My friend got a girlfriend through streetpass

I think that's a pretty sweet story. Nothing creepy about it. They met over a mutual interest. Now if their relationship can last half as long as Xenoblade's story, they'll be together for... about 10,000 years, right?

They must have had Mii's with defining traits because I've streetpassed the same people for months and I don't see anyone who looks like their avatars.

Somehow I'm picturing them communicating only in Xenoblade Chronicles dialogue:

She approaches him "oh hi theyyyre".
He goes "whadyawant?"
She shows him his Mii in her Street Pass Plaza.
He goes "meeee?"
Pauses for a second: "another vision!"
<foresees them in bed sometime later>
Him "I'll show you the power of the Monado. Backslash!"
Her "I'm really feeling it! Let's press on and on and on"
Him "We can definitely do this!" "My rifle's getting hotter"
Her "OK, my turn"
Him "Hey not so fast"
Her "Show no restraint!"
<30 seconds later>
Both "Good job all"
Him "Did you see me, did you see what I did?"
Her "I could really do with a shower right now"
<vision ends>

I feel like this is the intended idea of streetpass, except it intersects weirdly with Nintendo's concerns with actually interacting with other human beings and so just kind of fizzled

Oh lord.

OP is Jelly?

OP is certainly not peanut butter and jelly. Extremely happy for the guy but it does make me wonder if streetpass could be used in a worse way.

Hey thats a great story. You can truly find a special person in gaming. Met an ex of mine through a gaming forum, sadly we didn't last but I'll cherish the memories. Gamer gf's are abit harder to maintain since they also love games and hijack your console if they want dibs :(. Had to buy 2 of everything to get to play with the consoles. She was pretty deadly playing FPS though.

He should take her to one of Nintendo's love hotels.

But seriously, this is adorable. There are plenty of people that I've streetpassed multiple times but I've never recognized anybody. I did hold a few short "conversations" though.

I can see it. I was in the halls at school once and some girl I didn't know pulled out her 3DS and showed it to me saying, "This is you, right?" Yep it was.

Anything can be an icebreaker as long as it does the job.

My grad program is at a school that has undergrad students, so I find myself passing the same strangers a lot. A lot of them left after last year, so I was left high and dry trying to beat that Streetpass fishing game, but not before I 100% every puzzle!

I haven't been able to recognize anyone from their Mii, but most of that is me not wanting to ask random college students about whether or not I passed their avatar in some game. That, and the one guy who uses a generic Mii with a different haircut. That's really impressive that your friend's girlfriend was able to pull that off! That's pretty cute, honestly. And who knows? Maybe Nintendo will buy the rights to their story and use it in NX advertising, assuming that has Streetpass, too.

I pulled this off, in a way, with the MM3DSXL as an ice breaker but that never went anywhere. Heh.

This is basically how it is for us too. Every year, new Miis show up and old ones never return to your plaza gates.

Last year in a bookstore I remember seeing a girl around that age or probably younger playing Hyrule Warriors as Zelda. She was as nice looking as Zelda.

Too bad I am not a Nintendo fan and I'd have complained about the framerate as well....

Alright, I guess this thread is appropriate for this.

Aside from the benefit of playing certain games on it, there are two major reasons why I decided to join the 3DS ecosystem, and one of them is if I end up meeting a potential girlfriend that is at least slightly into games, I feel like the chance of them having a 3DS is bigger than any other platform, so it leaves a place open for connection. I don't feel like I need a girlfriend that's into games like I am, but the truth is it is one of the bigger hobbies of mine, and I would hope they are into it just a little.

It's really cool that they got together that way.

That's almost exactly how I met my girlfriend. I was on my way to work, streetpassed someone I thought was our Samsung rep (I worked at Best Buy at the time) but she had her twitter handle in her greeting. I figured why not say hey, and tweeted her. We've been together for almost 2 years now.

I feel like getting a 3DS now, but I'm gonna need the games Theaterythm and LovePlus too. I wonder if that shows up on my streetpass XD

A few years ago I streetpassed a guy in my apartment building on a daily basis. Before they introduced the calendar functionality, when it was your birthday people would just get notified on your greeting.

So on my birthday I went to work and when I came home that night there was a "Happy Birthday FusilliC" sign on the front door of the building. Seemed equal parts touching and creepy.
