Music or OST you love but only listen to low volume or headphones so nobody else finds out.

Basically, music in games that you want to listen but is also embarrassing.

For me, many "cute" games have very catchy music but they also sound like some kind of music for children parties from the 80's.

Old Kirby games, for instance. I can't resist their music, especially this piece:

But the one piece i like and nobody has to find out about or else i will have to kill them is this:

Any yeah, i absolutely hate the singing Yoshi's but it's... so... damn... catchy... make... it... stop....

I don’t feel embarrassed what I listen to. If people think it’s stupid or dumb. I couldn’t give 2 shit. I will listen to what I want

Yeah gaming wise soundtracks, nothing to be embaressed about. If this was a general discussion topic as in music as a whole....hmm I have my guilty pleasures that I wouldn't want people in an elevator to hear :p

I was once on a bus listening to a heavy metal version of Metroid ("Varia Suite" I believe?) and I had those awful bad headphones that let all the music escape. People on the bus were turning around to look at me. So embarrassing now I think about it.

Same thing but in a college class (prof was running late and ultimately didn't come in) back on a cold winter day in late 2003. I was listening to MP3s of Gitaroo Man, DDR Max, Nuku Nuku/Megumi Hyashibara, and Cardcaptor Sakura.

Apparently I was completely oblivious to how loud my earbuds were and the rest of the class was snickering at me. No fucks given, turned it down a bit and kept on listening!

I had some computer speakers (logitech z2300) and was watching anime episodes with op/ed at max volume. Whole block was listening

LOL, that's good! I did something similar to that back in 1998 while playing Time Gal (Sega CD version) with a loud surround sound system. All the weird noises the dub actress makes almost sounded like a porno to everyone else in the house.

This was in the middle of nowhere in rural Howell, MI though.

I fucking blast Witcher 3 ambient music all the time with no shame. I think some videogame and movie OST's are some of the best music around these days and at the risk of sounding douchey, a lot of people just don't like it because it's just not very mainstream. Tracks tend to run longer and it's full of ebbs and flows which can make people not care.

But when a song starts small and then builds into a sweeping crescendo with drums and horns and strings or with heavy guitar or synthesizer riff....

I remember my Mom and I went out for a few drinks and food one night and on the way to drop her off I started blasting Hans Zimmer's Notebook from Man of Steel and my Mom was like, "WTF are we listeing to?" My car, my rules and I cranked that shit up. By the end though she was like:

I mean how could anyone on this earth not LOVE this whole performance?:

I don't even think I've ever played a Megaman game from start to finish AT ALL and I fucking love all these tracks.

There's just too many great composer out there putting out incredible stuff for video games to pass up. Gustavo Santaolalla, Jeremy Soule, Inon Zur, Hans Zimmer, Koji Kondo, Jesper Kyd, Tommy Tallarico, Mick Gordon, Yuzo Koshiro, I mean the list goes on and on.

Parappa.

The songs are catchy but outside like one guy across both games, no one actually raps and the lyrics are horrible.

Last stage against spaghetti guy in 2 had a great beat but those lyrics are pretty bad and someone hearing them can come to uncomfortable conclusions.

Not exactly what you mean, but I actually buy plenty of songs that feature in games. I picked up the GTA Vice City soundtrack (all 80s, so hard to go wrong). I grabbed a load of tunes that featured in Burnout 3, and actually discovered Jimmy Eat World because of it. I bought Faunts:M4, Part II (Mass Effect end credits) and Illusion by VNV Nation (Hellblade end credits).

I also bought some of the songs from Tales from the Borderlands, and grabbed the limited edition version of Life of Strange so I could get access to the art book and CD soundtrack, which is hella good! (See what I did there?)

I cranked The Messenger OST at work to the guffaws of my tastless co-workers, so I know I'm not that worried...

I am, however, embarrassed how much of how many songs I enjoyed from Hatsune Miku Project Diva: Future Tone. I probably had around 30 songs on my favorites I would genuinely listen to outside of the context of the game.

I'm too old to understand what a 'weeaboo' is, but I know it's a thing, and I know I don't want to be called one.

Well hell no to low decibels. I still blast some Sunsoft Batman for the Sega Genesis at 3:30am or whenever it's pertinent to me. Sometime i do it nekkid. Don't tell anyone.
Naoki Kodaka is a god.

Those are both amazing :messenger_grinning_smiling: why would you be embarrassed to listen to such quality?

Most of the VGM I listen to is shame-free. Anime music on the other hand... Monogatari in particular...

I often play any of the Halo soundtracks either through my car stereo or headphones 😁❤️

Yeah, Halo is the only video game I play music from, especially the opening theme from Reach, but I blast it. Halo has amazing music, I'm not embarrassed by it at all.

I used to have Shinobi and Formula One (the first PSX game) music tracks on my old MP3 player. I always made sure to have those on a separate playlist so people didn't hear it if I was driving people around. lol. Heavy metal Castlevania covers are great too.
