MTV: 360 coming in November

I cut my losses with the N64 in 1999, the SNES in 1995, and the NES in 1990. That doesn't mean I bought new consoles. I just got tired of my old ones. I love new generations.

I like new generations too, it just that I don't see the need for MS to jump in to the new gen as fast as they can.

Would you consider buying the Xbox 360 in mid-2006?

Because if you do, it will have even more great games out for it.

It all depends on the quality of released/announced games and how the Rev and PS3 are looking. But chances are that a killer app for the Xbox this year may even force me into buying an X360 as early as next year.

What's so special about the PS2's lineup this year?

I don't know about everyone else, but for me the main big games are FF12, KH2 and SC3, Socom 3 and 3 or 4 other games that I forgot.

It's heaven for RPG gamers.

But beyond that I don't see a huge fuss. Multiplatform stuff and the typical Jack/ratchet/sly stuff from sony this november.

But I may be jumping the gun. Manabyte suggested there will be a ton of PS2 announcements at E3.

It was a simple question, people say it's gonna have the best year ever,I was just curious as to what games people were looking at to make them say this.

I think Ramirez is just pointing out that the PS2 lineup isn't so appealing to everyone that it should hold off the start of the next generation. For people that aren't really JRPG gamers, the PS2 lineup for the holidays isn't so mindblowing.

I don't understand the complaints from the PS2 fanbase. PS2 is going to have the best year it has ever had. Enjoy the damn games, be quiet and let those of us who want next gen to start enjoy it! :D Looking at the PS2 release lists developers/publishers aren't abandoning the PS2 at all. You'll get your games and a ton of good ones too!

It's just a matter of how long that lasts. Is the xbox userbase about to be abondoned? Is MS pushing things towards some of the problems the PC industry has with gaming? People mentioned they buy a new card every 6 months as if that was a good thing. That's a problem, that's not good for the consumer.

Isn't so mindblowing... yet.

Have you actually seen average current generation graphics?

...wow. Especially for someone with a Psychonauts avatar you're incredibly hypocritical. Oh no, games are suddenly ugly! We need the next-gen because modern game visuals disgust me! Even though games like Psychonauts show that art > tech, I'm an uber-graphic whore and the quality of games mean nothing if they aren't filled with AA filled bump mapping!

Gimme a break.

You're right. Good thing this isn't the norm. The standard card for PC gaming is about a 3 year old Radeon 9700pro/9800pro. And it still works fantastic with game today. 6 months is only for those who buy bleeding edge all the time. The way ATI and Nvidia are going lately they are having a hard time pumping out refresh cards in a timely fashion in 6 months. Using the 6 month analogy is misleading.

Psychonauts isn't an average looking game, and most developers are incapable of creating such an amazing artistic design. And no, I do not think games are meaningless without AA filled bump mapping. I just think that we need a new generation, for at the very least, completely clean graphics.

I was going to post the exact same point, avatar comparison and all, but decided against it considering Speevy had the good judgement to like Psychonauts in the first place.

As a PC gamer who is looking at new video cards every 6 months, I dont feel TOO much sympathy for people who feel that 4 years is too short for a console :D ... with all these PC upgrades, I feel like I've had my Xbox FOREVER, heh.

:lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol

I know that feeling. PCs are getting lesser and lesser appealing.

WoW just crashed on me for the 3rd time in a couple of days.

PC's are unreliable for gaming - and don't get me wrong, I have loved some awesome PC games over the years. Consoles are just so much easier. All we need is a controller that beats KB/M and we are set.

The main reason I want new systems is basically for better animation/physics/A.I.,especially in sports games.

Yup. You can argue about other genres all you want but sports games need a kick in the ass and next gen power will bring that.

ramirez is right, ps2's lineup looks pretty shitty to me in the near future. what appealing games are coming out?

xbox 1's lineup isn't much better, but there are a few games im looking forward to.

bottom line is the only sure-fire hit for both systems this year is madden. you should all be excited about that little slice of heaven. but who am i to dictate what you like :D

All of this just to get pwned by Sony again :lol

Why don't we just wait and see what happens instead of making blind guesses at the future. Leave the reading of the stars to Dave Chappelle :D

Great games are great games. That does not make technology any less important. No one has played a next generation game. I guess no one gets to enjoy next generation games unless the magical folks at Capcom, Konami, Square, Sony, and Namco tell you it's time.

You can enjoy them anytime you want. But having the gap between generations shrink down is by no means a good thing.

This is a 360 thread, then people stary gaying it up with PS2 posts. We want this new console, you don't fine. See your ass out of this thread then. G'damn man, same shit every thread........

I don't really see anything on PS2 or Xbox (I don't own a Cube) coming later this year worth getting too excited for. I'll probably just pick up some titles from earlier in the year, like God of War and Phantom Dust (which I just bought a couple days ago). Maybe I'll go ahead and get Conker also, but I'm thinking that after E3 I won't really care for current gen stuff anymore.

If I were Sony and Nintendo, IÂ’d wait. The lack of immediate response from two of MicrosoftÂ’s opponents will raise certain suspicion among consumers regarding a possibly premature release on the part of Microsoft. If Sony, the leader of the this generation, along with Nintendo, depending on the level of hype surrounding Revolution, release their next-generation consoles at about the same time, at a later date relative to Xbox 360, I think consumers will perceive their release dates to be the true starting point of the next generation.

sounds good...i want to say i will be there day 1, but ever since Dreamcast i haven't bought a console at launch...in my ENTIRE life.

The lineup is great, except it looks like shit. My X800XT spoils me :lol

Only Sega fans can think 4 years is good. Sony and Nintendo set the bar high with 5 years. That's usually what the market leader does, right? I mean, that extra year doesn't mean a whole lot if you get the full range of price drops. Matter of fact, it's probably a little bit better. But the problem is that 4-year problems either have no support and suck (DC), or don't see a full price drop to $99 (Xbox). Why do I want to have to re-up sooner? I'd rather wait longer and enjoy a longer time with my system, so 5+ years is what I want to see become the norm. I don't think we should be judging system life by the losers in a gen, but by the winners. Afterall, the majority of the market owns a Playstation system, and they're getting 10 years of support (although only 5 of those years are full support). PEACE.

then don't buy the new XBox at launch and keep playing the original XBox. support won't die the second the new system comes out, so wait awhile

It's this dawning feeling....

With Final Fantasy 12, KH 2, and the new Zelda, there just isnt much of a feel or need to upgrade to a new generation anytime soon

Acutally, Kingdom Hearts 2 makes me feel like setting my Playstation 2 on fire. Although I agree with the general setiment. I'll likely get a 360 simply because I have no willpower.
