Must Have PS Vita Games

Soul Sacrifice: Delta. Absolute must-have, unique, fun game. I will not dillute this point by adding other suggestions that have probably already been covered.

Also, digital only. Got a 64 gb at this point, but I was doing fine on my 16. I've got over 100 games for the device, so it seemed like the right decision.

All three of those games are incredibly charming until you actually play them.

Not sure about P4 yet as I haven't played it (but I am expecting good things) but I agree about the other two.

Gravity Rush looks good on paper, but the gameplay isn't great. The music is wondrous though,

Tearaway on the other hand is definitely the most overrated Vita game to me. I've seen many just rave about how good it is. It's not. It's a glorified Vita tech demo wrapped up in Media Molecule's art style. I personally didn't enjoy it all. But that could be just me.

You like metal gear solid? Get that HD collection dude.

Also FFX HD.

I just recommended ps2 games for this guy. The hell is wrong with me.

I never asked for PS2 recs did I?

Danganronpa is the Vita's killer app.

Danganronpa is a must. The sequel comes out soon too.

The thread is overwhelmingly in favor of this game so I'll get it :)

]Ys: Memories of Celceta, I bought a Vita just to play this game, everything else is an extra.

This game intrigues me but I've never played a Ys game. Is it necessary to understand it?

As far as racers go, Wipeout and Sonic All Star Racing Transformed are phenomenal on Vita.

SASRT is a great game... but I have trouble recommending it as it's got an awful framerate and the most bugs of any version I've played. Only recommend it if you have absolutely no other platform to play it on.

This is why you pick Ys on Vita and generally ignores any indies with the metroidvania tag because you are better off playing Metroid / Castlevania for the superior 'gameplay' experience.

no, it's not necessary at all. The Ys series is fantastic, there's 3 games for PSP that can be played on Vita and of course Memories of Celceta.

A fast explanation of the story: Adol(the hero of the series) goes from land to land looking for new adventures, every title is just a new adventure in a new land, so there's not many recurring characters and almost nothing that happened before matters.

Hot Shots Golf is the best Vita game.

It's a perfect combination of relaxing and infuriating that will take you hours to complete.

FFX-HD is great
Mortal Kombat is better than the PS3 version
Tearaway is great but you can easily beat it in a weekend
Silent Hill was fun if you have someone to play with, but the load time for each level is pretty long
Gravity Rush was awesome too

did you own a PSP?

Gravity rush is an amazing game, until you try and control it and it all falls apart.

Tearway is little more than a digital pop-up book with some of the worst fighting mechanics ever seen in a video game. The player has no choice in any aspect of the game outside of decorating things. You just walk on a straight path and occasionally trigger some sort of gate with a Control gimmick. It is an incredibly charming pop-up book, but never achieves much more than that.

No, Ys: Memories of Celceta can be your first Ys game and you'd lose very little in the way of story.

ok, I'll definitely check this game out then

I did own a PSP, but only for a short period of time before I sold it to go back to the DS. The only games I ever really played on it were FF7 Crisis Core, Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters, and FF Dissidia. A little bit of Monster Hunter too.

e: I guess I should cancel the 16gb card I just ordered off amazon and get a 32 gb one. It's been a while since I've used PS+ on my PS3, so I should probably check to see which games are discounted. I'll download Muramasa Rebirth for sure though.

Well really we should ask if you're a fan of visual novels or not. On the surface, it's a mix of Phoenix Wright and 999. If you have no experience with the genre, there's really no way of knowing if you'd like it or not.

There are a ton of great PSP games to play, but Megaman Maverick Hunter X and FFT: war of the lions are my favorites.

people hate FFT because it has slowdowns during spells, but it's a turn-based game so I don't care

well I really only have experience with two visual novels. Steins;Gate, which is amazing, and Fate/Stay Night, which I started but dropped, not because I didn't like it, but because I didn't have the time. I like 999 even though I never beat it, and I like Phoenix Wright from what I've played, so I don't think it could hurt to get Danganronpa.

Though, if you want the best introduction to the Ys franchise, you could download Ys: Oath in Felghana. It's on the PSN and is undoubtedly the best Ys game currently available.

Is there a demo for either of the games?

... Since Persona 3 portable isn't on that list I'll suggest it.

.... and then I'll suggest MGS: Peacewalker.

.... I could make a gigantic list, but I'll leave it there.

shoutout to all the Spelunky bros!!!

I'm surprised there's not more people mentioning this game really!

It's the only thing I've really been playing on my Vita since I bought it (the game, not the Vita).

Spelunky has consumed my soul :(

These games are must haves for any vita owner.

I haven't noticed anyone mention Malicious Rebirth yet. It isn't that popular but I like it a lot (as if you couldn't tell from my current avatar) - probably played it more hours than Tearaway and Gravity Rush combined.

just gonna post, VITAGAF best gaf. you guys always bring a smile to my face and my Vita's face. I go out and get new games with these kinda threads. breaks my wallets heart though :-{

This is exactly how I feel about these two games. Also I am about 15 hours into P4G, and while I am enjoying the game, it is not living up to the 10/10 hype others give it. Imo I am enjoying Ys more.

I'll check it out

I've beaten P3:FES, so P3P is already on my radar. Is Peacewalker in the HD collection, cuz I'll probably get that

Ys: Memories of Celceta
Danganronpa

Get the upcoming Shinovi Versus as well. Gameplay is so good.

never heard of it. I'll look it up

edit: oh it's senran kagura

edit: oh it's senran kagura

Shinovi Versus is so much more polished compared to the original Senran Kagura. Had quite a bit of fun with the Japanese version even though I can't really understand it.

Not talking about the...stripping clothes or whatsoever aspect of it, just purely as a gameplay aspect.

ok I'll check out a trailer or some game play videos to see if it looks cool

yuck @ Danganronpa and Gravity Rush mentions. dafaq is wrong with y'all?

OP, did you get Ys: Memories of Celceta yet? Get that.

If you can find Lumines: Electric Symphony for cheap, get that too.

Hotline Miami is brilliant. Uber must buy.

I recommend all three Atelier Arland Plus games; Rorona, Totori and Meruru. Super fun time management alchemy based games. I would honestly play the PS3 versions just for the better performance but the Vita versions are okay if you really don't want to sit down in front of a TV or no PS3.
