My Frustration with Sony is growing

*reads thread, in particular the part about OP plugging it directly into the wall and cleaning it every few days*

This...this is going to backfire, isn't it

This thread reminds me of that gaffer who kept breaking his 360s because he was putting them on his subwoofer. Either something on the users end or the op needs to get buying some lottery tickets.

Does anyone notice all the the anti PS4 and pro XB1 topics lately that correlate with the price drop news? It just seems suspicious to me. Anyway there is absolutely no chance this guy received 8 bad PS4s in a year so he is either full of shit or is intentionally damaging them. He'd literally have a higher chance of winning a mega millions lottery.

One could say this was just confirmation bias, if it weren't sadly true.

I don't think his PS4 is getting enough ventilation. I had mine in a similar unit and one time the fans kicked into overdrive and it got really hot. Moved it ontop of the unit and it's been fine ever since.

I'd like to know the reasons for the return of 8 of the PS4s. He's not stated what the faults were apart from hulu/netflix freezing and the could be fixed by a stability update.

the other 7?

people probably said the same thing about X360.

Actually, people were saying "Oh, you're only on your 8th Xbox 360. I remember my 8th. I'm on my 19th and I'm hoping this'll be the last one."

Also, children deleting e-mails, heh. My cat used to pee on my homework... But, if it actually is true I'd like to know what else that kid has deleted that didn't end up in the Deleted Items-folder.

Call an electrician, not Sony.

I almost don't actually believe the OP, it's just that far from reality, and at SOME POINT, you gotta be like "hmmmm maybe there is something wrong with my house"

I just think some people like to make dramatic thread titles that will get a ton of views...

i just think it's ignorant to call him a liar. i know someone personally who went through two PS4s before February, so I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility that he could have gotten 8 bad PS4s.
I'm sorry.

OP you're not a liar, I just find everything you're saying to sound extremely implausible, and the evidence points more towards some of this being fabricated more than it points toward legitimacy.

Is that better? More politically correct?

Or maybe you're just wanting us to agree with his story by default because he said so, and it's much nicer or something. Honestly.

To say it's "ignorant" to call him a liar couldn't be more wrong, since knowing the facts presented to us (i.e. opposite of ignorant) is what is leading people to this conclusion.

Edit: and good god Brad, your post history. Your fucking post history.

Idk if the problem has been solved or what the symptoms are but I just had problems with mine not turning on and found a simple solution. Hopefully this helps somebody with a similar problem and could explain why somebody might go through 7 PS4's.

I had an eternal orange flashing light. It wouldn't turn on so I pulled the plug, it booted in to safemode afterwards and I found online that it was doing this because I never validated my email address. I did it in the settings, under PSN, and email address. After doing that worked like a charm.

It would never boot down correctly before and I'd always get messages about it being shut down incorrectly even if I didn't do anything weird. So orange flashing light people out there, validate your email address and maybe that'll help

I would set up a camera and record the culprit. I think somebody is messing with you. Have you neglected your chores by any chance? I would start interrogating the residents of your household.

I run my PC & PS4 on the same extension cord

You shouldnt run them on an extension cord. Depending on the gauge wire in the cord they are probably attempting to draw more than it can handle, especially if its a circuit being used elsewhere. If you have to run them on a cord, buy the fattest, shortest one you can find. Check your breaker box and see what else is on that line (living room/kitchen, etc).

I don't believe it's some orchestrated movement or conspiracy. No. But there has been a bunch of PS4 negativity on GAF the last month or so. Some warranted with Driveclub and the 2.0 standby issues, others maybe not so warranted....

But I do remember a gaffer who specifically predicted " expect a ton of negative PS4 threads on GAF in the coming weeks. Gotta balance the scales." after the September NPD results....

I find that kinda funny...

I created this thread because I was frustrated and needed to vent. Some believe me and some believes I'm full of shit. Cool. If Diego keeps his word (I doubt he will) I will update the first post with the evidence. If he doesn't just assume I'm full of shit or not.

It's been a long day at work and I can't play Lords of the Fallen. I don't want to debate and I spent more of my off time on this subject than I wanted to.

My take away from this thread:
Check my electrical
100% my fault
I'm full of cat litter shit
Come up with a lie on how my emails got deleted instead of simply telling the truth
And I don't know how to post a Pic from my phone on Gaf to show I'm not a dumb ass who puts his console by something retarded.

Have a good night Gaf, I have work in the morning.

Whoah whoah whoa dude, chill out...

Yes it's open. When I get the new PS4 in I'll put more distance between it and the wall. Right now the distance is around 11 inches.

You mentioned that you clean your PS4 every 3 or 4 days. What are you using to clean it and how are you cleaning it? Improper cleaning can also cause problems. Are you using a suction vac or compressed air to clean out the vents?

