My Frustration with Sony is growing

I think the 10 year old is breaking you PS4. If your kid is enough of an asshole to delete your personal email then I assume your kid would also break your PS4. /LawandOrderSoundEffect

Or it's the wife, feeling neglected.
Kidding. Mostly.

And you maybe right! I only play games I'm interested in. When I wasn't using the PS4 I was playing Pokémon or something on the 3DS and my kids and wife used the PS4 for Netflix.

Is the There something wrong with that? I sent one back because it couldn't run huluplus and Netflix. It kept freezing or kicking us out.

I think you're supporting the opposite of his point.

Not an exact science, and may not be worth noting but I could only find 5 times where OP didn't earn a ps4 trophy in a week or longer.

If he had it replaced 7 times, there would be more and longer gaps between getting trophies.

Detective GAF is the best GAF. Sony probably just has a really really fast turn around on repairs/repacements. Like, less than a week which would be amazing...OP should at least appreciate that..

I had an apartment with bad wiring and it fried my pc over and over. I bought an uninterrupted power supply and stopped having problems.

The OP States the emails have been deleted.
Sorry didn't see that line.

OP, this may seem like a hassle, but get records from your service provider. There should be a way to proof you placed all of those calls to Sony's CS, and cross reference with their records, to find the whole in their system.

Could be, I never had to do a replacement. Just found it odd thats all.

You really think the most plausible conclusion to come to based on what we know is "yeah, this is true"?

You really think this? And if you convince yourself its true, you think that the OP isn't to blame for most of these?

i just think it's ignorant to call him a liar. i know someone personally who went through two PS4s before February, so I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility that he could have gotten 8 bad PS4s.

the victim blaming in this thread is disgusting. Sony ain't perfect everyone...unless detectiveGAF comes with new information lets stop accusing him of lying.

Well, I'm not saying I believe they have a turnaround that fast, it would be pretty unprecedented to accept, diagnose, repair/replace a console in less than a week...

But that would have to be the case if OP is telling the truth and he had never gone a week without earning a trophy.. .He would be getting those PS4s back quick...

I've scanned through every post and unless I missed it, I need answers to these two things:

1. Why does your child have free roaming access to your emails?
2. You mentioned you cleaned your PS4 every 3 days...how? What is your cleaning process?

the odds of getting 8 faulty PS4 in a row are past the billions, so yeah it's kind of out of the realm of possibility

I don't know the OPs setup but some UPS's output a modified sine wave which can sometimes play havoc with electronics. Do you have a line conditioner? Maybe look at getting something like it although they are really pricey and not really necessary in most places. Another thought, run a long extension cord from one end of the house to the other (just to be sure you are off that segment) and run just the PS4 off that for a while. I mean 8, that's a lot.

At this point there's no way this is on Sony's end completely. OP probably has something to do with them breaking and isn't telling us or doesn't realize it.

The longest I've waited was a 6 days. That was the second one I believe. I always got the mail back box the next day and the replacement the a day or two later.

They were always extremely nice and amp to answer my questions. I don't have a problem with the employees at all. Their replacement service in my opinion is good and I express that in a couple of their surveys.

I have work in a few hours. Thanks for the feed back.

It's literally the most perfect example of something being out of the realm of possibility after riding riding a unicorn or fucking a mermaid.

Think before posting, seriously.

We know 1) He claims to have gone through 8 PS4s in a year, which in and of itself is ridiculous. If true, the fault for some of those has to be on him and not the consoles.

and 2) Sony themselves have no records whatsoever of him ever having reported issues with 3 through 8.

And 3) He can't provide email evidence because his 10 year old deleted all his emails.

You really think the most plausible conclusion to come to based on what we know is "yeah, this is true"?

Yeah the 3rd point there and the trophy thing has me convinced that number in the OP was bumped for sensationalism. This is really dumb.

Dude....step ONE: use a surge protector...always....at the very least. Preferably a UPS.

Yeah OP you should definitely use a surge protector of some sort, I never plug in anything expensive directly to the wall.

Curious how old your house is and if perhaps your outlet is putting out too much voltage that is slowly killing the PS4 power supply over time. You mentioned that the last to times were power supply issues. Your PC power supply could be more robust and handle overages better.

