Definitely second this, macs dont get viruses because of how Apple specifically built the hardware.

I had 12 workspaces up, running every Word/Excel/Powerpoint type of software, had a movie playing, then Youtube videos playing, then 5x system monitoring software via terminal ( htop, gnome-system-monitor, psensor, etc. ), regular browser surfing, etc. etc. all at once and only hit 45% CPU load and 1.5GB of RAM usage.
comodo
factually best firewall] + defenseplus sandbox + decent antivirus = nothing gets trough
Noscript for Firefox. Done.
Avast + (Spybot or Malwarebytes.)

This kind of information is useless to the OP considering your hardware setup and choice of browser is most likely different from his.
My anti-virus uses 0MB of memory, it's pretty good.
Microsoft Security Essentials
it's not that goodAh, do you use common sense AV as well? It's the best I've ever used.

Where do you get this nonsense information from?
Am I the only one that uses Avira? =(

lolwut
1: apple does not build the hardware, unless you consider that apple logo to deflect viruses
2: virus protection comes from the software, which is BSD-based, which was developed by Berkeley decades ago
3: macs do get viruses
1: choice of browser has a negligible performance difference
2: what are you implying? the fact that linux is the most hardware-compatible OS in the world means that his hardware choice shouldn't matter, and the fact that linux is lightweight means OP can likely replicate his results.
Microsoft Security Essentials
+1 to this.Microsoft Security Essentials + Malwarebytes are all anyone ever needs. Anything else is pretty much a waste.

Am I the only one that uses Avira? =(
this is actually very false. MSE scored extremely low when it was run through the gauntlet
What OS are you on? Windows Defender has stepped up and is actually pretty good these days.
Yep. Defender/Security Essentials + Malwarebytes for me.
I haven't used anything for the past year and a half. I was on AVG before that.
Why are people bringing up macs? He asked for a lightweight antivirus suggestion, not paperweight hardware.
