My Frustration with Sony is growing

I'm on my 8th PS4. Yup.. 8th.
I called Sony support this past Saturday .

My friend sent his PS4 to sony 3 times. He's on his fourth. It's been unplayable since he got it in April, and finally last week started playing Destiny.

Do you know for sure that it's 8 different consoles? Maybe they repair some random thing and keep sending the same borked console to you.

"First PS4:
Kept ejecting the disc, Netflix and huluplus didn't work right. Called and even after I did everything Sony support wanted me to do it made the problem got worse because the PS4 kept trying to eject a disc that wasn't in it. Sent it in and got it replaced.

Second PS4:
Came in during final week so my kids mainly used it for Netflix and Huluplus. After finals I put in The Boondocks Saints bluray and the PS4 ejected the bluray and turned itself off. Even with a specialist we couldn't get it to turn back on. Sent it in and got it replaced.

Third PS4:
Does not run Netflix and Huluplus right at all. Randomly freezes and runs slow as hell. Called in multiple times, wasted money on a flash drive, follow the specialist instructions and the PS4 doesn't read that there's a flash drive plugged in it. After a couple of hours the specialist said that there's nothing I can do and that he has never seen this happen before. I even gave him the error code that popped up and he said they haven't put that code in the system yet. So I got to call back Monday so I can speak with someone in corporate. I have no idea what that means. I've spent more time trying to fix my PS4's than I have playing them."

I wonder if they have an electrical issue at the socket the PS4 is plugged into..

Despite me telling him I've had/have the same PS3 for years and a vast array of electronics plug in threw out my home he insist I get a electrician to see if that's what killing my PS4.

Yeah, I'd take him up on this advice. Alarm bells should have been ringing after the second or third console died. I can't believe you've let this go on so long. Frying eight consoles in the space of a year, jesus fucking christ.

After the second console broke I would be looking for other potential causes of the breakage. Namely the electricity supply and other environmental factors (including your home itself and the other people that live there.)

Eight consoles breaking goes against too many odds to put all of the issues down to faulty hardware or software.

Maybe you should look into the wiring in your house?

This might definitely be the issue. I had that problem with a power bar I was using, it kept frying all of my Laptop adapters and batteries but I couldn't figure out why until I went through 5 of them. At which point without a laptop adapter I borrowed my sisters Laptop for a few days, plugged it into the power bar and it killed hers too. I tossed it and since then, no issues.

I can't possibly imagine how it could be anything but an electrical problem in your house if it's not an odd ventilation problem or something. Or your cat hates you and has been secretly pissing in each one.

Maybe the PS4 can't handle voltage dips or resonance in a way that your other electronics can? Do you have any large motors connected to the same circuit? :P

Considering you have a child in the home, I'd highly suggest calling an electrician. Something is wrong on your end.

Dude, no. This is a problem with your electrical wiring, holy shit. I could understand two, maybe four unlucky consoles at the most (which is already insane). But eight?? That's near logistically impossible. get your wiring checked out, there must be a condition aligning with how the PS4 handles power that seems to fry it specifically connected to that socket. This may even extend to every outlet in your house, don't think trying it elsewhere with the same results disproves a fault in your own wiring.

Maybe it's your house.
My old house use to be super humid during summers, it pretty much ruined all of my GCN controllers and PS2.

8?!?

Something is wrong on your end.

Also , your daughter deleted all those emails huh.

Im sorry but this seems like bs to me.

If its not i feel for you , but seriously get your wiring checked ,try a different outlet i mean this is just not possible.

Going through eight systems is definitely not normal and I wouldn't point the finger at Sony after going through so many. This smells like another wine cooler situation.

The disc eject one is kinda common. It's cause the eject button wraps around the bottom and can get stuck.

Also, they gave you a free controller, 4games and 20 bucks of credit in the past year on top of replacing your console 8 times. If I were Sony, I'd rather you never buy a Ps4 again to cut my losses. Sorry TS, but it is true.

lol op i think sony would rather you become an xbox one owner rather than having to keep sending you ps4s.

Thank you! He even said that this phone call was being recorded and I asked him aren't all phones recorded so there should be a record of my 6 PS4'S replacement!

If you really have gone through 8 PS4s there would be more than just phone records. You'd have support tickets, confirmation of units being received for service, confirmation of new ones being shipped out, and correspondence emails, and all sorts of other records.

I could understand up to 4 or 5 faulty units in a row. 8? You probably have better chances of winning the lottery!

Edit:
Why are your kids accessing your email???

Let's say the failure rate of PS4's is 1%, which would still be incredibly high. 1 out of a 100 PS4's would fail. If I'm not mistaken, the probability of this happening 7 times in a row is 0,0000000000001%.

I feel it's safe to assume the problem is in your end.

Protip: An enclosed box on top of a radiator is not an ideal place to set up a console.

You see OP, you seem like a guy who is more into the dark side of things. You should harness the burning anger you have right now to choose if you want to stay with Sony or go with Nintendo/MS.

The thread's current development explodes very much in this sense.

In this thread as well, there are people scheming to tell you how other consoles are better but you and the other who experience the same must overcome this experience because Sony can't lose either.

When I think about it, this has happened before in the first Playstation as well.

Thus when I look back in the past, I feel that enthusiasm with Sony again. Fans who will continue to play with the PS4 and its peripherals will also recall their feverish enthusiasm. With that passion, we will not lose to other consoles and the PS4's journey will continue onwards.

Has OP checked to see if the flow of voltage going through the sockets he's plugging the PS4s into isn't higher than what's needed? Sounds like an electrical problem.

As everyone else said, there's no fucking way you've gone through eight and it's not been your fault.

Assuming you're even telling the truth? There's almost certainly something wrong with the wiring in your house, or how you're taking care of the system.

Holy shit, 8 PS4s! I would legitimately get your electricity, wiring, and outlets checked. If that comes back clear, then you are the most unlucky motherfucker on earth.

I work for a major electronics company and this just sounds impossible, the average consumer electronic has a 15% failure rate and from my understanding the PS4 is well below that (atleast it should be considering the PS3 was). 8 out of 8 consoles failing would be insane... it's something on your end.

I also have wiring issues in my home so I know it can happen. I lost a PSU, Router, Garage Door Opener, Cellphone charger and Cable Modem in one night due to a power surge.

Crap customer service from Sony?! I'm shocked...Well actually I'm not shocked at all since I experienced the same thing. It's pretty hard to believe you can get 7 bad units in a row, is your dog peeing on them lol.

Surely getting a qualified an electrician is the best idea?

If you don't then you'd better hope that killing consoles is the worst that happens due to the issue because if there is something wrong with your wiring then I'm not sure I'd be comfortable living somewhere like that with my ten year old without getting it checked first.
