Is the god-awful back button still in? Mac user here, so I'll wait for the OS X binary.
It is, but you can right-click >> customize >> use small icons to get something that may be more suitable to your likes.

I don't mind the big back button at all really, but I can see how it'd look stupid to some.

1. Do you or anyone have the pix/screen shot of the "BIG" back button? I would like to see what it looks like before i might switch over.

2. Who's that dude in your avatar?
Is that the guy doing the health care plan in the commercial at some college?

This is apparently the OSX version. The Windows version is the same idea, just different color scheme:

Part of being good Mac software is that the UI should fit in. Choosing small icons looks closer to Safari, which is nice, but the default layout is what 95% of folks will user. Windows implementation is uglier, I would say, as it's all blue and such (if I'm remembering correctly).

Bill Keightley--longtime equipment manager for the University of Kentucky basketball program. He died recently.

Thanks.

* Wow, that's big with no colors except for the traffic lights :lol .

* Sorry to hear about Bill Keightley. R.I.P.

I use quite a lot of extensions so will have to wait until more of those are supported before I switch over. I tried beta4 but found that I couldn't use it to the degree that I currently use Firefox 2.

is there a way to change back to the old address bar history popups yet?

The new ones suck.
No, and there may never be. There's an extension to make them look like the old ones, but the functionality is pretty deeply embedded into the browser. But I've found that the new ones are actually really useful once you get used to them. New version running very well on OSX. Also for anyone complaining about the theme I'm sure the Firefox 2 one will become available for download like a day after FF3 is released.

Oh and seriously dudes using FF2: if your extensions work with RC1, jump on it. Other than the UI on Windows it's better than FF2 in every way.

The address bar thing is kinda hit and miss. When I want to go to a certain GAF thread, it's great. When I want to go to a website that starts with "forum" and the first bunch of results are GAF pages, not so much.

But the beauty of it is that you just have to remember the name of the forum (which you obviously do if you're typing in the URL), type space, and then type "forum" and it pops up. It's also reasonably smart in my experience, so it will learn what you mean as time goes by.

It's not poorly designed, it's just that it's so hard-coded in my head that if I want to come GAF I type "ne", press down then enter. Or the other site, "for", down and enter. But now I have to type "forums." down and enter! And my brain can't handle this transition, to the point that I'm finally using bookmarks after about 9 years online never using them

Bookmarks are included in the new address bar too :P. You don't even have to type "forums" just type "for " then whatever the name is. It really just required me to rethink how I used the address bar a little, which has really made it worth it.

Is there any way to make the tab bar stay there permanently? I dislike how it jumps up when I open a tab for the first time.

A new tab button would be nice, but the add-on for that isn't compatible.

Tools --> Options --> Tabs

Check "Always show tab bars"

Saw this earlier today and it runs great!

I'll be using this as my default browser until IE8 Beta 2 comes out which should be good I'm hoping!

When I open a bookmarked folder of links, the tabs that are already open are not replaced, instead pushed over. How can I fix that?

Changes I've noticed
- Most Visited Folder added to Bookmarks/Bookmark Toolbar
- Horizontal Separators between toolbars have been removed
- URLs in the address box drop down list are blue (for Vista)

The top 2 were added in either b4 or b5, don't really remember which.

Not sure if I like the addresses in blue.

And for those complaining about the back button: Just tick the use small icons checkbox.

Kinda OT but kinda not... I just installed firefox for the first time, and every thread on GAF is appearing with the "no new posts" icon even when I haven't read them. wtf?

Happens as the cache file is created. Eventually they will appear and stuff

I'm about to download it regardless, but does anyone know whether the linkification and text-to-image add-ons work with RC1?

I just installed this, and for whatever reason, the bookmarks it carried over from my old version is 1-2 months outdated. I assumed that it would carry over my most recent bookmarks. Are those bookmarks gone for good, any way for me to go back and export them?

Installed this last night, pretty solid browser. Will begin slow transition from Firefox 2 soon, but the bulk of the extensions still don't work, even if you force Firefox 3 to ignore the max version. :/

So it'll be some time before I fully transition over.
