Mountain Dew Xbox One Promotion - www.every2minutes.com

Never going to have enough to fight in an auction. Just going to dump my points into sweepstakes. When do you guts think the best time to do that will be?

Not low enough yet, unfortunately. 10k is a lot of Dewritos...
I'm at 23k and I'm gonna just have to power through to win or it was all for nothing. Even if I have spent 350 to 400 to get 35k it's well worth it for an xbox and a game. Oh and I have a ton of Mountain Dew and doritos to donate.

My chart of the first 3 days, spikes at 150, and 300 are the days changing.

I'm just a touch over 34,000 points, will try to snag one tonight. I have a feeling it will get lower still, but I'm not going to be too fancy here.

People are pretty routinely winning for 34K now....which is a marked but still tiny step-down from last night's maximum prices. Though perhaps the exclusive Target auctions have pushed prices down a little artificially.

Someone on SlickDeals posted a pretty solid way to get yourself 10,000 points:

20 gamer packs 6000 pts $2.48 each total $49.60
20 2liter 2000 pts .88 each total $17.60
20 target cards 1000 pts 50 points each with dual entry
20 dew/dorito bonus 1000 pts

total 10000 $68.60

Purchase Gamer Packs at Wal-Mart. Get Target cards from in-store display at Target (redeem codes with 2 Dew/Doritos codes for bonus points). Of course you'd probably be an asshole for just taking 20 flyers from the Target display.

You can get to 30,000 points only spending $200.

I don't know I didn't see any Gamer Packs... and I don't know anything about Target auctions, but me and me new friend are out:

Congratulations!

I'm not sure whether I would want a Ryse pack or a Dead Rising 3 pack. DR3 is probably the better game, but I'm more curious about Ryse. Seems better to take Ryse for free since it might be a dud.

That King Dewrito....makes me want to vomit.

You really can't compare the different games included in the auctions. I tried that at first, but it quickly became apparent that there was no correlation, and people just want to win the console. Not to mention, if they get a game they don't want, they can just get store credit and get a game they want (which is what I plan on doing if I win Forza, which I don't want.). I'm now at 31,000 points, with hopefully a couple thousand to get in the bank before tonight's auctions.

Here's a comparison with yesterday. So far, everything's still on pace with what it has been. Generally a thousand or lower than the day before throughout the whole night's auction. Not sure where this will end though. I doubt it will continue to go down every single day. Eventually it will probably level out somewhere, maybe in the low-mid 20's in a few weeks.

Love it. Can someone explain how the Target cards and auctions work? Do you just need to have some Target points to qualify for the Target auctions?

Did you receive any kind of verification email saying you won?

Target auctions can only accessed if you find code printouts at special displays in Target stores. You can get the code from a flyer, and must redeem it simultaneously with two other valid Dew/Doritos codes. Then you get special access to exclusive Friday night auctions (plus 50 bonus points).

Most Targets seem to be dragging their asses on putting the displays up though. Check the endcaps of every aisle in the grocery section, as that's where most people seem to find them.

Gamer Packs are the most highly sought-after variant of Dew/Doritos crap. Not only are they worth 300 points each (at a retail cost of around ~$2.50), but you can actually get the code off of them without opening the package. That doesn't mean you should be an asshole and start pulling codes off stuff you aren't buying (doing so could get your account nuked if someone who later buys the pack decides to report the issue). It does mean you can save the Doritos indefinitely for later consumption, or donate them to a local food bank. Combine one of these with a $1 2L bottle of Mountain Dew and you get 450 points for around $3.75.

Gamer Packs are sold only at Wal-Mart, and can be anywhere from a display in front of the registers, to the chips aisle in the grocery section, to an aisle endcap. I've only been to one Wal-Mart and the single Gamer Pack I found was just randomly thrown on top of a punch of pork rinds on the chips aisle. Couldn't find them anywhere else in the store.

No email confirmation that I saw. It did ask me to input my password and put in a shipping address after I won though.

Well it doesn't actually hurt anything to separate them. Forza even had a legitimate boost in prices on Thursday when people inexplicably fought over them over the course of an hour. Besides, it was a fun little spreadsheet exercise to get them properly separated in a quick automated fashion. Some people before the thread thought that they would differ by games, so I figured why not show it one way or the other? Besides... if Ryse gets a 4 on Metacritic and Dead Rising gets a 9, maybe you start seeing a sustained separation between the two?
Not to mention, if they get a game they don't want, they can just get store credit and get a game they want (which is what I plan on doing if I win Forza, which I don't want.). I'm now at 31,000 points, with hopefully a couple thousand to get in the bank before tonight's auctions.
Let me get this straight, you're returning a game you won from a contest under the pretense that your purchased it from a store in order to exchange it for another game? Sounds fraudulent to me. You may as well just target the game you want in the first place.

