single player games I've ever played.

I have replayed dmc3 9 times since the original came out, and bayo 4 times, currently on my second run of metal gear rising and first of w101, I can see myself replaying those more, especially w101, I have alot to learn.

Fallout, The Elder Scrolls, Red Dead Redemption IMO, The Witcher, The Cave, and my personal favourite Uncharted- I usually bring these out whenever I need to be happy lol.

Katamari games
Shumps
any game like Binding of Issac
Any game with a timer to beat your best times
Any game you can beat your highest score.

Procedurally generated games with good gameplay tend to be good about this. Elder Scrolls and Fallout have already been mentioned...

Dragon's Dogma has an online component (enlisting pawns, which are like personalized NPCs/companions), but no actual multiplayer.

Baldur's Gate 2. Starting with a different class and companions make the game feel new again.

Also, The Sims and Simcity.

Many RPGs (like the mentioned Baldur's Gate 2) can be replayed several times easily. The gameplay remains the same mostly (though you can affect it a lot by choosing your team differently) but the choices you make can make it very different experience.

RTS games can often be played for ages.

Action games (hack and slash / brawler) can often be played for ages easily. I spent over 150 hours on The Wonderful 101 and I think I'll return to it every now and then even though I generally don't like replaying games.

Ooh.. and the one that you can truly play hundreds of hours easily and the one you might be looking for is Monster Hunter. It's better if you play it multiplayer but it can be played alone too. It can be a pain however if you don't like hard games or don't like a curve.

I used to play certain mods in Warcraft 3 in its time for ages, and then later a bit in Starcraft 2 too, but those are multiplayer mostly of course.

I agree with Civilization and TES games (with mods though, without not so much) and want to add Audiosurf 2. I have 21 hours played in Audiosurf 2 and the game isn't even fully released yet.

Mass Effect 1

The NG+ along with the loot/leveling system was god tier in replayability. I've played through it 7+ times from start to finish.

Metal Gear Rising. With about 7 (like 8 with dlc) hours of content that game makes up for it with re-playability on the harder difficulties.

Many of the NIS games have a daunting amount of content. The Disgaea games in particular just baffle me with the time you could spend powering up items and various characters.

Z.H.P. Unlosing Ranger VS Darkdeath Evilman is another example.