Also what exactly has been the problem each time? Is it the same problem over and over again or is it different issues each time? If you're experiencing issues with your internet connection it could be an issue with the grounding in your ethernet cabling/wiring as that can easily lead to a surge that will fry any equipment connected. There are a plethora of diffferent possible causes here. In order to narrow it down we need some more information specifically about the issues you've been experiencing.

Not an exact science, and may not be worth noting but I could only find 5 times where OP didn't earn a ps4 trophy in a week or longer.

If he had it replaced 7 times, there would be more and longer gaps between getting trophies.

Good Job OP

Take a screenshot using PC? I mean it ain't hard. Also tell us the other 7 reasons for those 7 other ps4? I think people are trying to assist you but you keep replying "I don't know why its happening". That's probably why people are questioning your validity.

And yes I believe this bogus or its your end that's causing all this malfunctions.

Detective GAF is the best GAF. Sony probably just has a really really fast turn around on repairs/repacements. Like, less than a week which would be amazing...OP should at least appreciate that..

I got a PS4 replaced. It takes about 3.5 weeks. They send you a box, which takes 3-5 business days. Then you send it back, which takes 3-5 business days. The repair takes 7-10 or more business days, then they send it back, which takes 3-5 business days.

So yeah, if the trophy info is correct, OP is flat out lying.

The longest I've waited was a 6 days. That was the second one I believe. I always got the mail back box the next day and the replacement the a day or two later.

They were always extremely nice and amp to answer my questions. I don't have a problem with the employees at all. Their replacement service in my opinion is good and I express that in a couple of their surveys.

I have work in a few hours. Thanks for the feed back.

This is untrue. Support tells you it takes at least a week to fix the system.

Unlike OP, I did not delete my service email. See the "How long does service take" paragraph:

8?

Eight?

That's.... extremely unlucky. Though at that point I have to say that you make your own luck.

It's extremely implausible that you received EIGHT bad PS4s. It's pretty much a statistical impossibility that the problem is NOT on your end. Assuming OP contains truth. Sorry TC...

I got a PS4 replaced. It takes about 3.5 weeks. They send you a box, which takes 3-5 business days. Then you send it back, which takes 3-5 business days. The repair takes 7-10 or more business days, then they send it back, which takes 3-5 business days.

Gaming set up

Many thanks to Zoba

PS4 is on the first shelf under the TV.

Looking at that, it may very well be a ventilation issue. The heat, I believe exits mostly from the back of the PS4. If the back of your PS4 is too close to the back of your entertainment unit, the heat might stagnate there. I lost two PS3's that way (my 2006 launch unit in 2008 and its replacement in 2009) until I realized the issue and made sure my third one was out in the open. It still works like a charm to this day.

Not sure how anyone can believe the OP at this point.

WineCoolerGaf need to investigate this one. I never heard of anyone going through 8 X360s with all the problems it had on its initial design, but you went through 8 PS4s in less than a year?

Well that sure does change things up a bit hmmmmmmmm....

Thread back fire complete.

Even if it true at this point. Sony giving u ton of free stuff and a couple days getting a new system is amazing service when it take most people 3-4 weeks.

Now what killing ps4 is super bad luck or some other wierd thing.

Will be interesting to see what the OP has to say in light of this...

I'm tired so I could be off, but nonetheless, I counted 7 times there was a break of a week or longer between trophies, between the first date and today.

Not sure there is anything there to see.
In september he made a post saying there was 7 replacments with a 1 week turnaround.

Here's his breakdown post:
1: kept ejecting the disk and sounded like a jet taking off during shutdown
2: Didn't read software and one day while playing Knack ejected the disk and turned itself off to never turn on again
3: turned itself off and decided not to come back on
4: didn't read software, played HulluPlus and Netflix like shit and something was wrong with the disk drive
5: disk drive problems and again ran software like crap, wouldn't play so,e of my downloaded stuff.
6: wouldn't upload to the cloud ultimately turned itself off while I was watching Netflix and decided to go on permanent vacation.

I don't think it happened in that order but that's the just of it.

What I learned?
If it doesn't seem right, replace it and don't risk it because it will ultimately brick on you.

In case someone doubts my claim of 3-5 days of shipping, here's the email from support (didn't delete this one either!) stating so:

In fact, from the day they send the box to you until you get it, they send you an email every day, which would be very tough to delete all of.

Not to defend the OP but those are just estimated time. If he lives close to a service center, turnaround time could be much quicker. I've sent item back to amazon and get stuff replace within a week despite customer support says that it would take 3-4 business from received to ship.

See my post just above yours.

Yeah I got a replacement for mine the day after I sent it. They're pretty quick in my experience so far.

Hmm, wonder what op will say about this but maybe he lives close to a service center and got it back quickly.
