My first PLAY-ASIA experience is awful

I've been using play-asia a while now and never had problems. With airmail I get my stuff usually after 4-7 days, 9-10 days if I'm unlucky and it happens rarely.

A week is not bad IMO wait a little longer before you contact them.

No problems with Play-Asia for the 3 years that I've shopped with them. I always use either FedEx or UPS because the turn-around time is 1-2 days (I live in the US). My stuff is always well-packed and in perfect condition.

Ordering from Play-Asia was the Worst Decision of MY LIFE.
I used the cheapest shipping possible and had to WAIT OVER A WEEK.
I MUST RIGHT THIS GRAVE INJUSTICE BY BITCHING ABOUT IT OVER THE INTERNET!

Very well it seems.

OP, you think you're the first person to have an item held up in the mail or something? I mean you've ordered something for an international shipment, you've went for the cheapest option and you're complaining that it has taken over week? and such a shipping time is somehow Play Asia fault?

Got it, you've earned your tag, idiot.

I live in the US, but NCX has been awesome the couple times I used them for Japanese imports so no Play Asia for me in the States:

Yup, I use NCSX if I can help it since it's so close by. Too bad they don't have a brick and mortar store... I'd be spending a LOT of time in Queens if that was the case (and not just to try and pick up Korean girls in Bayside :lol ).

i use NCSX as well but i buy from P-A sometimes cuz they have some good sales or they might have stuff that NCSX don't. i usually get my packages from NCSX the next day with standard shipping. it's fantastic :)

I didn't even know you could have a tag that long.:lol
I've seen tags that long before, RevenantKioku had more PEINS in his tag for a long while before he lost half of them. That said, long tags are rare.

Yep, this is the reason I've gone with NCSX at times was because they had stuff that Play-Asia didn't have. Got my stuff within the week I ordered and everything was perfect.

Hell, I've ordered from GAME (wanted my EU copy of MPO) and that arrived in within a week without problems.

Play-Asia is great, all items arrive here very fast even with the cheapest shipping. I live in a obscure place somewhere in Euroland, waiting a week is nothing.

I've always bought from them by airmail (cheapest shipping), it normally takes 2-3 weeks for the order to arrive. Never had any problem

And of course, :lol @ tag

I really REALLY hope that is a Garth Marenghi's Darkplace reference.

When I read that line I instantly had Lucien Sanchez's voice in my head speaking it.

I have ordered from them before with no problem, got quite a few Gamecube imports that way. Always use tracking as an option is about the only thing I can say.

I much prefer if the price is close to use NCSX based out of NYC

Never had a problem so far. I bought all kinds of stuff from them, secondhand games, music cd's, toys etc. All arrived within 2 weeks (Europe).

Been using them for 4-5 years and never had a problem. Yes a few items have arrived after 14 days instead of the normal 7 days but thats Royal Mails (UK Shitty mail company) fault. Even when a few items have gone missing play-asia have always been very helpful and replaced it with a new item. No questions asked!!

i got a japanese white psp-1000 a couple months after it came out. shipped to the US and had it no more than 2 weeks (more like 5 days).

Obviously a week isn't a big deal if you paid for cheap shipping.

However when you pay for over-night, which costs a significantly larger amount of money, and it comes in a week. Then that is a big problem.

I'm sure that some of those reading this have ordered games from play-asia.com, but how was your experience?

What is wrong with this company? Has anyone else had a bad experience?

Please share.

Interesting you mention that. I've used them twice, and haven't had shipping problems. Then again, I'm located in the US...

One thing I did have a problem with is their website ordering form. The day they put up Tatsunoko vs Capcom for Wii, I tried placing an order for it and two other games through PayPal. The order went through just fine --- HOWEVER, they placed an EXTRA order with the same games right after it, on their own!! No browser refreshing, no problems on my end whatsoever.

Fortunately, each order must be authorized separately to PayPal, so I didn't get double charged.

Actually, when I ordered the Japanese version of BattleFantasia, it was at my door on its Japanese release date. I thought that was kind of strange. I'm really sorry to hear about your bad experience with them.

The other nice thing about NCSX is that if you order relatively early, you are pretty much guaranteed to get the preorder bonus from Japan along with your copy of the game.

Also, make sure you go with Priority Shipping instead of UPS when you order with NCSX. They both cost the exact same, but USPS Priority is much better. NCSX ships out new releases on Thursdays, and with Priority I get them on Saturday. With UPS, I don't get them until the following Thursday because UPS doesn't operate on the weekends.

I have had nothing but great service from Play-Asia and have been using them for years.

More often than not, it surprises me how quickly I get the items I have ordered sent to the UK compared to other import shops. (though VG+ are good as well)

Hell, I even managed to get my Wii at launch from them when everyone was panicking about trying to get one. (ordered just a few days before launch)

Plus, they always throw in some weird candy when you purchase hardware. Can't go wrong really. :D

Oh, and nice tag. :lol

wow, the following thursday with UPS? where are you located at? except for weekends, i get my UPS stuff next day from them since i live in MA.

I too have had terrible experience when i used PLAY-ASIA (for the first time aswell incidentally), I ordered MGS Bande Desinee and was told the item was shipped soon after my order, 3 months later and still nothing! I repeatedly kept nagging them and asking them where the heck my DVD had got too and no response, FINALLY i got a reply and was eventually sent another copy that thankfully reached me. Don't think ill be shopping from there again any time soon though!...

so they sent an item that got lost in the mail, you complained, and they sent another one, but they're the bad guys?

let me guess, you used the cheap shipping, and didn't have a tracking number?

My first order from PA took 25 days, which was how long I was expecting it to (due to the slow local mail company).

On Monday it is going to be 2 months since I ordered my second and it still hasn't arrived. I already contacted them and they say they will investigate with the local customs but it could take up to 3 weeks (?). Problem is one item is already out of print...

Meanwhile vgplus only took 9 days, it's a bit more expensive but probably worth it. Maybe it was a fluke though.

I live in US and I preordered a game from play-asia. Which shipping method is best? I selected box airmail, should I switch?

edit: I guess I'll keep it as airmail since I'm in no hurry.

Also has anyone in the US been hit with customs?

How much did you have to pay? Also which state do you live in? (not like it matters D:)

Nothing? Isn't it a free service? I'm in IL btw.

Anyway, I wouldn't go for the cheapest because as others have said, it can take months. Spend the extra buck.

Hmm nevermind I thought you were hit with extra charges or something. I'll take a look at their other shipping options. Thanks

Dude, I use standard international shipping and it takes 2 or 3 weeks to get the stuff.
And you're bitching about a week?:lol

HahahaHaHa

I ordered a gameboy micro a month ago and it hasn't arrived yet.

Nice tag, Beno. You'll probably get it today or tomorrow. P-A shipments have always taken longer since the Japanese Post Office was privatised. My last one took 8-9 days.
