Played it first with the Monster Truck and I sucked at it :lol Had no trouble winning with the racing truck and the bike though.

You only pick the monster truck if you're angry and just want to destroy a lot of stuff. One of my favorite moments so far is hitting one of the first big jumps in the monster truck and landing on top of someone on a quad bike. :)

As much as I love racers, how can anyone in their right minds say that the Motorstorm 2 demo looks great?

It looks like friggin' Excite Truck in HD, and Excite Truck had at least some colors in it.

In THIS game, even the trees are shades of friggin' gray-green-brown.

There's no reflections on the cars, the textures are as low res as you can get on the PS3, there's nearly no effects there at all, it's grey, grey, grey, low res and ugly.

And NO, this is NOT trolling. Pure looks way better.

Gameplay is great though. Love the bike.

wow, you couldn't be more wrong... :lol

The full game will have a lot of color variety. It's on an island so you will have lava, oceans, rivers, jungle, beach, mountains, etc.

I guess people are trying to downplay the game (like every game) by showing some graphical flaws. It ain't perfect but it sure feels right.

played the demo a few times last night. the only vehicle i could do consistently well with was the bike.

since everybody is comparing this to pure, i guess i'll give my two cents. pure's graphics are better but gameplay wise i think i prefer motorstorm. in pure, i was more focused on doing trick than actually trying to win the race.

also when i won in motorstorm it felt a lot more satisfying.

Hooray!!

This is perhaps the best demo I have played in a while. Its not perfect, but then again neither was the first demo. BUt it does remind me of the best parts of MS, and thats all that counts.

Yes, Flatout UC. And yes, it looks better than the low res grey in grey mess that the motorstorm 2 demo is. Did YOU actually play that demo?
Which one? Flatout UC demo? No, I actually have the game (PC version), and the ONLY thing it has over Motorstorm 2 (right now, it's 80% complete after all) is the textures.

And that's not the only thing you were wrong about btw...

It has reflections, it's not just the "sun", it's not real reflections sure, it's just the skybox with some mountains and shit, but it still has them...

"Excite Truck in HD" ? :lol

"Trees are brown and green"? OMFG That's so wrong!!1!! :lol

No effects? :lol So the dust, the blur, the small packs of fog, etc I saw must have been on my version only...

"grey grey grey"? :lol

"ugly"? :lol

Yeah, you couldn't be more wrong sorry, and yes you are trolling.

This is hilarious. so you see reflections, colors and "small packs of fog" in this game? Nice one. I'm outta here, because, sorry, I tend to only see things in games that are really there.

Lucky me, there's games out there where the developers actually worked at making them look good :) I'll rather stick with their games.

Get out. I understand some points but trolling is trolling.

And let's not forget, visuals are what make a game.

If you want to "not troll" then can the hyperbole.

Should I just take a couple of pictures and leave you completely owned?

Does anyone know how I should taking pictures of moving stuff on the TV? My TV doesn't have a pause/still function :(

I have a Sony DSC-W130 camera but I don't know how to use it :p

I wanna take some pics of the replay but they'll probably end up all blurry.

Gameplay is awesome but I was a little let down by the visuals as well. Might have been the time of day, but the track just seemed a little bland looking with some relatively low poly mountains and blurry textures.

It just didn't seem to pop like the first game.. seemed washed out looking somehow.

MS2 really doesn't look all that great.
It has it's strengths and weaknesses. And yes, it looks much better in motion. You should know that by now.

True, the first time I played MS I was more blown away. But the main thing is this is still fun to play and the features will be there this time around.

I was wrong, it is real reflections.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks the game (demo?) looks like ass. Motorstorm 1 >>> Motorstorm 2.
Why the "?". It is a demo, and seing as how MS1 improved over the last few months there's no doubt MS2 will too.

It's amusing how much this thread reminds me of the old motorstorm 1 demo thread, including the camera shots of bad textures.

Yep ,comparing a complete game to a demo.
Hence the "(demo?)". I don't know if the final build will look like this but if it does, eh do not want. I can't even begin to fathom why they figured putting this demo out was a good idea. Especially if the graphics are not representative of the final product.

The gameplay is still Motorstorm and thus still hella fun but the textures are beyond terrible.

I just received an email with a code for european demo, and say:

"• Compite online con hasta 12 jugadores"

12 players online?

http://www.us.playstation.com/PS3/Games/MotorStorm_Pacific_Rift

Players: 1-4
Max. players online: 2-12

Why does everyone get this kind of stuff and I don't? :(

HOME, Resistance 2, etc... Booooooooooo!

You've figured it out. GAF complains for the sake of doing it. It's in the genes.

Tell me one thing in this game that looks on par with Pure or hell, Flatout UC. One thing.
This game has a lot better lighting and motion blur than Pure, and also much more impressive use of physics, causing the general havoc that can happen around you. This all amounts to a game looking a lot more photorealistic (or good CG-like) than Pure ever gets. Pure looks pretty great, but it also at all times looks like a typical game.

These one's show the clouds and "packs" of fog that don't exist:

I'll try to grab a couple that show the reflections but it'll be hard.

I stand pwnd and corrected.

In my defense I have to say, that you don't really see thouse clouds when you use the external camera.

You can see that here as I drive up to that part of the track: http://motor.ak-41.de (may take another ten to twenty minutes until it's reachable). Use http://ak-41.de/motor/ till then.

I simply did not see that. After seeing your pictures, I used internal camera, and yes, you are right, there's a lot more to see that way.

Again, I stand corrected and must apologize.

As for your later pictures: Those are not pictures from the demotrack, but rather from a movie playing before the demo. We'll have to wait until the final game is out, to see if the graphics are really that hot in those other tracks.

But if they are, I have to ask why they put this track in the demo then.

I've got to admit, I'm throwing in with the other people here. The video shown at the beginning of the demo looks nice, but the game itself isn't really impressive at all. Having just played Motorstorm 1 the night before, I can honestly say that it looks better than the demo. The demo of MS1 featured a much more impressive looking track than what you get in the MS2 demo.

I'm very disappointed with what I saw.

That said, it's still a blast to play and, if we are drawing comparisons, I do prefer the gameplay to that of Pure (though they are really different). I just don't know what happened with the textures. Motorstorm 1 wasn't all sunshine and rainbows, but there were some really awesome textures and the way in which they used the textures created a unique, organic looking world.

I also feel that the emergent chaos that was so prevalent in the original wasn't on the same level here. The way vehicles clashed in the first game and parts were flying everywhere as you dodged through them was incredibly satisfying and, while I'm sure that's still in this game, the demo tracks just couldn't pull off those same situations.

By the way, is there any way to enable motion controls in the demo? Believe it or not, I loved playing MS1 with the SIXAXIS in first person view. It felt great.

Well you know that is true :lol :D but I also think that people want to be genuinely impressed.
This Motorstom demo features a more balanced gameplay, smarter AI, better phisics than the original but the graphics in the demo are not great, yeah we know that the final game should be a different story but of course it would be better if there wasn't any doubt on the game.

Yeah, Motorstorm PR doesn't look that great when standing still, but when actually driving and all the effects have clicked, I think it looks fine. I remember Motorstorm 1 impressing me more visually.

I actually felt that the demo track had some more frantic moments that weren't found so much in Motorstorm 1.

They are there with the external camera as well :p My first picture shows it. There's a couple more right before the big jump too.
