Most replayable non-multiplayer games

My answer would be Just Cause 2. I think I have 80 hours played. Completed the story twice and on my second playthrough have almost entirely cleared the map. I think it's the combination of beautiful world and cool gameplay.

Sometimes I will actually just put a podcast on and play the game with music turned off.

Other good ones are Dragons Dogma. Just getting more powerful and trying the different classes is awesome.

And Heroes of Might and Magic. Pretty much any of them. I hope I never figure out how long I played number 3 as it would probably be a vast chunk of my life.

Edit: Mr. Macintosh!! Haha. I spent a minute checking if anyone else had said JC2 and then wrote my post. Clearly that minute should have been used on my post first.

Crusader Kings 2

Between the different experiences based on which dynasty you pick and the wide arrange of mods I have spent hundreds of hours on the game and keep coming back to it.

Dark Souls. I'm on my fourth playthrough, but I still have new builds to try, still find new loot, and still get that sense of awe when I stop and look at the majesty of the world. I also still have room for improvement!

Bayonetta. Played it countless times and it still isn't old. Hard Mode mixes up the enemies in really novel ways, and there are mountains of unlockables. The gameplay is timeless.

If you're looking for games with short (<1 hour) playthroughs, definitely Binding of Isaac.

You have stolen all of the thunder that I wanted to bring to this thread.

This game exists and it is beautiful

dat WIPEOUT

Yesssss

Putting in my support for the original X-COM: UFO Defense or its modern sequel, XCOM: Enemy Unknown. Both are fantastic games in their own ways, and EU's expansion, Enemy Within, adds a serious amount of replay value. Very fun, tense games if you're a fan of turn-based strategy.

I'm looking for games that are super replayable, but aren't multiplayer. Something that you can keep coming back to over and over again without having to deal with other *gasp* people. Sort of like animal crossing, but with more... I dunno... gameplay? Explosions? Nah, there doesn't have to be explosions.

I know this game exists somewhere, but I haven't found it. Find it for me please, GAF.

Minesweeper and an imagination.

Lots of good options in this thread .. but for MOST I have to go with

Super Mario Bros
Super Mario Bros 3
Super Mario World

They are UNBEATABLE

Another vote for wipeout and spelunky. Other good ones - Hotline Miami, rayman origins, super stardust, Jet Set Radio, Sonic Generations, Lumines, Zen Pinball, Castlestorm, Flower and maybe Terraria, Ridge Racer, Sonic Racing Transformed and NFS:MW with the open world racing/cruising.

Plus SimCity, GTA, Just Cause 2, Saints Row 3/4, Civilization V, The Sims? Terraria is a good one.

Shin Megami Tensei: DEM ENDINGS.
Mega Man Zero: DEM S RANKS AND MINIGAME UNLOCKS.
Fire Emblem: DEM ROUTES AND DIFFICULTIES.
Star Fox: ALSO DEM ROUTES AND DIFFICULTIES.
Mega Man Battle Network (thanks for the reminder, previous poster): DEM VERSIONS.
Mass Effect: DEM CLASSES AND DECISIONS. (Fuck endings, only ME1 had a good story.)

Also, generally anything fun will work.

Disgaea games have an almost endless amount of gameplay. Randomized stages and a heck of a lot of post-game content.

Other suggested games might have you replay it many times; but this game will have you keep playing in the same playthrough for a far greater amount of time.

Metal Gear Solid 2 seems to be one of those titles that I continually come back to- just to mess around with sneaking about, and appreciating the guard encounters.

Bayonetta, to strive for some coherent sense of skill development.

Honestly, games that challenge you to be better- those are the most rewarding!

Ah yes, how could I forget. Here's another couple contenders:

Legend of Mana (PSX)

Dark Cloud 2 (PS2)

Both revolve around building worlds and randomish events. Both very good also.

Bayonetta is incredibly replayable for a single player game. Not only does the difficulty level alter some pretty fundamental stuff in gameplay & levels (witch time vs. no witch time, enemy encounter compositions), you can alter your playstyle with all the different weapons, weapon combinations & accessories that give you certain abilities (i.e. insta witch-time, insta berserk enemies) which can bring even more depth to an already deep game or make enemy encounters a bit more challenging.

Rayman Legends has daily & weekly challenges that I've been playing for months now. While the Murphy levels are some of the worst crap ever, the other types of challenge levels are usually fun. There is an online competetive component to it, but you are not playing WITH people, you'll just (at most) see their ghosts (can be disabled). It's basically randomized single player levels with leaderboards.

Dark Souls
Dragon Age Origins
Mass Effect (2&3 less so)
Shenmue 1&2
Metal Gear solid games
Dishonored
Elder Scrolls and Fallout games

Uh, eh, wait a minute here.
I think i need a bigger font.
Mh, there's no font swapping. Screen it is, then.

I don't even know how many times I've played through castlevania: SOTN between psx, sat, psp, xbox and vita. So good. Plus I'm always playing hot shots golf and rock band until the end of time.

Advance Wars: Dual Strike. The other Advance Wars games, were certainly replayable, but this one had features that kept you coming back time and time again.
