I just wanted to chime in to say that this thread is amazing. Many of these tracks bring back vivid memories... Just listening to Metroid Prime's Phendrana Drifts, and I just remembered how incredibly amazing that game was.

During dinner at our wedding reception, I put together a selection of songs that was all game music except for the last song. The design was to be sorta light mellow music that would fit for a nice dinner where nobody would think otherwise, but those that were gamers would get an nice kick at recognizing all the music.

It started off with more mellow/classical feel and worked its way to be more upbeat with a bit of jazz towards the end of it. When I told my girlfriend back then, now my wife of course, she kinda rolled her eyes at me but I told her to trust me, it'll be tasteful. Not only was she impressed, but she really loves the selection and plays it all the time off her iPhone at work to this date.

Perhaps I shall embark upon an effort to recreate my huge SH relaxing mix which mysteriously disappeared months ago and post it later today.

Disclaimer: Make sure other SH tracks don't get mixed in with your relaxing ones. Speaking of polar opposites, some of those tracks seem designed with the singular purpose of creating as much stress as audibly possible in the mind of the listener.

Ecco the Dolphin - Defender of the Future. I know people love the SegaCD soundtrack (and it is good), but the soundtrack for the Dreamcast game has stuck with me for nearly 10 years.
