MS Version of "Home": My GamerPad?

I don't see why Sony gets credit for "Home" when all they did was rip off Second Life.

They don't get credit for anything until it comes out. I think home is really much more like There.com was, then Second Life is. It's less open, more focused on the social. When I first went into second life it was a bunch of guys making trees and guns. It didn't get super social until much later.

You could even compare it to Hobbo Hotel, but if we are going to start making fun of Microsoft lets make it clear that Sony's idea is just as [un]original and just as stupid.

MS will end up beating Sony to punch on their Home idea. They'll have this thing up and running in no time and when Sony does bring out Home they will end up looking like the copy cats to the general public. Sony is either stupid or too ambitious. They want both home and little big planet perfected before they release it I guess. MS on the other hand releases first and improves on the product. The same thing happened with XBox Live. They didn't wait for anyone to give them the go ahead. Everyone one said that it was to early for online gameing on consoles. Now here we are and XBox live just keeps getting more and more polished and everyone has caught up and can't live without online gameing.

oh man, it's amazing how gaf hates on anything to do with the 360.

Thread needs more Amir0x.

I'm sure the 360 will be the GAF darling again at some stage (probably around October/November) even if it doesn't look like it right now.

Speaking of avatars...

God bless Kenny Winker and Brad Neely.

...and since that is my second comment about avatars in this thread, I guess I better weigh in on the actual topic at hand... Personally I think MS and Sony both are fucking themselves over if they think they need Home/GamerPad in order to be successful. They need to concede the battle over the casual gamer to Nintendo and get back to concentrating on making traditional gamers happy. I honestly think Home is a money hole that will keep Sony from being profitable for that much longer, and I hope this thing for MS is fake, because I don't think it will do them any favors either.

If MS have ripped SOny off its only Sony's fault for announcing Home far too early, the reasons why they did were obvious they wanted to win E3 but all they have done is allowed the competition to counter even before its been released.

Imagine MS saying at E3, "Last E3 Sony showed you home, well here's gamerpad you can download it now on xbl"

Show stealer for sure

I dont think they will, perhaps you can put a picture of your avater as your gamerpic if you wish. They wont get rid of gamerpics as they would have to refund eveyrones money!

MS 2006: "Home looks wonderful and all but that's not the direction we want to take the Xbox."

MS 2008: "Here's our copy-paste effort of Home."

I think this'll go in the hall of fame, together with "640k is more than enough for anybody", "The internet is a hype that'll die down in 3 years" and "DVD is big enough for this generation".

Keep 'em coming MS.

Aren't most people complaining that they'd ripping a stupid idea? A stupid idea that's not even proven itself? But then again, it could likely be fake.
This is entirely different from ripping off the Wiimote, which is proven by now.

This looks really bad. Bad Design. Whats with the crayon shit? Fucking stupid.
I wouldn't mind a Mii/PSHome mashup, but seriously, get some better fucking artists...or maybe its a concept problem...is this supposed to be some overtly pre-school version home, or was that a mistake?

I'll chock it up to being an early built (if true at all, which is still up in the air), but the general aesthetic is fucking horrendous.

OR MAYBE ITS FAKE AMIRITE;

Please, someone edit the OP, or even close the damn thread, save the "intelligent discussion" for the real announcement.

If gon**tendo and J***tiq are banned there's no way we're having a 6 page thread on a damn fake coming from fucking 4chan.

Edit : The post isn't adressed to you zaidr, it was just a reaction to the fact that 8 hours later this thread is still on the first page. I quoted you as an example of what's going to happen again during 5 pages at least.

I doubt this is real, but if it is they better not make nearly as big a deal about this as Sony has made out of Home. If it's a five minute deal at E3 then fine, whatever. More than that and it starts intruding on things I actually give a shit about, like video games.

I dont know what this will actually add to XBL, I guess your friends all have houses and you can walk round into each others house but what then? Seems like a waste of time to me!

It came from 4chan. And people believed it just like that? Now, I know it says believe in the banner, but come the fuck on now...

The pic is fake, but you don't know that Microsoft aren't doing something like this.

I believed. With the leak of Avatars and the onset of the Newton controller, it seems like exactly the kind of thing MS would currently do.

please god, please dont make this happen...I don't want Sony home...I dont want MS home...what is with all this 3rd life virtual environment stuff? grrrrr

Oh. You mean how everyone said the Wii would fail? And then after launch it got a chance to prove itself? How can you criticize it without giving it a chance? Heh. That Too Human thread speaks volumes.

SONY announced HOME at GDC not E3. They 'won' GDC with HOME and LBP and they 'won' E3 with a conference that wasn't as shit as the others.

I don't have nor expressed any venom towards Home, I'll gladly eat my words on the 'stupid' part if I actually like it and use it. The unproven part stands.
