Most "videogamey" movies?

Hard Boiled (or any John Woo movie)

That's the right answer.

That movie got a full blown sequel in the form of a video game!

From Wiki:
Stranglehold is the sequel to Woo's 1992 Hong Kong action film, Hard Boiled, and stars Chow Yun-fat in a reprisal of his role as hard-boiled cop Inspector "Tequila" Yuen.[5] Stranglehold is the first project on which Woo and Chow have collaborated since Hard Boiled.[6]

It's more like one scene but Old Boy has a really great Side-scrolling fight scene that I always thought seemed very videogame-esqe

Edit: Also Falling Down with Michael Douglas was kinda videogamey with how the main character would keep encountering something and would win and come out of it with a stronger weapon. Almost RPG-like in that way.

I actually feel this way about a lot of the Marvel movies.

Spoilers for The Winter Soldier. It's been long enough that I don't think it needs to be tagged, but I'm being kind of vague just in case.

For example, in the final battle of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Cap fights the Winter Soldier, knocks him away and goes to the machinery. A few moments later, he has to fight the Winter Soldier again. He knocks him away, and goes back to the machinery. Rinse, repeat.

And the entire time I'm thinking, "This is totally a multi-stage boss fight."

And from the trailers for Ant-Man, I have a feeling that we'll be seeing that again in that film.

This movie called Avalon that came out in 2001. Here's a trailer for it. It was directed by Mamoru Oshii, who's known for directing a few Ghost in the Shell movies. It's very strange and I can't remember much about it since I saw it maybe eight years ago... I remember it kind of reminded me of .hack with guns.

Each movie comes with their own bosses and final bosses. In the first one, there are Minotaur, Hades, Hydra, Medusa (not necessarily in that order) and Luke as final boss.

The second one there are that mechanical bull, Scylla, that one cyclop, Luke, and Kronos as final boss.

Anyone remember a movie that was in theathers that you play like a game while watching it? It was about a kid on a bike. It was in the 1990s.

Nice on the Game of Death pull...

The Beach by Danny Boyle has a weird video game sequence, and the storyline of the movie/book is heavily influenced by games, where the lead character suffers a mental slide from social disassociation and thinks of himself as a hero character in a game when things get hairy, out in the jungle jumping around like a platformer or stalking gun-toting thugs like a stealth actioner.

Sucker Punch is the correct answer. It has a tutorial level with a miniboss, then 3 or 4 different levels each ending with a bossfight. It even has an ice level and a train level to round things up.

I can't believe noone mentioned Resident Evil: Retribution.
It has themed zones branching off of a hub, waves of identical cannon fodder enemies specific to each zone, bosses, and fucking visible loot drops. It's also literally a video game movie.

That Bruceploitation movie where he ascends a tower MK style and kills off every stage boss.

The highlight was the anal thumb of death attack.

Enter the Void.

The plot isn't exactly video gamey, but the cinematography is. It's almost entirely shot from the main character's perspective or over his shoulder.

The last scenes in Taken.

Throughout the whole movie Liam Neeson is effortlessly bulldozing all the mooks in his way. Near the end he gets on the bad guy's yacht where suddenly everyone is way more competent. Particularly the last guy he fights takes like, 3 or 4 minutes to take down and lands more hits on him than everyone else combined in the entire movie.

- Those Marvel movies (especially Avengers, Captain America, Iron Man 3): simplistic plot with waves of CGI enemy fodder to defeat
- Transformers movies: same thing as Marvel movies
- 300 (hack & slash action game with enemies that get stronger over time and more creature bosses)
- Elysium
- Wreck-it Ralph
- TRON: Legacy
- The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies
- Fast & Furious movies

And undoubtedly upcoming: Pixels