Looking at the pattern I don't think it's going much south of 30,000 anytime soon. Would be surprised if it hit 25k, aside from maybe the special case of Black Friday. But nothing's set in stone. We just got into the first weekend. I'll feel more confident in a prediction after Monday or so.

Here is a crash course efficiency guide. Anyone is welcome to correct my math or my prices, but remember that prices in your area may vary. The following are the best methods I have determined, based on my reading.

A.) CVS 88-cent 2L Mountain Dew (+7% sales tax) = $.95/100points = 95cents/100 points

B.) GamerPack (no sales tax on this in FL) = $2.48/300points = 82.6 cents/100points

C.) CVS 88-cent 2L Mountain Dew + $2/2 Doritos bags at 7-Eleven = $1.96/250 points = 78 cents/100 points

D.) GamerPack + CVS 88-cent 2L Mountain Dew = $3.43/450 points = 76.2 cents/100 points

E.) GamerPack + CVS Mountain Dew + Target Code = $3.43/500 points = 68 cents/100 points

F.) CVS 88-cent 2L Mountain Dew + $2/2 Doritos bags at 7-Eleven + Target Code = $1.96/300 points = 65 cents/100 points

I was a little shocked to realize that the most efficient way of acquiring points didn't even involve the GamerPacks. Though it does require you to be an asshole and steal pretty much entire stacks of Target Codes. 30,000 points would cost about $195 in this scenario.

If you want to be a nice guy the most preferable choice is C, assuming you are close to a few 7-Elevens and a few CVS stores. It's almost as efficient as D, and you can get 30,000 points for around $234. I live in a more urban area so I like this option since it's a long drive for me to get to any Target or Wal-Mart. If there's a Wal-Mart near you that has a ton of GamerPacks though, option D will net you 30,000 points for around $228.

The downside to all of these is that they're logistically difficult -- you're going to have to buy upwards of 50 or 60 2L bottles of Dew, and it's just going to be a hassle to transport all that crap around.

Correct. I've done it in the past too. I won my Xbox360 through the Hex168 viral marketing campaign MS did back in 2005. I won a trip to LA for the launch event, an Xbox 360, and 2 games (Perfect Dark Zero and Kameo). I took both games to Best Buy and exchanged them for CoD2 and Madden.

Here is an issue I am seeing. Today alone I have had 3 codes that say they have already been used. My friend has had 2. At different stores. Cheating????

I entered a code the other day, ready to auction some points... and then I realized that you can't "win" without spending $250 or so. Well played, Doritos/Mountain dew.

So... I just talked to a guy at the hotline. My store had 20 some bottles... Put in Friday ... That were pulled from sealed cases. So it must be coming from packaging. The distribution guy is getting called Monday so he is aware and can trace the email addy.

I've only got about 600 points at the moment, as I thought this was more of a drawing like the PS4 Taco Bell contest. I'm going to go out and get a shit ton of Mountain Dew and Doritos, but if anyone is looking to donate codes, I'd be willing to change my avatar to whatever a donator pleases...ANYTHING...it can even say ChaosXVI is ________'s bitch. If anyone wants the giant limited edition crate of Halo Reach with all items in perfect shape, I can trade that as well...I also have Metroid Prime Trilogy but wouldn't trade it unless for a pretty much guaranteed win...

So you can use the Target codes every time you put in two other codes? That would explain why the first time I saw the endcap, the codes were all gone...

Where are you located? I've had a couple odd Dew bottles that said they were already used also. I'm in Buffalo.

North Carolina. Nothing stops people in packaging from tampering with codes. Sad really, and freaky to buy a drink that somebody broke the seal on.

Yeah, and afterwards I realized that when I opened the bottle, it didn't give the normal "hiss" from the carbonation. It wasn't flat at all, but yeah, it was definitely opened. I should be more careful next time I'm buying them to look at the seal.

I called and gave the code to the hot line. They can trace the email and catch the cheater if they win something.

I went to both Wal-Mart and Target and couldn't find any 'gamer packs' or any shelf space for them :( Didn't see any display at Target either. My life, it sucks. I wish the gamer packs were online so I could check in store stock

interesting contest but i feel for the money spent it isnt much of a contest but who wants to buy the most junk food.

Even if you don't like junk food, then throw it out. Right now auctions are steady at 34-35k points. If all you bought was Mountain Dew for $1/2-liter bottle, you would spend $350 to win the auction worth $560.

So even if you don't like Mtn Dew, go out and buy 350 bottles, dump it all down the drain, and you still save almost $200.

Where is MD $1 for a 2Liter? Sucks it'll loose all it's fizz too since you have to open it, but that would be worth it. :p

Most places around me in Buffalo (stores, gas stations, etc) alternate $1 2-liters every single week between Coke and Pepsi products. Just have to grab as many as you can during a Pepsi week.