The reason I'm wondering about this is years ago I worked for a company that made a electronics product that didn't handle over or under voltages well, which ended up killing our devices. Once our engineer figured this out and added a small daughter board that handled the power fluctuations better our product return numbers decreased radically. I'm now curious about Sony's power supply design, time for some googling..

When I moved into my new house, I bought a fridge to put in the house.

11 months after I bought it, it suddenly died without any warning. The repair guy who came to fix it wasn't the least bit surprised to find out the mainboard which controlled it had fried, apparently there are a lot of power brownouts in my area and that tends to destroy electronics. He replaced the mainboard and told me to buy a surge protector for my fridge.

It was an expensive lesson but since then I've put surge protectors on my fridge, washer, and dryer because those can all be exploded by sudden power surges when the power flickers or even goes out. The way power comes back on after it goes out results in a huge surge through the house at the moment that power is restored, and that's how you blow your stuff up. In places like Florida where there are lightning storms, it's even more important to put surge protectors on literally everything you own, or even invest in a whole-home surge protector unit if your power supply is really unstable.

The funny thing is my fridge blew up, but I've always used surge protectors on my fancy consumer electronics and surprisingly enough those haven't ever had any problems. So now I know about how important these surge protector things are.

I looked there as well. Ultimately I don't feel it proves anything, except that there are Playroom records for 16-Nov-13.

If the current (8th) PS4 was on 22-May-14, that makes seven replacements in six months.

I can't multiquote on phone, and it's been edited, but I'd question if Hulu and Netflix freezing was the only symptom prior to return. If so, that seems a tad insane ... ?

In hardware support land, we call a string of failures like that "not a hardware problem". There is 100% chance at that point that the problem is external.

going through 8 360s in less than a year would be extremely unlikely too, and we're talking about a console notorious for failures.

I went through 4 in 8 months. I bet I could have done more if they sent them back to me faster/I didn't give up on the thing altogether.

But that's the faultiest console in history, PS4 not so much. Put me on team #Idontbelieveyou

I sent one back because it couldn't run huluplus and Netflix. It kept freezing or kicking us out.

Just for some perspective.

Sending a PS4/console back in this situation would be the last thing I'd consider.

This solution in that situation makes no sense to me... there's no connection to the problem and your solution at all there.

This is one of those cases where you really just need to read someone's post history before even trying to convince them of anything.

This is exactly what I was thinking. I wonder how quick he sent it back after this started.

This whole time I thought he had 8 consoles that were screwed to the point of not being usable at all...

I take the OP at face value but it's also possible power supplies are at fault. I know where I used to live there were people who were being supplied a lower than standard voltage because a new subdivision had recently been completed nearby and this power load had not been factored in by the power transmission company.

Lots of people had microwaves, dryers and other appliances fail in unreasonably short periods, roughly a year or three.

Perhaps OP could see if his house power supply is not up to scratch?

Otherwise, I don't think he is lying. Just incredibly unlucky.

Yeah dude you may want to spend less time trying to get free stuff from Sony and may want to pay attention to what is actually happening with your Ps4s. I've never heard of 8 systems dying on a single petal except for the 360s and those were So bad MS got sued and ended up basically giving lifetime warranties for the system with knowledge it had a real high chance of breaking down.

Hell my 80GB phat PS3 lasted 6 years and still ran everything even blu rays. Usually that is the first thing to die.

Dunno. Sounds like someone is banging on the system hard or something like that is happening

I missed that bit. Yeah, makes litte sense to send in the console because of problems with hulu/netflix.

There was a dude that got struck by lightning, like, 8+ times in his life.

So, no, I don't find it unbelievable that OP got 8 faulty PS4s. Obviously way more than 8 faulty PS4s exist, OP just happened to get 8 of them in a row.

That is terribly, awful, very bad luck, dude.

Does anyone notice all the the anti PS4 and pro XB1 topics lately that correlate with the price drop news? It just seems suspicious to me. Anyway there is absolutely no chance this guy received 8 bad PS4s in a year so he is either full of shit or is intentionally damaging them. He'd literally have a higher chance of winning a mega millions lottery.
