Most underrated games you have played

This thread is about the games that you have played but weren't really talked about much.

This first game I felt was underrated because no one in my circle of friends ever talked about it, but Def Jam: Fight for NY. It was solid and seriously fun fighting game involving rappers and had good gameplay. And the moves were so satisfying. Another game that comes to mind is Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime for the Nintendo DS. I didnt really know what to expect considering I never played the Dragon Quest series, but what I got was a fun little action adventure romp with huge ass tank battles. It was so much fun and I hope to find it again sometime in the future.

So GAF, what are the games that you played, that you consider underrated?

Great couch co-op games. The latter retains the spirit of the old console Baldur's Gate / Everquest games.

Personal favorite single player shooter campaign of the generation. It was underrated when it came out, and thanks to The New Order (which is also a fantastic game), it's fallen even further into obscurity :(
Best multiplayer of the generation after Bad Company 2 in my opinion. Fucking loved this game. Good campaign too, with some missteps. Biggest sin was the omission of terrorist hunt (and baffling inclusion of a shitty horde mode), but the core movement/shooting mechanics in this game were second to none.

I almost never see anyone not trashing Tales of Xillia 2, but it's one of my favourites in the series. I mean sure it recycles a lot, the plot is a mess, it's padded as hell and Ludger is completely broken, but it also has some great character moments and lots of stuff to do.

Also, Drakengard.

First game I thought of when I was reading the thread title. The one-two punch of Rocket Slime and Half-Minute Hero made me love video games again. I didn't start playing games until I was well into my 20s, so I had a lot of catching up to do, playing basically nothing but the cream of the crop. When I finally started playing contemporary games, I was hit quite hard with the disappointment of what a normal releases were like. I grew bitter and jaded in only a few years time, and was ready to stop paying attention to video games. Rocket Slime and Half-Minute Hero's novelty and cleverness restored my faith in the medium.

Since you have mentioned Rocket Slime, I'll pimp the other one. Half-minute Hero is a game that riffs video game adventures, by making you rush through all the tropes in an absurdly short amount of time. There's a persistent 30 second time-limit across all of the many gameplay modes, which you can reset for a cost. You are thus tasked to try to balance farming money to reset the timer and to get stuff done. It seemed like a concept that would wear thin quite fast, but they not only kept me going the entire way though, but also through a sequel.

Only 3 ppl played this
I still feel like a sucker for paying for the ending, but I must admit I had a good time with this too. The gameplay is shallow and QTE-driven, but it was honest about it. Asura's Wrath is an interesting anime-ass game where escalation never ends.

Hunted has the worst split screen I've ever played with... That being said, it was a fun co-op game.

I'd say Bound by Flame. No, the voice acting isn't the best, but its a very charming B tier title. Played it over the course of a few days and had a blast.

Glad to see someone else enjoy Rocket Slime. Also Half Minute Hero sounds like alot of fun. Maybe I need to play that myself. :D

You can't buy it anymore, that doesn't help...
I remember playing it back then, found it fun but graphics sucked because of my PC back then, I want to replay it with everything maxed out, it was a fun experience iirc

Basically one of the best lan (and online) games I've ever played.
Rocket Leagues is the only game that beats it (it's a complete different game, I know that but doing stuff with cars is fun!
