"MS has no games!" ... Okay, but ... what, Nintendo does?

Nintendo doesnt have the kind of AAA games Sony fans are used to. MS doesnt either, but they have acquired dozens of studios to make that happen. Nintendo has a very different audience as seen above in Danjin44's post. I look at that and I see maybe two games I would like to play. Others see it an incredible list. Different taste for different folks.

Would I like Nintendo to make more AAA third person action adventure games? Definitely. But after 15 years since the launch of Wii, I have come to realize I will get one maybe two of those in a generation.

MS on the other hand has Halo, Forza and Flight Sim coming out this year on next gen consoles, and thats more of my jam despite just being more Forza and Halo. Next year we will get Starfield which should be THE RPG of next gen. The skyrim of next gen if you will. In fact, with Fable, Avowed, Elder Scrolls and Starfield, Xbox will be THE console to play RPGs. Sony will remain the goto place for action adventure games and Nintendo JRPGs and smaller more quirky titles. Everyone has their own niche.

You will just have to buy all three consoles to get a taste of everything.

No no no! I appreciate this - I really do! I haven't bought a Nintendo console since the Gamecube and I'm quite in the dark when it comes to Nintendo games! Most of the games you listed are A+ choices which I'm definitely interested in.
We live in age of internet and simple google tell you most games are on Switch. This thread exist for console wars and I thought we are better than gamefaqs and Gamespot's System Wars section.

Nintendo publishes on average, about 2 games every month. That's far more than nearly every other major publisher, especially SIE and XGS who often only put out a game every 2-3 months. You may not like every game Nintendo puts out, but they're at least offering something to play every month. And it's not like Nintendo doesn't have big titles either. We have Metroid in October, a Skyward Sword remaster next month, And 2 new Pokémon Games scheduled for November and January respectively.

Xbox is finally on the right path, but only after years of constant droughts where Microsoft would often only publish 2-3 games A YEAR, Vs. Sony and Nintendo who would publish 16-20 games yearly. It's still going to be a while before Microsoft truly shakes that reputation.

I really don't see much reason to buy a Switch, but that's just me. If you say Zelda, then how about this:

If you bitch about touch screen:

And for games:

I mean, like ... every MS hater goes 'MS only has Gears, Forza and Halo' whatever (I don't agree but that's the trope).

How different is Nintendo in that regard? Can't someone just as well say, 'Nintendo only has Mario, Zelda and Metroid ... and maybe Fire Emblem whenever they feel like it'.

How many killer-IPs does Nintendo have other than those four that are relevant to this day? Not sure if Smash counts since it's not an IP as much as an IP blender.

Thoughts?

Honest truth is that after owning a PS4 Pro last generation, the appeal of Sony's first party games wore off for me. This became especially true once I saw the only decent MLB baseball game on the market go multi-plat, and so I bought an Xbox Series X. It's not because I think there are more games available on the platform, although the catalog of games extending back to OG Xbox is really nice to have, but because I believe there will be more games that I'm really interested in that tend to give me hundreds of hours of enjoyment like Elder Scrolls and Fable.

I think it's great that Sony caters to their audience really well, but the level of hyperbole that comes from that segment of this site is pretty sad. You would think they have more to talk about since they have so many games.

I think you are grossly overestimating us. :D
And you are part of the problem, if you want simple recommendation thread then make one, why need for cringy drama!?

Choose system of your preference and play damn games people, I assume most of you guys are grown ass man, stop acting like childish fanboy crying over plastic box.

As an objective statement, of course that's factually wrong (as various users have already pointed out by simply listing some recent releases).

As a subjective statement, I don't think it's too difficult to empathize with the sentiment. Needless to say, that goes vice versa. I only recently began to understand why so many people on here think only Sonys first party output is worth something after pushing myself through some of the most highly acclaimed exclusives from the last couple of years. It's all just different tastes.

I'll never understand people that don't want to play Nintendo games. Almost everything they put out appeals to me, is polished and well made, and is gameplay-focused instead of overly cinematic. Whenever I get burned out on games, a new release of a core Nintendo series usually is what gets me back into gaming. A game like Breath of the Wild, Splatoon, Mario Kart 8, Mario Odyssey, Tropical Freeze is the kind of game I can go back to for years and remains fun. There's also exclusives from third parties as well, almost all Japanese companies.

I think I'm getting like 6 games just off the top of my head from what's announced just until the end of the year, just on Switch. I guess if you can't afford the games then it's probably easier to try and act like they're not worth having.

