Motorstorm RC (Evolution Studios) announced for Vita/PS3, buy one get both

"Pay Once, Get Both"

One of the better new IP's that came out this gen that I will gladly support when I get a Vita or whenever it shows up on the PS3. :p

Nice! I like Motorstorm and this RC version looks pretty darn cool. Scaling everything down like this will also give Evolution a chance to showcase some different angles and track designs while still using that classic Motorstorm "look". I'm all for it!

It’s definitely a full experience, but it’s a completely new flavor of MotorStorm. We can’t wait to show you more of the game. :-)

Thanks for your support as always remanutd5.

The maps are 100% new; They’re set in the old-time locations. I like to think of it like this: “for every Festival there was an RC Festival”.

Lunatics unite, for old-times sake. :-D

Yes, there are several camera view-points but all of them are isometric and top-down.

We’re aiming to have the game ready on or closely after vita launch, but an official release date won’t be scheduled in until we’re a little closer.

Keep your attention on the blog, or follow MotorStorm RC on facebook.com/MotorStorm-RC and twitter.com/MotorStormRC to keep up to speed with this.

This was the best RC game on the original Playstation

So much fun.

I loved this. I didn't have the full game, but I played the demo all the time. The Motorstorm RC trailer totally reminded me of this.

Buy once, get both versions

Fuck yes. More games need this kind of 'universal' support

Yes!

Hands on impressions: http://www.thesixthaxis.com/2011/11/22/motorstorm-rc-hands-on-impressions/

Races load quickly, with the waiting time weighing in at two seconds on the PS3 and six seconds on the PS Vita – they’re still optimising the code and want to hit the two second loading time on both platforms.

The download itself is roughly 600MB, and again, optimisations are still being made. As you may have seen from the press release, if youÂ’ve bought the game, you get it twice: once for PS3 and once for PS Vita.

Sounds very promising. It's cool that Evolution are doing this title themselves.

Yeah. Let's hope more projects like Motorstorm RC are being made because it would be the smart thing to do.

Smaller teams from typical Sony console developers (Guerrilla, Naughty Dog, Santa Monica, Sucker Punch, Polyphony) working on dual Vita/PSN games while the big team works on PS3/4/Vita can only be good news for Sony and the gamers.

Indeed. Especially when they bundle in a PSN code too - really smart and very cool.

Isn't this more or less directly competing with Modnation Racers? Yeah, I know, it's RC Racers vs Karts, but kind of a strange move to launch the Vita with two racers like that.

I also feel sorry for Icon Games, who was working on an arcade racer for a Vita launch title (though I also found that a bit questionable, business wise, given MNR)

Racing overload at launch

Ridge Racer, Modnation Racers, Asphalt, Wipeout, Motorstorm, F1 2011

Modnation is launching with the Vita, Motorstorm is not. This has already been confirmed by the devs.

Just for the "Pay once Get both" initiative this game needs to succeed. It will be a day one buy for the Vita just because of this. As an extra it also looks like good fun!

this looks great. isometric top down rc racer set in the motorstorm world. day one perch for me.

edit: nevermind, i see it is expected on or around launch. really hope it makes launch. i've been trying to decide between ridge racer and wipeout for my 2nd launch title (getting uncharted). if this makes launch it will be neither. i'm a much bigger motorstorm fan then ridge racer or wipeout fan.

Looks like it could be fun, but I don't get how it is a Motorstorm title. Surely it won't play like Motorstorm and the vehicles will handle completely differently. Guess it doesn't matter to us what they call it but it is clearly a marketing strategy

It's being done by the MotorStorm developers, and takes place in many of the same locations found in previous MotorStorm games. I'd say that makes it more than a mere "marketing strategy".

It's not the type of racing game that you would envision when someone mentions the name "MotorStorm", but that's one of the most interesting things about it. I'm glad they decided to mix it up and make a product that takes the series in a very different direction, yet still retains the spirit of MotorStorm.

Considering the complete change in scale, 'same locations' is a bit of a stretch though, really... I expect it to be a great game, but I think presenting it as a new IP would have been a bold statement, and proof of their confidence in the project.

Gah, wish I could tell how much of that trailer is from the PS3 and how much from Vita. I kind of think I can tell but it'd be nice to know.

Those are good points.

Presenting it as a new IP certainly would be bold and assured, but at the same time there appears to be enough MotorStorm DNA in the game to warrant it wearing the brand. It's a lot better than situations that I've seen where an original game is developed independently, and then late in development the publisher makes a snap decision to tack on another famous brand or character(s) to be used as a marketing crutch.

I don't really mind top down perspective as long as I view the track from behind my car although that's probably not what a radio control experience supposed to be.

Ivan Iroman Stewart... is that you?

Honestly, I still want a 1st/3rd person Motorstorm on Vita. But this is a pretty cool spin-off, and I definitely like the potential for cross-platform play.

As usual... WOW at Vita's power. Jesus, if this system takes off, future games are going to be unbelievable.

This is the place where Sony is going to fleece us all, their proprietary memory cards.

how many games do you really need to have with you at all time? buy a 4GB card and you can fit plenty of psn game and buy retail for the retail game like Uncharted.

personally, I don't like buying retail games anymore so I'll get 32 GB card and that's enough for at least 7 retail game in full 4gb capacity (Uncharted is the only one I know so far) and I'm not gonna have 7 games to play at once. at most, I'll play maybe 3-4 different game at once, maybe a fighting game, or sports game and one story centric game

will buy to support motorstoem franchise and this buy once play twice thing. Hopefully a real motorstorm will be developed for vita , i'llbe there day one

Yep. Even if the game is a little rusty, I will support devs who will support buy one get two, especially if both games are the same cause it won't warrant buying an extra copy of the same shit.

It's a bit surprising to me that they keep making Motorstorm games (even though this isn't a traditional entry). Haven't the two last PS3 games sold rather poorly? I'm glad they're not giving up on the series though, the games are really great!
