MotorStorm Pacific Rift - New videos

Yes, confirmed.

Custom Soundtrack.
4 Player Splitscreen.
Trophies.

It's flawless.
Awesome! that is all I wanted/asked for Motorstorm2! The game was already fun, count me in.

Looking incredible. I did spot some tearing in there but if they get that ironed out before release (and I have faith that they will!) this could very well be the perfect arcade racer.

I'll just repost what I had said in the Qore #4 thread:

There are two incoming games that awe me every time I see them in motion. One is Killzone 2 and the other is Motorstorm 2. The lighting in MS2 is incredible, and there are parts in the trailers I saw where it reminds me of the pre-rendered trailer, mainly due to motion blur hiding certain flaws. When both the E3 and GC trailers came out, I kept pausing just to look closer. Amazing stuff.

I must also mention Resistance 2's lighting on display in recent demos, just beautiful, Sony's 1st parties are starting to really show their skill. I also need to see whatever Naughty Dog is doing, as I suspect it'll blow my mind.

And now I'm gonna watch the new videos. :D

Not to derail, but do you have a link to those vids you're talking about for R2?

It's coming out at a very bad time, some month as LBP and SOCOM plus the shit loud of third party stuff, I can see this getting overlooked (In the US at least)

Yeah. A stacked month for sure.

Oh well, it's probably better than it releasing in December. They need to release it before the big guns come out.

Sony doesn't seem to be giving much attention to MS2.

The thing it's got going for it is it's a different genre from most of the heavy hitters. It'll be pretty tempting on the best buy shelf when you go to pick up R2 and notice MS2 sitting beside it.

I'd say SCEA isn't giving much attention, if anything. Although they are giving LBP attention, SCEA tends to not push games that come from Europe or Japan much, while the other regions seem to do the same with SCEA games (It was especially true with PS2).

Anyway, I'm still really excited about this and want it.

Disagree. Oct 7th (if actual date) is an excellent time as it will be on all shelves well before the other big hitters arrive. People will have their September pay ready for the late Oct and then they will discover MS2 on the shelves giving them sexy looks.
Sony definitely needs to talk about it more though (especially as the original is their best selling 1st party game yet).

Great looking videos but it sucks that whoever was playing them didn't want to go to bonnet view. Motorstor is simply a whole different game when played from that view.

The song that plays in the Gameplay Video 2 is horrifying. It doesn't fit the game at all.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?

That's "Jesus Built my Hotrod" by Ministry, and is one of the greatest racing songs ever made by a man or a beast! I literally jumped in my chair when I realized they included that song in the game.

Wait... Resistance?

I agree that the cockpit view was the most entertaining way to play the game and the crashes were sweet, but it was still no way near the speeds I wanted.
With certain vehicles the game was definitely too fast from the cockpit view, or hell any view. You needed to memorize tracks completely to be able to play them at the speed some vehicles provided. That's the thing with Motorstorm, some vehicles just sucked IMO. Generally, for me at least, the heavier the vehicle was, the more fun the game was.

PARADOX

Seriously, the game looks amazing. And I can't think of a time when I've been in a store and went "wow, I was on the fence about buying this game, but now that I've seen the boxart I'm definitely going to buy/pass!"

i loved motorstorm 1, but i'm not sold on the sequel yet -- i don't know if the new setting has the personality and coherence of monument valley, and the tracks we've seen do look a bit open and straightforward. i'll miss the track deformation as well. if only sony weren't holding the demo for ransom

This is actually what I'm most excited about. Theres actually some variety this time around rather just racing in the desert, which got old very fast.

I JUST started playing the first again today and I completely forgot how gorgeous the game is. And it plays like a dream. Theres moments when you've got 8-10 vehicles on your screen, half crashing, half trying to plow through, and it keeps running smoothly and its OMG so awesome.

I really cannot wait for this sequel.

December was the target date, but I'm pretty sure they've moved it up to Oct.
I always kept in my mind that MotorStorm Pacific Rift was coming out on Winter (Dec). I just recently noticed that the game was coming out in October and that hit me by surprised. I don't know if this a good thing because October is packed with many games. It would have been great if Sony released this game on December, but it looks like the Devs were able to make quick progress.

Anyways, the videos are looking great and can't wait to get my hands on it. I loved the first MotorStorm, even with it's faults, and Pacific Rift looks like a great improvement to the franchise.

big guns? what big guns gets release in Dec on the PS3?

Dude motorstorm 2 looks friggin beautiful. Man, I, I love it all. The way ash/dirt adds to the feeling of the heat in the fire level. It's like the camera is baking or something. Suffocatingly exquisite.

Loved the track design of the first game, this is looking to be better.

He meant that the big guns will come out AFTER MS2 rather than BEFORE, and not in December, as pretty much all the heavy hitters come in late October and November.

While this game is going to be the best shit ever online, I'm worried that it's still gonna have the same shit AI from part 1 for the single player since they obviously thought it was a good idea the first time around and these guys weren't new to racing games.

I don't want them to put a looser rubberband in there either, they should take out that bitchass rubberband completely! GRID, the last racing game I played, has some of the most fantastic races all with no rubberband AI. Not only that but it wasn't some follow the racing line no matter what Gran Turismo bullshit AI either; there where hundreds (well, maybe only over a hundred) different AI racers in the game that had their own driving styles and quirks and they would occasionaly make mistakes to give the illusion of racing against a real driver.

"Mommy, what's that truck doing to that car? :("

I think both covers are ugly. Game is looking great though, if they did nothing but clean up some pop in and get rid of the occasional tearing you see in the videos I'd be happy with the visuals. All the footage makes it look even more fun than the first - combine that with the obvious menu/loading fixes everyone demanded from the first game and i'm excited.

Just tried the Pure demo on psn. Motorstorm is so much better. Now I know Samba de Amigo feels broken, Motorstorm2 is my most anticipated game this year.

That Wildfire course is almost one big straightaway. I miss the tight, skilled courses of off-road games like RSCII and Rally Cross.
