My first Vita game in the mail

And I open it up, eagerly only to find their's no manual? WTF?

At first I was gonna send this shit back, but then I decided to do a google search instead. Apparently NA retail Vita games don't come with a manual.

Why?

On one hand, I'm sure it's great for the envirnonment and the company saving money and tree's, but seriously, what the hell. Wish I had known this before hand, not that it would have affected my purchase mind you; I'm one of those people who typically avoid buying used, because of stuff like this. No manual or inserts, sometimes the box is missing, or you don't get the original case, and even the box is missing or damaged is some way. When I do look at buying used games, and see this in the descriptions I always wonder and ask myself "How can people lose the manual?" In some especially worse cases, all you get is the game cartridge/disc itself, but I digress.

So yeah, New physical retail Vita games. No manuals. Disappointing.

Oh, and yeah It's Persona 4 Golden ;P

Yeah, at best you'll get an online pass insert in the case. Or there's a reversible cover that outlays the game controls, which you can't see cause the game case isn't transparent.

games don't have manuals anymore.

that's why those kids are getting stuck in Metroid. They don't know that the morph ball exists.

Whenever we put out a physical game, expect Xseed/NIS levels of books and such.

At least you picked 2012's Game of the Year.

There's an 80-page digital manual included with the game, though. Some other Vita games don't even bother with that.

Japanese Vita games don't usually have manuals either.

Actually, Senran Kagura has a nice colored manual but Gravity Daze just had some colored ads.

Don't get manuals in the UK either, you open the box and there's nothing but the little cartridge. I feel like this is a trend that will move onto other platforms eventually. I miss manuals :(

BTW you should buy Gravity Rush next.

I don't remember the last game I bought that came with a manual. It's usually nothing or just a one page insert.

Vita games have digital manuals, thankfully.

In case you're wondering where the manual is, you can access it from the home screen for the game. The button's at the top.

I don't even get a box and cart with my Vita games!

No manual and just a teeny tiny game card. The cases are small but still too big for what they are. Seems like such a waste of plastic. All that case to carry a tiny little card.

Yup, well, even console games sometimes come without manuals now..it's just how it is nowadays.

Also, for some reason I recognize your name from somewhere else, I just cannot remember from where..fighting games? MMOs? Dammit, internet.

I used to care about manuals but then I realized that I don't even look through them ever and they just sit there in the box.

There's a digital manual when you press the Home button, but I guess most people forget it's there. That, and I don't think anyone reads digital manuals before playing.

It seems like it's more and more ideal to just download portable games. Eventually consoles will get there too, probably.

Sadly, thick and meaty manuals are a thing of the past.
See what I did thar?

I'll bite; who are you?

Oh, just a smallish developer for now. We're working on a PC game, two Playstation Mobile games, and one for an "unreleased platform".
Nothing too impressive right now, but once we have a few more games out, I'll be much happier shilling our work. :D

I have a love for cute little physical goods and feelies. Why make something wonderful, and treat it like something that isn't wonderful? :)