I've found lots to play on all 3 systems.

People have different tastes. I'm playing FF7 Remake and the cringe nearly makes me vomit. It's shaping for a 6-7 out of 10 game to me, unlike the norm.

Focus on the things you enjoy rather than worrying about other people's opinions & insulting other platforms that don't interest you. :)

The only one causing cringy drama right now is you - chill. You're up in arms for reasons I have yet to understand. You act as if someone insulted you or something. We're just talking about toys.

BS, if you intended this thread to be about recommendations you'd have made it clear from the start. You were looking for cheap clicks and an active topic. It's frankly pathetic.

The Xbox Series X released in November 2020. What console exclusive games have they released since that date to the end of summer? Flight Simulator which released on PC last year is all I can think of. I have to be missing something, so please let me know.

Switch has had Monster Hunter Rise, New Pokémon Snap, Bowser's Fury, Mario Golf Super Rush, Bravely Default 2, Monster Hunter Stories 2, Disgaea 6, Game Builder Garage, etc.

You spin me right round baby right round like a record baby right round round round

JRPGs need to mature their dialogue, and improve level design.
Japanese developers are weird, they either design something incredible like Resident Evil, Death Stranding, Dark Souls or cheesy stuff like Final Fantasy.

Hard to compare the IPs between these two companies in this way. Nintendo is doing way more interesting things with his own games and often the quality overall is also better.

This is a problem I also got with JRPGs as I grew up. They need to make their characters not act like they're on drugs when the devs want to write a light-hearted scene. FF7 - like most JRPGs is going on two speeds: cringe-as-fuck dialogue or goofiness and serious-bigger-than-life situations. Many scenes with Jessie and Aerith (and Johnny) are just embarrassing to watch if you're older than 15.

Those are years old.
Pokemon is still relevant to this day, though. It makes NIntendo games even today.

Though they're not all active these days…this is a pretty big list:

Also, they own the most important IP one can possibly have…PICROSS

The switch has plenty of games. I think most are dogshit like pokemon sword, but there are a lot of them. The shovelware on the eshop is endless too.

Saying another console has no games reeks of fanboyism.

PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo - all three have a big collection of amazing games and IPs.

Make life easier and happier, and get all three. :)

Well the problem is not everyone have the money or the time for all three. I only have PS5 and Switch and still having a hard time keeping up with all the games that comes out.

Or the space. Blessed are they who have a game room.

This is a big reason I'm a huge supporter of backwards compatibility. I can't afford to keep older consoles due to HDMI slots, cables, etc ... It's nice when one knows the newer console can play anything the previous one had.

When people say "X has no games!" What they mean is "X has no GOOD games!"

Switch has no games lololol could have fooled me i'm struggling to keep up my amazon japan preorder list has about 7 titles due this year both a mix of nintendo & 3rd party and in this last few months alone i have about 9 new ones i picked up as i have been buying my way through the back catalogue of releases i had yet to try. Switch has a fucking killer library of rhythm games & danmaku shooters as well as all the other fun quirky games that don't make it onto the other machines.

Would love to know where this switch has poor 3rd party support is coming from. Maybe at release they were not giving it any attention but seeing as japan the region i mostly game in has 3rd parties crawling hand over foot to release stuff on the switch now as fast as possible as it's the only console selling a fuckload .

I'm confused here, first you guys complain about "Switch has no games" then about Switch being underpowered and now shitting on Japanese games.

To me the problem is not Switch lacking games but rather you guys don't care for Switch games overall which thats not really Nintendo's fault here. Is not really Microsoft's fault that they don't make the games I want, I'm just not their target audience.

No I mean Pokemon Sword. The games that were referred to are years old. Meaning they haven't released any meaningful title in years. But that's my opinion.

I would probably still count as an MS Console hater but this year has changed a lot for me. I've played more games this year while spending less money on video games than I ever have all due to MS Gamepass on PC and the hits still keep coming.

I have a PS4 that sits completely unplugged as more of a coaster because after Ghost of Tsushima Sony basically stopped giving a shit or so it seems. IMO if I had to buy a console I'd buy a Playstation out of redundancy with my PC but Sony really doesn't have anything to stand on right now.

If I'm being perfectly honest MS is winning this console generation simply out of the disinterest that Sony is showing. Not sure why you care what Nintendo is doing.... Nintendo is a niche market and isn't even trying to compete with MS/Sony
