Most worthless fighting game characters and why

Does Civilian 2 not have the villager special of being able to walk between the plains, therefore becoming completely unhittable by the majority of the cast though? :P

Oh shit, he can do that? Do I have to dig out my Saturn again? You've triggered a distant recollection of him moving out of reach of the other players, so I think you are right.

Wow. Well, since he doesn't actually have any offensive attacks, all he can do is hide in the distance. He can never win, and only hope for a draw,

Awesome cameo but god he was shit

Move one space to the right and you the most useless character in SC2.

Because Dark Pit was an alternate costume idea that took no extra effort to develop and added a face to the roster.

Just because he's Dark Pit doesn't mean he's not his own character. Dark Pit isn't like Dark Link. Dark Pit is an actual guy with a different personality and backstory.

So, that's why. The same reason Mario and Dr. Mario are different characters. But in this case they are literally both Mario. I think you have a harder time explaining THAT than Dark Pit.

i said that because i dont notice a significant difference in their moveset. i dont really pay attention to smash anymore though.

Kirby is special level awful in Melee. Like, what the hell happened? He feels broken.

Similarily. even though I haven't put much time into Brawl or 4, Samus feels terrible. Like, the minute I picked her up, and started moving with her, I felt off.

DoA5 did my ninja Leon wrong, bruhs. So bad.

the fuck? Talim was like high tier in SC2. Maybe on the mid end but definitely not ass. In SC3 she was booty

Man, I remember loving to play as Talim in SC2. Then when I got SC3 to play and tried out her stuff, I could instantly tell she was off. Stuff like her flip was janky as hell in SC3, like if you press attack during it she literally pauses in the air to do the attack instead of keeping her momentum like in SC2 or how her moves just seems stiff compared to the previous game. I didn't play SC4 that much but when I did play it, it felt that they based her off her SC3 version sadly.

Shout-outs to Link and Donkey Kong for being mediocre-to-bad in every single Smash game, though I find Samus' situation the most pathetic.

Haha, yeah, not being able to do damage is kind of 'win' for uselessness but it can be somewhat funny at least if your opponent can't hit you either :D

Pro-tip: never play an all villager battle. Trying to hit each other in general is painful without the lanes/planes helping :P

sc4 has issues all around despite being miles ahead of sc3.

Hilde and amy destroyed sc4 lol.

Link has finally ascended to mid tier in the last game. Dankey Kang is forever forlorn.

Samus is barely functioning as a character. Her current state is disgraceful.

Thank you Project M, for remembering to make Samus good to play.

Lizardman from soul calibur 2. It takes ten hours of repetitive nonstop story mode matches to unlock a bootleg sophitia moveset with a cool reskin. Wow

I quite liked SC3 but the PS2 version was broken as all heck. I hear from those who've been lucky enough to try the final arcade version with all the fixes and balance changes that they often consider it the best entry in the SC series :o

Shout outs to the garbage tiers in Marvel 3
Hsien Ko
Ghost Rider
She Hulk
Iron Fist
Phoenix Wright
Arthur
Nemesis
Shuma Gorath

since when was shuma even considered low tier?

Arthur is low tier, not garbage.

Everybody else you name is about right

Why did Capcom literally nerfed the only thing good about her?

Y u nerf the slide Capcpom!?
they nerfed several things actually. Chain lights so she doesn't have a solid hit confirm. That added lamp post move so she can't mash grab and something else. She would be way better if her super caused forced ground/wall bounce so she can get her normal bnb.

Huh, maybe it's because I didn't give a rat's ass about balancing back then (I was 12), but SC3 PS2 was one of my favorite fighting games of all time.

Most of those characters have made top 8 at one time or another.

And honestly, X-Factor makes every character in that game a legitimate threat.

You know what, I wouldn't be surprised if I'm completely wrong about this, considering how many other broken characters are in Battle Assault 2.

A lot of people liked it just because it was packed with content. Whether you were playing it for versus or single player there was just a ton of toys to play with :3

To be honest though, the 'brokeness' of it goes well beyond simple balance issues. We found an unholy amount of bugs. My favourites so far being the time Astaroth decided to go for a jog around the arena no matter what my friend did with the pad (he let go of it completely and Astaroth was still running about all by himself XD ) or the time my Knightmare decided to turn around and dive off the arena with no input from me or my opponent o.O
The most common issue was the countless times we got someone stuck hanging off the ring's edge so they didn't ring out but couldn't get up or move either so we had to kick them (sometimes repeatedly) off to finish the match :P

Dan.

He's specifically in the game to be a joke character, and he's in multiple games taking up a slot.

The definition of a wasted character slot.

ah, that brief shining moment when phoenix wright was viable because if you got him into turnabout mode one of his assists became totally invincible

Nah, Dan got some stuff that makes him hype, and in Super Street Fighter 4, he's a legitimate pick, albeit low tier.

Bone Claw Wolverine is a worse version of an already low tier character in Marvel 2. He's the definition of a wasted character.

Pichu is worthless, not just because it sucks and damages itself, but is outclassed in literally every way by Pikachu, who has the exact same goddamn moveset

What? Link had a ridiculous throw. Fucker was banned numerous times in tournaments because of that (also because he was a GC exclusive character :P)

http://soulcalibur.wikia.com/wiki/Link

Interestingly, thus far Link has ranked poorly on tier lists in almost every fighting game he has taken a part of. In the original Super Smash Bros., he was second-to-bottom. In Melee, he was lower-mid. In Brawl, he was fourth-to-bottom. In Soulcalibur II, he was absolute bottom. More recently however, he is now upper mid-tier in Super Smash Bros. 4.

Link is absolutely bottom tier in SC2, sorry to say

Pichu is worthless, not just because it sucks and damages itself, but is outclassed in literally every way by Pikachu, who has the exact same goddamn moveset
From SSBWiki:
  • Pichu can wall jump, aiding its recovery.
  • Pichu's down smash can semi spike and has higher knockback.
  • Pichu's up aerial can more easily combo into itself on fast-fallers.
  • Down aerial is stronger and deals more damage.
  • Skull Bash can be charged for a longer period of time, is more powerful when fully charged, and travels a longer distance than Pikachu's.
  • Pichu's Agility can go in more directions than Pikachu's Quick Attack.
  • Grab range is slightly longer than Pikachu's, although it is still one of the shortest in the game.
He has some non-negligible advantages.
